My god they sound amazing. So sad they were replaced with Hitachi Javelin VF drives which don't sound as nice. Still, we do have the iconic Metro Cammell VF drive

The Brush motored 465s still exist.

@@bfapplethey rlly don’t mate, I live down south where these ran (I’m not old enough to have ever been on one tho) all of the brush 465’s were replaced with Hitachi developed IGBT traction for reliability. The 465 that did keep their original VF drives were the /9’s which use Metro Camell developed GTO VVV-F variable Frequency drives

the old GTO traction motors were too unstable and therefore a new Hitachi motor replaced the old GTO motors for Class 465/0 and 465/1s.
