Oh man! Your kids will thank you much later in life getting them into such an awesome hobby as RC. I just wish there were still the Tyco Ricochet's around!! I so wish I still had mine (1990s) to brushless convert haha A really good, really cheap speed build though - WLToys 124019. I chose that for my speed runner; grabbed some SurpassHobby ESC's with 4370KV motors on BangGood for around 20 bucks a set, grabbed a metal spur gear with them. On 3s, I haven't gotten a full top speed run yet - I crashed on a bumpy surface, but pulled 63MPH via GPS!! I'm almost up to interstate speed (foam tires)!! On 2s it'll pull 50MPH without effort; dangerously fun. Nowhere to go run it though; track that is. I'm still searching for a smooth and lengthy piece of tarmac to get the full speed run. The 104001 is another good one - lots of support and 3D printable replacements; true 10th scale buggy too (LC Racing EMB-1 clone). Laegendary is another good brand to check out as well - I have some videos on my channel of the 8th scale SCT; 41MPH off-road. Got a 'behind the wheel' video too! I don't have any Tamiya stuff - but this makes me wanna get one; looks good!

You got too much in there. It is pushing the pinion away from the diff gears and that is that clicking/grinding noise that is happening right before you spin out. You were spinning out due o the gears getting caught in the grind and locking up the diff causing the tires to lock up and spinning you out. cool video and thanks for it. I was wanting to bump up to 3s but now I know there are limits to the drive train that need to be addressed prior to that jump :)

@@RoadsideRC The TT02 is notorious for eating gears. Along with front and rear GPM metal ring and pinion gears, you also need the Yeah Racing adjustable motor mount. The stock plastic piece has poor mesh and it flexes too. Also, if you look online, there's a full metal spur gear I have these upgrades in my TT02B, and it has become fairly bulletproof. Addiitonally you might want to consider the ball bearing steering system from GPM and the Tamiya alloy prop shaft. Get harder springs. You also spin out because the body is pushed down into the road, and thus the tyres lose pressure and contact. Front and rear metal gears, adjustable motor mount, stiffer springs and belting the tyres are key to making this work. Without those things, forget all about it. Also replace the servo saver with a solid arm. Takes a lot of flex away from the steering.

Use foam tires. I use a 9000kv, 2 pole castle motor on my street build. The 2 pole gives u a high rpm but less torque. It tames the car down but still gives you that higher rpm for speed. My build is doing 66mph on a 2s. 3s is wicked and giving me 78mph but overheats to quickly. 2s doesn't overheat at all.

@@RoadsideRC Watch the vid again:) They actually do skip a few times. The "TT02 grind" is unmistakable:D Consider some stiffer springs. It sounds like the air is pushing the car down which causes the body to contact the road. This takes the downward pressure away from the tyres and you lose traction. It will also get easier to control if you install the alloy steering linkage with ball bearings, some turnbuckles and replace the sedvo saver with an alloy horn. There's a ton of play in the TT02 steering unfortunately.

It's fairly easy to belt your own tyres. Get some kevlar fabric and cut strips that has the same width as the full inside of the tyres tread surface, as well as the same length as the circumference. Turn the tyre inside out and use the same type of glue that you use to pach a bicycle inner tube, and glue a kevlar strip all the way around the circumference of the tyre. Try to make the ends overlap as little as possible. Once dry, turn the outside back out, mount the tyres with inner foams as per usual. Balance the wheels and you're ready to go fast. Kevlar belted tyres done properly can survive over 150 mph runs.

Nice guys! 👍😃👍 I was curious how it was going to do, it did good. I was going to make mine a speed car but instead made it my drift car. 👍😃👍
@RoadsideRC5 жыл бұрын
Great idea! I think it would probably survive longer as a drift car! Thanks for stopping by!

My TT-02 is very fast. I put a Castle 5600 or 5400 kv in it now it is super fast. Don’t know how fast i don’t have a gps for it.

Fun! Get you a GPS and see what numbers it puts up!

love it, Subscribed, you say Tamiya wrong though....

Thanks! Think my regional accent has taken over the saying of Tamiya? :) How do you say it?
@Chio_OB4 жыл бұрын
sorta like this kzbin.info/www/bejne/in-TfICGrduFprc but more Scottish, kzbin.info/www/bejne/eKncaoKrbtdgnrc 41-2 secs but less German, lol or this kzbin.info/www/bejne/iammeKR6aqlroqc just a few, hehehe just regional variations! say it how you want! Just for info I have an original Manta Ray and a 2018 one I'm making a brushless shelf queen!
