I do have one thing to say, this build is amazing, but if you DO NOT get a custom fire extinguishing setup built into the car, the professional ones that fill everything with foam ect. all it takes is one of those fittings to go slightly wrong, and well, if you want evidence, Mazdas current DPi car catches on fire due to fuel/turbo problems almost every endurance race it takes part in, and its not even a rotary. They are very expensive, and a headache to maintain, but a fire in a bay like that becomes uncontrollable in seconds. Most likely you already have a plan, but just in case you needed someone to yell at you some more, here is my one annoying backseat comment. Live everything you do rob!

Kraig B my point exactly, most people that build imports stick to “JDM” companies, but as far as I’m concerned go fast parts are go fast parts and as long as you meet your goals it doesn’t really matter who makes them as long as they are worth the investment.

@SuperBobKing
@SuperBobKing 5 жыл бұрын
@Howdy Justice Billet is just a fancy word for a piece of metal. From what I understand the way metal flows through the molds when casting makes the resulting part weaker than if it was machined to the same spec from a block, at least for complex shapes, which is why you hear about billet blocks so much with very high horsepower cars. For small custom stuff like a lot of these parts getting it machined is cheaper anyway.

@@zuestoots5176 Hmm.. yes, they are pretty unreliable but you should not forget that there are certain aspects about these engines that people really love. Otherwise they wouldn't keep building them and Rob is one hardcore lover of these things. Everybody does what makes them happy and if someone wants to spent over three hundred thousand dollars on a 4 rotor rx7 that's pretty cool I think because not everybody is able to do what they love

@aserta 5 жыл бұрын
Unreliable in the hands of incompetent people who can't even comprehend an engine that's not into bondage, like the most fucks who buy a rotary and break it, or complain about it online with or without having owned one. The engine is plenty reliable, it's you end users who can't take care of it because you're used with iron pigs who can't make power unless they get on steroids.

Rob, Glad that you like the twin VR fuel cell setup! I'm one of the Fuel System Engineers for Holley and designed the unit you have. As you see on the flow charts the pumps really come alive at higher voltages. Main complaint with the unit are the small filters. They work fine but don't cover much surface area. If this is a concern we have / will soon have a pump adapter that straps onto the pumps and gives you an AN inlet that can be used with a HydraMat like the 16-108. Let me know if you have any questions going forward.

Been playing with brushless motors on automotive fan systems for nearly 20 years. They're 80-90% efficient vs their brushed counterparts at around 50%. They are variable speed and require PWM based control signals which is what that little control box is likely generating in your case. Modern OEM automobiles are using brushless technology all over from fan motors to coolant and fuel pumps. It's really where the industry is shifting so no surprise to see it spilling over to the aftermarket. The build is coming along nicely!

You can keep low temp without using a cumbersome mechanical pump that robs the engine of power, has no control and so on. Brushless motors have been proven from RC to thousands upon thousands of variants of cordless tools. It's one of the most reliable and power efficient types of electric motor (AT their size package, they get rubbish once you scale them up). If i were him, i'd keep a bottle of liquid nitrogen in the trunk (one liter should be enough) and have the fuel lines pass in and out through a block alu that's cored in the bottle. He'll never give two shits about fuel temp after that.

Check out Sharkhide wipe on metal protectant. It will keep all of the billet from tarnishing, oxidizing and looking like crap especially after a road side repairs. Its a one time use clear product your pour onto a rag and wipe over all your uncoated aluminum parts.

I've been recommending this channel since I first saw the rats nest of wiring in the 3 rotor, and I will continue to do so. I was a bit of an ass some time ago, but as I've gotten to know you, it's become apparent that I was completely at fault. I apologize. Keep up the good work man, and I'll continue to share your videos with friends, and hitting the like before watching. We're all rooting for you

What you have for those brushless motors are ESC speed controllers. Electronic Speed Controller. Its a 3 phase system that uses PWM to adjust the speed of the motor instead of voltage. This is the same concept for drone motors

Loving these daily uploads! One thing I do have to say is you need to add some bracing to that angine/trans stand! Once that motor fires up, its going to be torquey as hell and those uprights without any bracing could flex and ruin all that hard work!

Rob, Super Cool! I was watching an older video when you were speaking of the proper ratio for a race cars balance. You quoted a 1:618 stance to wheelbase ratio. I just wanted to let you know, if you didn't already that that is the Golden Ratio of the Fibonacci sequence. A sunflowers seeds are placed at this Ratio along with the Nautilis's shell. Also, a galaxy swirl pattern is at this ratio. I believe it to be Devine. and proof of a creator. Well, enough of the stuff my children get bored with so quickly. They like the $ rotor though. (same key, funny!) Keep Inspiring & God Bless
