Nice concept. Fabrication is a state of mind. Personally I shy away from mitred corners as there’s less weld area and it increases the distortion when welded. A tip worth considering for future to prevent distortion is racking some diagonal braces across the frame to hold it whilst welding (assuming you didn’t). I’d also like to see some braces in the upright configuration perhaps diagonals. Another tip when centring holes on plates is to use countersunk screws which self set concentric to the holes improving setup alignment. Great effort though pal, love the build. Keep it going! 😎

Hey man just tips for fabbing a basic frame like that. Tac the entire structure before fully welding anything, this minimises warpage and pull. When welding a corner joint. Weld the outside corner first. Then the top and bottom, them inside edge. This is to minamise the frame pulling out of square. Its alot worse with stainless but every material pulls a little bit. And remember measure twice ;)

Rob look into getting a gas lens for your torch. The welds come out a lot cleaner and less oxidized. I recently got some to try it out and the cup and gas lens cost me $4.79. The best cups are the Furick cups that cost like $30.

I’m so happy that there’s more 4 rotor content. Even if it is parts.

U should weld the uprights to the beam with it sitting on top of it rather than in the side of it. Just a thought but love it man and can’t wait to see the thing run.

you need to add more strength and suuport to the frame if you plan on running an engine on it as the vibrations will cause the welds to crack, a few gussets and cross beams should do it

That stand looks sturdy in itself, but because i seen Rob weld it together this little voice in the back of my head anxious as it was expecting for it to crumble in pieces. not saying it should have, but i was legit anxtious

It would look so good if you powder/ high temp ceramic coated all of these aluminum parts because their finish will degrade very quickly in racing situations or just one coolant boil over. Satin titanium and wrinkle black look sick which reminds me of those high end Ring Brothers and Roadster Shop SEMA builds.
