Look up Berserker at Stamford Bridge by Amon Amarth. Not only is it about Vikings.. but it’s also based on a true story of a lone Viking warrior who made an epic last stand on a bridge. Basically, the English army had marched overnight to meet a Viking army who was invading and caught them off guard. The Vikings retreated, and to cover their escape, a lone warrior, a Berserker walked out onto the bridge and held off the English army. He killed somewhere between 40 to 70 men before he was ultimately brought down. It’s epic. It’s awesome. And it actually happened!

Sideline comment: I just was introduced (via a family background search) to a viking heritage (it's WAYYYY back in history). Have you perhaps heard of a Viking known as "The ugly"? I can't begin to pronounce his given name, but his "Nick name" of sorts is "The Ugly." If you have heard if this fellow, can you shoot back to me if his title refers to physical attributes or personality/behaviors? I appreciate your time.

Fun fact, the name Amon Amarth is taken from Lord of the Rings. In the fictional elvish language created by Tolkien, Amon Amarth means Mount Doom, which was the location the ring was made and the final battle location. Also, try the Song Tattered Banners and Bloody Flags, it is like a rolling thunder.

Interesting fact about Viking society: women were more or less equal to men, they could be warriors if they chose, they could own land and they were allowed to divorce their husbands which was unheard of in most other cultures at the time. They were also the first Europeans to North America. (Heads up I’m a huge history nerd and I take a lot of pride in my Viking and Anglo Saxon heritage)

Not gonna lie.. Metal isnt for everybody. But, for me, and people like me. Whenever i feel down, feel sad angry or whatever.. I turn to metal (i listen to EBM, 80/90'es, reggae etc too, but nothing compare to that, "feeling" metal music gives me.. For bands like Amon Amarth (or Manowar) I love songs like, Fate of Norns, one thousand burning arrows or Runes to my memory.. They deal with the sorrow of loss, from ones kin to ones king to.. one self.. Or Manowar songs, like Die with Honor, Battle Hymn, Brothers of Metal, Swords in the wind and so many more But yet, they're so empowering too.. Johan Hegg and Eric Adams (lead singer) really has that.. Knack of putting all those emotions in the lyrics and in their delivery. It makes you want to kick and punch out.. To stand up and SCREAM your lungs out. SCREAM all that anger, hate, sadness, that burns you up inside.. Let all those emotions boil over and out Thats the beauty of metal music.. It gives you this feeling of... home.. a feeling of comradeship and belonging.. Metal music dosnt alienate you, it opens its arms and embrace you (in a BIG brawny slightly drunken bear hug most likely) But.. For same reason i think its why you never see the popular kids listening to metal.. They dont understand it.. Not the same way we do.. (We = the "outcasts" and "rejects".. Metal is "our" music.. Offers us that place were we can "go" whenever everything feels like shit.. The music gives us that POWER .. Least, often thats the way the journey starts.. Its a very rare thing if ever a poplar kid starts listning to metal.. and liking it..

@@TheAdventuresofTNT You're welcome.. I'm quite happy to see so many "React to: Metal" channels popping up, (more exposure and all that.. And heck, even got a few new bands i didnt know of before from watching various channels.. ) But honestly.. I dont know where i would be today, if i had not discovered metal music back in the days.. So many feelings put to words (by others, but they still felt like mine), that "rush" of power (from bands like Amon Amarth and such).. When you're that "outsider" in school.. That stuff really hits you.. Metal, is for life.. It embraces you, and never letting go .. (thats why you still see old dad's in their 50'es and 60'es that cut with them old old Iron Maiden, Saxon or AC/DC patches on.. )

Cody Parker no no no, it’s a very big misconception that these guys are Viking metal. This is melodic death metal that happens to have Viking-centric lyrics. Rage Of Light - Twilight Of The Thunder God (Amon Amarth cover) Rage Of Light is trance metal from France, they have a female vocalist, Melissa Bonney who has an awesome singing voice (she's also lead singer for the symphonic metal band Evenmore) but the song I suggested is full on death growls, I chose it because this is an Amon Amarth reaction and it ties in.
