Zim is a Cowboy at heart. I don’t think he’s to concerned about being fired because he’s doing this to help the organization and will do everything he can to improve the defense. He was a good HC but he’s a great DC and Dallas may keep him regardless of what happens to Mike.

Jeff I like your idea of helping Broaddus get some nickname or tag line. He can end his shows saying “Steal with your eyes” . A man without a nick name is like a country without a flag.

What a dynamic duo. Btw, Mike McCarthy needs to win in the post season, they can go 17-0 and it would not matter because they are so capable of being 1 and done when it counts again

@JeffCavanaugh I have asked this question of another KZbinr and I am wondering what your thoughts on the subject might be - The Cowboys recently cut a WR and the Rams cut a WR/special teams extraordinaire - Ben Skowranek (superbowl ring) - do you think that John Fassel would love to have a guy from his old team around to teach the young pups what he knows?

I still think Dallas needs to sign Gilmore. They need an insurance policy in that secondary. You always need as many corners as you can get just like wide receivers. Between that and fixing the defensive play against the run are key for Zimmer's success.

Thirsty Thursday! Let’s go!
@kattiegodfrey16566 ай бұрын
This route makes Dak more motivated...Mike more motivated Zimmer has to prove his defense is more successful than DQ...Everybody gotta fire 🔥 lit under em! Then when we win the SB ...they cannall ask for whatever they want! Jerry will have to let go of some MAJOR SIGNING bonuses to keep everyone but it can be done! Plus the cap goes up again of course, so that helps

I’d argue the defense on paper got better in this offseason. Perhaps significantly better. Replacing an aging Gilmore with an all pro in Trevon Diggs. Replacing Kearse who was horrible last season with young guys that can play like Bell and Thomas. Lost Hankins who was just a fat guy in the middle which they have in Mazi (and maybe their 7th rounder). Dorance = Kneeland. LB room may be 20x better than what we had last year. Kendricks , Overshown, Marist, and Clark is one of the best LB rooms the cowboys have had since Jaylon smith was good at football. The “defense got worse” narrative feels lazy
@JeffCavanaugh6 ай бұрын
Thinking they got better feels super optimistic. Lost your best nose tackle, all your edge depth, the guy who bailed out Bland against Seattle etc. If Diggs is back 100% and so is Overshown and your 2nd round pick hits immediately? Sure, you could be as good or so on paper.
@garymatera93086 ай бұрын
@@JeffCavanaugh nose was pretty bad towards the end of last year, one of the lowest graded noses in the league. Mazi’s year 2 jump will probably decide which direction the defense goes. 75% Trevon Diggs>>> 34 YO Gilmore. Overshown at __% (+Kendricks and Marist) >>>>>> that trash heap at LB. Could also make a very good argument that you upgraded at DC. I think the notion that they got substantially worse on that side of the ball is banking on each question mark being incorrect which feels pretty pessimistic.
@Jasonrcsd5 ай бұрын
We will see how the season plays out but I think the 2023 DC > 2024 DC. Wonder what Vegas would say?

Wasn't Zimmer at Minnesota the last few years when we would regularly put up a 50 burger on them???
@thespeedracer57726 ай бұрын
Nice show. Melin site is cool; going to pick one up. If Zay isn't a better route runner than MG's worst WR2 route running, he likely won't make the roster. This is a year to find out what young bucks Tolbert, Brooks & Flournoy have, capability-wise, as to not even consider the former beyond this year without proven production. Flournoy is an interesting player for me. We need Zimmer now, timing wise. However, it will indeed be interesting to see how well elite young kids who were extra pampered throughout life due to such elite athletic abilities broadcast 24/7 via social media, its delusional trolls, and a legitimate softening of norms are able to effectively assimilate. Wait till the coming crops of NIL multi-millionaire collegiate players hit the league en force. Clearly we fans who know the game but don't have inside access & rely on guys like you two can deduce that there are unacceptable antics by Micah, that we don't see as the public. What's worse is how likely it will be that there are *_many_* more Micah's coming with that type of me first attitude on everything, regardless of what they say... Of course, the difference there will be that there's only 1 or 2 Micah's per generation, talent-wise, per position (usually). Zimmer's window of old-school coaching efficacy is closing rapidly.
