You don't mess with Bryan Cox's kicker and you don't pull on Vestee Jackson's facemask! Dolphins vs. Bengals on MNF 12-09-91.

I was at this game, sitting in the end zone. What was cool was Bryan Cox wasn't even on the field when the play happened, but when they showed it on the big screen Bryan Cox walked all the way across the field, alone, from the Dolphins sideline to the Bengals' sideline. We fans watched him march all the way across the field, it was so cool.

Dierdorf is such an epic fail here. First, he cheers on the act of blindsiding a kicker for no reason because he thinks it's a great play, then tries to walk it back after he realizes what a jerk it makes him seem like. Then he can't accuse Vestee Jackson of being dirty fast enough, before he has to walk THAT back after seeing Jackson get dragged by the facemask. I will always maintain that Dierdorf held a grudge against the Dolphins for the Thanksgiving '77 game where they curbstomped his Cards, and took it out on them every chance he got when he announced their games. Even 20 years later he was openly celebrating when Pat White literally got knocked out just because White was wearing a Dolphins uniform.

I love players like this, step up and fight for your teammates regardless of the consequences and bullshit comments from others. This was how I played all my sports when I played.

Loved Brian Cox more after this. Watching them hi five after that cheap shot was worth whatever happened to Cox. Made that game much more interesting

Thank the Dolphins video team. They replayed it on the Jumbotron and at the time the players were scuffing so the refs saw it and called it.
