I was just a kid when Adam Richman, Andrew Zimmern, and Anthony Bourdain took television by storm. Watching Pro Moves somehow brings me that same feeling I felt watching their shows growing up. I hope this never ends man 🥹🙌🏾
@acey9997Ай бұрын
The Golden Age of Travel Channel food shows. Adam and Andrew took totally hokey premises and made them somehow ... well, palatable and more than just gimmicks. Tony, of course, took food and travel to an even higher level of meaningfulness. They are/were all decent, good guys.
@spustatuАй бұрын
Bryan, it may interest you to know (if you don't already) that the move of taking the last bits of food that are actually the best while acting like you're sacrificing for the sake of others is called the "priest's portion" in Italy. If you're feeding the priest in your home, he would insist that everyone be served before him, but that last serving of pasta will have more of any chunkier or heavier stuff that naturally gravitates to the bottom, so his serving was usually best. But of course it's done entirely out of piety.

@@spustatuI did find it interesting, any idea how the saying goes in italian? In Mexico we say a rime that would be translated something like (and it won't rhyme): the one who cuts and gives takes the best piece (ja, made it rhyme!)
@spustatuАй бұрын
@@elchanclascocina In Italian it's not really a rhyme or even a whole sentence. It's been a long time since I was last in Italy, but I think it was either "la porzione da prete" or "la porzione del prete." I can't remember which!

I need to remember this restaurant and other classic American steakhouses whenever the conversation of "America doesn't have any distinct cuisine" comes around. I think this is a worthy contender in that conversation. Edit: To be clear, I'm not suggesting America invented steaks or even all of the classic steakhouse dishes. There are plenty of influences in there, like those potatoes looked very French. But I think that wedge salad, steakhouse blue cheese dressing, I think these deserve to be called American.
