90s comedians approached comedy so seriously and that's why it was so good! Like the early Simpsons, all jokes went through like 20 revisions by 20 Harvard graduates in that show. And it still shows!

I love the way that good comedians fine tune their jokes. There is so much more nuance to comedy that there is to drama. Timing, inflection, phrasing, facial expression all need to be just right for a joke to really work.
