This video and your instructions saved me money and grief when our BryantAC unit went out in the middle of 100 degree and high humidity temps. Thank you for posting this video and explaining what you were doing. I appreciate you!! Great video and it's now saved to my group of home improvement videos.

It was a record 115 F. in Sacramento and my spouse was sick. No repairman was avail. for a week! Though a fan blew hot air blew thru ducts, the fan inside the copper coil-fin "condenser" unit did not spin. This video explained how to fix this common problem --a capacitor-- on my 12 yr. old Bryant a/c unit, and was a lifesaver. Part cost $55 at local shop. Thank you so much for your contribution to the world!

Would a bad capacitor cause the air to only blow cold sometimes and everything else is like muggy warm/cool, and could it also affect air flow and how strong the air is coming out of the vents?
@ApartmentMaintenance3 ай бұрын
@@UC559 No it won't effect either of those two symptoms. It would work or it wouldn't. Sounds like you have a different issue going on. Thanks for watching UC559 & help support the channel by subscribing 🛠️👍

How is the compressor condition supposed to look. Would there be a possibility it may exploded? lol please
@ApartmentMaintenance2 ай бұрын
@@highcueproductions916 The exterior look doesn't really matter, obviously you don't want it rusted through. It's the internals that matter. They make a tool called a megohmmeter that you use to test the condition of the compressor. Thanks for watching & help support the channel 🛠️👍

My bryant system is showing a solid orange light and isn't cooling. Its 7 degrees behind setting of 72. The condenser is running and it's only 2 years old and I've changed the filter every 4 months
@ApartmentMaintenance2 жыл бұрын
Compressor might not be running & just the outdoor fan is which makes it look like the outdoor unit is running properly, or you could have a refrigerant leak. Could be multiple things which is hard to say without seeing it in person. Thanks for watching Troy & Subscribe to the channel 👍

How often does it need replacing
@ApartmentMaintenance3 жыл бұрын
You should have your system serviced before every cooling season & one of the things the technician will do is test the capacitor to make sure it's within 5% of the rated microfarads. If it's reading lower than 5% it should be replaced. For example if you have a 35/5 dual run capacitor & it reads 33.25 microfarads or lower on the compressor side or 4.75 microfarads or lower on the fan side you would want to replace it. Hope that helps. Thanks for watching Florida & Subscribe to the channel 👍

Where we get it that part???
@ApartmentMaintenance4 жыл бұрын
The only way someone can get one with an account at a hvac supply house is to order one online from amazon or maybe a few other websites. You could try walking into a hvac supply house and see if they will sale you one, but I doubt it. Only other option is having a professional come by and repair your system. If you don't know what your doing it could be very dangerous and I don't recommend it. Thanks for watching Preeti 👍👍

@@ApartmentMaintenanceactually, my local hardware store carried the capacitor for my unit. It wasn’t OEM but a quick Google search and cross reference did it and it worked just fine and did the trick. Shortys will also sell the part if you have model number iff AC vindensir or off the capacitor itself. Just make sure power is off and you discharge capacitor before touching leads. Great video.
