Bryce said it best at the end - Amel just wanted to make music and not hit records. Folks were expecting her to sound like GT and were disappointed when this wasn't the direction she went in. Sad because her solo projects were fantastic. But that Groove Theory album will always be top tier.

A definite power struggle!. Yes, that was a great chess move pairing with Toni Braxton in the “You Making Me High” video. That song slaps!. More exposure, more relevance, more business. Cause Amel’s solo career was moderate, but it also appeared to me like she wanted to just put out her music, instead of making hits. But Bryce was good for business!. Nice work 👍🏾

They needed a good mgr someone else to "reel them in". They didn't know each other well enough for the "love aspect" even in business however they needed someone to help them "use their head" so to speak. Moreso her than him bcuz he already had experience from his former group so he understood "some things". She was the new kid on the block (to the music biz) and she definitely needed someone to help her make smart business decisions. It sounds like they taught her unbeknownst to her how to be a snake & it backfired on her (for the long-term).

Amel unfortunately made a mistake that most people do in this business sometimes. Learning how to play your role. When I heard that album. I was playing it all the time. I thought they were going to blow up even more. But, now hearing this. I understand why. As an artist myself. I was in groups. It's not easy. The dynamics of a group iis knowing how to play your your role. She came in working with Bryce. If she stayed in her role it would've been incredible. I have the same problem as an independent songwriter and producer with artists that I cherry pick with real talent but don’t have the ability to arrange and produce songs for themselves properly. With my music and vision, we top all of the indie soul music charts in the UK and around the world. But because they’re the lead vocalist, they become egotistical and disrespectful of my overall contribution to the music and marketing of the music. No matter how much tangible success we have collectively, they feel entitled to more and move forward with other projects without my input. Just like Amel without Bryce, it doesn’t resonate the same with the public! I absolutely loved Groove Theory together and really didn’t like Amel’s solo music. It lacks soul and urban appeal. Very unfortunate how many artists self sabotage themselves. 🙉

Amel Larrieux said a long time a go, she left Groove Theory because she wanted to make her own music. She specifically said the sound and style of music on the album wasn't what she was into. And if you listen to all of her solo music, he sounds nothing like Groove Theory, because that wasn't the type of music she wanted to make. She dropped 5 solo albums and 6 EP's. She wasn't bitter. What Bryce does and what Amel does are two different things. Bryce is a writer and producer. Amel is a singer. I don't even know what he's even talking about her.

I was disappointed because she sang through all the songs with her eyes closed and only came alive at the end of the concert when she sang Groove Theory songs. But nothing could escape that unique voice, captivating songwriting, and incredible new music. I was hooked and shortly after that, watched her flourish, spread her wings and become the incredible artist that she was always meant to be. “Groove Theory” restrained her. Imagine if more of these pop stars turned away from just trying to make hits and focused on making authentic music. Bravebird for life!

A producer would appreciate this. Bryce, coming out of the bridge on “Tell me” ‘Give me a new beginning’ is the sweet spot of the song to me! That last measure was a simple change but man did it lock that song tight. People sleep on moments. I wait all song for them 4 beats still to this day.

Welp, she went solo and made some truly beautiful music since. Bryce should do another groove theory album tho. I think H.E.R would be a good choice, or Cleo Sol or Jorja Smith.

My only question is how much was she being paid in general. Not just one particular project. Money can bring out the worst in some people. Both sides could be right and wrong in the situation. Need her side

Man I like Bryce love his production but I don't think he had the right mindset to make that work as a group. But I still truly don't know for sure it's so mysterious. Moral of the story I wish they would come back and make great music again we need it

Im not gonna lie, I bought "Infinite Possibilities" off the strength of the Groove Theory album but found it to be a hard listen - minus a couple of tracks. I always wondered what happended between the Groove Theory album and Infinite Possibilities that made IP sound so flat and bland.

I'd heard that her husband was really controlling and caused a lot of problems. Not sure the merit of that, but it would be interesting to hear her side, especially since he says things like "somebody" told her the songwriter was more important than the producer. Putting the two together, it kinda makes me go "hmmm".

“Didja know, I would go, aaand with you roll caz with you it’s whole, didja know it, didja knooow it” This album is one of my absolute comforts. It played out how it played out, but as long as both of them have been successful in their own endeavors and not being petty years later, it’s all good. Dynamics change sometimes.
