You explained everything in a way that makes a ton of sense, I wish people who absolutely hates Spider for his choices near the end of the film would watch this and realize that he’s not evil for wanting some kind of connection with the only living biological parent he has left, even if he’s half psychopath and basically a clone. Jake is very accepting and welcoming towards Spider, as he knows what it is like to be human and how difficult it is to keep up with the Na'vi physically and culturally. He also defends Spider in situations where Neytiri is angry with him. Jake has always tried to make Spider feel welcome around his family, even when Neytiri objects to his presence and says that as a human, he "belongs with his own kind." Despite Neytiri's resentment of Spider, Jake never pushed him aside, though he did not consider him a son at first (as was evident by his absence in situations like their "family photo" and comparing him to being like a stray cat following them around). Despite not being his biological son and certainly being rejected by Neytiri, Miles has always held great respect for Jake, following his orders and learning from his teachings. In The High Ground, Jake mentions that because he technically motivated the Na'vi to engage in a war against the RDA, this resulted in Quaritch's and Paz's deaths. Feeling partially responsible for orphaning the boy, Jake cuts Miles some slack as a result and hopes he does not turn out like his father Quaritch. Similar to Jake, young Miles has also learned to commit to the family and protect it at all costs. His loyalty is demonstrated when, in the end, instead of returning with his biological father, Quaritch, he decides to return to the Sullys. Jake embraced him and Lo'ak and stated that he got "a son for a son," meaning that he lost one son and gained another.

I would have preferred to see that Neytiri never-ending resentment, rejection, and once threatening to kill him would push him off. Especially the last one shows that Neytiri still sees Spider as a human and therefore a demon. Would be interesting to Spider having a cognitive dissonance between staying to RDA and not offering great resistance and RDA inhumane treatment to the Na'vi, where he feel he belongs, and wanting to reunite to his siblings and adopted-father or

I like how Tonowari mentioned that the human boy (Spider) speaks Na'vi, and Jake knows that Spider learns how speaks Na'vi language. I'm very excited to see Spider interact with the Metkayina clans since Tonowari lets the Sully family live in their village after the final battle and the death of Neteyam.

Spider also has a bit of a Tarzan Vibe imo. An orphan boy, adopted but different and somewhat accepted as a member of the tribe, Some fully accepting of him but even labeled outsider by others. But though he does things differently he has more than proved himself; but still he is still only part accepted. He also has Tarzan's locks.

While their relationship isn’t shown in great detail, Spider is much closer to Neteyam's younger siblings. Spider leaves out Neteyam's name when he lists the "family" he has left. While in the beginning of the film after being wounded in the mag-lev assault Spider was heard teasing Neteyam when he was being patched up by his grandmother Mo’at, while later on in the film, Spider was caught on the ship, Neteyam felt the risk was too great to bother saving him, and it was only when Lo'ak insisted that Neteyam agreed to the rescue. Neteyam is also seen doing an annoyed growl at the idea. Despite this, Neteyam risked his life and perished in order to save Spider from Quaritch. Spider was crying after he learned that Neteyam had perished.

I loved Spider. He was one of my favorites, and I wish he'd gotten more screen time. I feel like there was a lot more factors in his choice to save Quaritch than we get to see. You have the father-son thing, and while Spider never seems impressed it is still likely a draw to him. Quaritch saves Spider from the scientists and, after acknowledging his skill with Na'vi language and culture, treats him as a mentor. It was probably the first time Spider had anyone value him in that way. It honestly gives me the same kind of vibes as when Neytiri was teaching Jake. Also, they spent the same amount of time together that the Sullys did learning the way of water. I wish we could have seen some of that. It had to have been weeks, if not months. When they're flying on the ikran together you can feel there's a more relaxed air between them. I'm not sure if Spider feels a familial bond, but they do seem to be closer. Of course when they get on the ship and Quaritch starts Quaritch-ing that bond begins to deteriorate. I think if Quaritch had always acted like that then Spider could have walked away at the end. But between the remains of the bond and Quaritch sparing Kiri to save Spider, it was enough. You can tell from the growling and cussing that Spider is mad at himself for being unable to leave Quaritch, and I feel like if he had there would have been this nebulous regret following him. I do think Spider's loyalty has always been to the Na'vi, particularly to Kiri and Lo'ak. He never hesitates when Lo'ak and Neteyam come to save him, or to pull Kiri and Tuk away after Neytiri releases him. I just think that in Spider's mind Quaritch was counted as more of an avatar than a recom. I think he would have easily left any of the other recoms, but with Quaritch the line blurred. I'm curious to see how things go moving forward. Like, will Spider tell anyone he saved Quaritch, will Quaritch tell to sow dissent, or is it always their secret? Has Quaritch written Spider off, or is he going to attempt to sway him? Will the bond between them sway Quaritch somehow? Also just throwing this out there, but I ship Spider and Kiri XD I've never read the comics so maybe I'm way off and essentially shipping siblings, but their bond seems especially close. Lots of touching and eye contact.

Many people who were abused by their parents love them and hate them at the same time and leave them emotionally confused. I bet Spider feels that same way about Miles. Luke Skywalker felt that way about Darth Vader. Yes Darth Vader did a lot of bad things, but when Obi Wan told Luke he had to fight him in Return Of The Jedi, Luke felt like he couldn’t kill him because he was his father

After Neteyam's death, Jake is relieved to see Spider return, embracing him and Lo'ak together while saying "a son for a son" as he lost a son and gained another.

Neytiri does, however, push Spider behind her instead of towards Quaritch, which may be perceived as a hint. Neytiri may care about his welfare to some degree. Despite Neytiri's rejection of him, Spider has never let it influence his commitment and loyalty to those he considers family. Even after she nearly killed him, he returned to the Sully family, knowing that Neytiri would not welcome him with open arms.

Both concept art and set photo of Spider have his queue back of his skull. The concept art shows that Spider has a longer queue while holding Kiri's hand. Spoiler: With Spider able to breathe the air and have a queue of some kind, there might not be any need for him to get an Avatar body.

Well she made an exception for Jake, but that's it, it doesn't mean she has to tolerate every human now. So I totally understand her position and i think it's the right one. She doesn't have to tolerate her colonizers, even "innocent" kids like Spider. Because she hates "humans", not RDA, and spider is a human. And he's dangerously close to her family that's making her stressed. That's why she tolerates Dr. Norm and other scientists, but is always pissed with spider - he's too close. As a person being in war myself, i deeply resonate with her thinking - i blindly hate our colonizers too, adults, kids, innocents, guilty - don't care 🤷‍♀️ It's probably harder to grasp for people who have not seen war.

Spider is very loyal to the Na'vi, doing whatever he can to buy them time and even tells Ardmore he would rather die than disclose the Na'vi's location. He tries to mislead the Recombinants away from the Na'vi while also wanting them turn away from the RDA and reform them by teaching them about the ways of the Na'vi. He is one of the few humans who developed a deep connection with the world of Pandora, trying to learn about the traditions and culture of the Na'vi, similar to Grace or Jake. Spider also exhibits compassion for other living beings, such as the tulkun, and is visibly distraught upon watching a live broadcast of them being hunted by humans. He is dismayed that the rest of the Cet-Ops don't seem to care about their lives, viewing them only as beings to be harvested and exploited, and he is particularly annoyed when the RDA only extracts their amrita and does not bother to at least use the most of their bodies for resources after. His compassion for others even results in him saving Quaritch's life. Spider can also have quite the temper and attitude when agitated, using language like "dipshit". He has an exceptionally strong will, able to resist the RDA's interrogation for an extensive amount of time.

Spider is very similar to the fictional character Tarzan. They are both teenagers with dead parents, were raised in the wilderness by another species (Na'vi/gorillas), have dreadlocks, wear loincloths, have strong climbing abilities and have compassion for animals. They both have to challenge a man who harbors hatred for the Na'vi/gorillas (Quaritch and Clayton). Both can also be considered Disney characters as well.

Well, Spider is a human character that lives in an alien environment both physically and literally, even though he has prevailed in aspects of adapting in a hostile environment with the na’vi. He hunts like them, he mimics their mannerisms like hisses noises, he respects their culture and love the people that he calls family, despite his natural climbing skills and peaks human human condition. Spider has limitations to his way of living on Pandora. He is not as fast or strong as regular Na’vi even though I still that he is, but he can’t breathe the air more than a few minutes, he cannot neural connect to any animal or plant life on Pandora, or even Ewya. YES, his adoptive family loves, Lo’ak, kiri, tuk, Jake, and Neyetam. Neytiri is still up for debate. He’s the son of Sully's family, greatest foe, Quaritch. But Spider is still a young individual with a strong heart of gold that will never waver. Especially when it comes to his family and home.

Then, unexpectedly, the boy's blue paint strokes begin to glow. Roots from the ground wrap around Spider. Until, finally, her lungs fill with the rich air of Pandora. Spider is out of sorts. Kiri has a thousand questions in her head, but none of them matter now. Spider is safe. And, with euphoric joy, she rushes towards him to embrace him. Possibly spoiler for Avatar 3.

Spider will become stronger with the upcoming Avatar sequels, as he should. To overcome adversity is to challenge yourself to do things you have never done before. Like Spider will face adversity by adapting to a different environment and new people like how the Sully did with the Metkayina, Spider will adapt with both water biome and in the ways of the Metkayina, by practicing in their coming of age ritual ceremonies, something he didn’t get to do with the Omaticaya clan.

I know I feel it’s going to be epic, heroic, tragic, and visually stunning for the final battle at the Bridgehead for Avatar 3 (2025). All of the above, the excitement of watching a visual masterpiece at its peak, like the final battle at the Hallelujah mountains and the final battle at three brothers rock. I wonder if one of the Sully children won't be able to respond to their parents as the final battle starts. Similar to Jake and Neytiri in two Avatar movies. like either the Ewya heard from the Sully children or Payakan saved the sully kids once again, but this time with Spider.

From an early age, growing up in the forest, Spider gained speed, agility, cunning, and fighting abilities virtually unknown to humans. This is partly due to Pandora's lower gravity than Earth. Like the Na'vi, he learned to read clues and pick up the faintest sounds, use a bow, scale the dangerous Hallelujah Mountains, and successfully fight for survival in Pandora's hostile environment. He can also swim and is able to hold his breath for even a few minutes. Unfortunately, despite his deep desire, he is unable to live a full life as a Na'vi, as his weaknesses include his addiction to exopacks and the lack of a braid to connect to his body with other life forms, as well as with Eywa herself.

Avatar 3: New Photo Spoils Key Scene With Spider. While the exact plot details of Avatar 3 are still being kept under wraps, new photos may have already spoiled a key interaction between Jack Champion's Spider and an important character. Despite being a newcomer to the franchise, Jack Champion's Spider played an important role in Avatar: The Way of Water. In the movie, it was revealed that Spider is actually the son of Colonel Miles Quaritch aka the franchise's big bad. Aside from the fact that one of Avatar 2's bonus features already revealed a key scene involving Spider, there is still so much to learn about the character's significance and it is expected that it will be further addressed in Avatar 3. In a new featurette from Avatar: The Way of Water's recent home media release, a behind-the-scenes look at a scene from Avatar 3 shows the first interaction between Jack Champion's Spider and Bailey Bass' Tsireya of the Metkayina Clan. The video shows Spider handling Tsireya a bottle of some kind, with the latter being in awe of this action. Given that the pair didn't share scenes in Avatar 2, it's possible that Tsireya's amazement could be due to the fact that it is the first time that she sees a Sky person aka human up close. Why Did Spider Go to the Metkayina Clan in Avatar 3? At the end of Avatar: The Way of Water, the Sully family were mourning the death of Netayam while also being welcomed by the Metkayina Clan as one of their own. In Avatar 3, it's possible that Jake Sully wants to bring Spider as part of the Metkayina Clan as well, leading to his first interaction with Tsireya. The exchange between Spider and Tsireya could also hint at something romantic between the pair, which spells bad news for Lo'ak. Given that Avatar 3 director James Cameron already spoiled that Lo'ak will be the movie's narrator, it's safe to assume that a good chunk of the threequel could revolve around a potential love triangle between Lo'ak, Tsireya, and Spider. This is on top of the major conflict between the RDA and the Na'vi and the emergence of a brand new villain that would emerge from Pandora itself. Avatar 3 is set to premiere in theaters on December 19, 2025.

It is ambiguous if Spider can be considered Neytiri's adopted son at the moment. She is shown to find his existence traumatizing and uncomfortable. She was apparently willing to stab the boy to death, and she does not necessarily accept him into the family like Jake does. Thus, it can be considered wrong to force this interpretation of Neytiri as being his "adoptive mother" onto the wiki, hence the "possible."

Neytiri will learn that not all Na'vi are good and that not all humans are evil. From leaks and information, we know that the people of the Ashes will be unfriendly clan. I don't think Spider is treated as a "good man" because his path already shows that he is a good person, and his story takes a different path, I wondered that this could be Dr. Karina Mouge. I don't know what her impact will be among the Na'vi, but I believe she may have an involvement with Neytiri and Spider. Grace was a great scientist/teacher and was always on the side of the Omatikaya clan, but the other hand, Dr. Karina Mouge is really a peacemaker. This is for upcoming Avatar 3 (2025).

Kiri Spider has a very close and special relationship with Kiri. She compares him to being like "the brother she never had," despite having two already. Both seem to like spending time together, for example, when she helps him apply blue paint to his skin. They enjoy having common activities and constantly try to protect each other. She gave him the nickname of "Monkey Boy," using it particularly in the moments when they both joke around. Kiri makes several attempts to include Spider as part of the family, but this just ends up irritating Neytiri. It was during the events of Avatar: The High Ground that it was shown how strong their bond is, as they both risked their lives for each other on multiple occasions. When Spider was abducted by SecOps, Kiri felt emotionally distressed and was clearly worried for his safety, even crying desperately after this. When he managed to return with the Sullys after the battle, Kiri was visibly surprised and pleased to see him safe and sound, placing her hand on his chest as they exchanged glances and smiled. They were last seen together holding hands during Neteyam's funeral.

Spider isn't a Navi, but he's a Pandoran human, not an earthling. Without some kind of life support or other 22nd century technology, he'd have a very difficult time living on Earth because of the heavier gravity, he'd be Mr Glass from the Unbreakable movies. That's on top of having no social connection to Earth besides maybe relatives that he never met. Pandora is his home. He's in a tough situation for a lot of reasons, it'll be interesting to see what happens to him

I think Spider is such an interesting character! This kid, left on an alien planet that isn't suited for raising children, has no human connections his age, and his carers are generally too busy for him, untill they leave him behind entirely as a teen. He manages to keep up with much bigger, taller, stronger aliens, while having to wear a respirator. And after all that he is just left behind yet again, because inspite of growing up in the village, only 2 other kids and no adults care about him in any way. That's tough. I found Neytiri to be very unpleasant in this film. Hating a kid because of the actions of his parents (that she already brought to justice, and the kid barely remembers them anyway, it's not like they raised him to share their views), hating humans, even though her husband is an "ex-human"... Come on, grow up, Naytiri. And she has - indirectly - caused the death of her own son: as adults (no doubt partly influenced by her attitude) refused to do anything to try and save Spider, the teens decided to do it themselves and put themselves in danger. Of course they did, what else could have happened?

Regardless of his feelings for Quaritch, Jake and Neytiri, Spider was raised to love nature and the Na'vi as a whole. We see this with his dispair when animals and nature are destroyed and his panic when a spirit leader was threatened. I think Spider saved Quaritch in thanks for stopping the machine and because it was a life he could save, and he'd been taught to respect all life. He grew up knowing the importance of the battle between the Humans and the Navi and what was at stake and he heard Quaritch say 'nothing's over whilst I'm breathing' so he knew Quaritch had to die to end the war. So it was nothing personal, except for Neytiri as he destroyed her home, the Tree of Voices, killed her father, humans killed her sister and were trying to destroy the Tree of Souls! Okay, maybe it was a bit personal! Then Quaritch or the Sky People kill her first born! Looking at this list it is understandable that Neytiri really would have killed Spider and that Quaritch knew she would! There's bound to be some issues with Neytiri when she learns Spider saved Quaritch! Still, it's going to be interesting to see what happens when the humans learn Spider saved Quaritch, and what Quaritch is going to do now his time and resources to catch Jake are up. However, they do know where he is now, so what will happen next? Will there be another war? Will Jake become Toruk Mukto again? Will Kiri use her connection to Eywa as a weapon to aid the Na'vi? James Cameron only knows!

Neytiri has a strained relationship with Spider. Neytiri had a hard time accepting Spider because she always saw him as one of the people who killed her father and destroyed her home.[3] Since he was young, Neytiri disliked him playing with her children and she believed he would be better off with his own kind. She also entirely blames the sky people for the war that took place on Pandora a decade and a half ago; when Spider calls it "our war", an infuriated Neytiri says "it is your war" back at him. Despite his arguments regarding his innocence and the fact that he had nothing to do with his parents' crimes, Neytiri ignored any words from the boy. He believes she hates him, and he does not consider her his true adoptive mother, referring to her instead as "Mrs. Sully. " At one point, Kiri invites Spider into a family gathering, which greatly irritates Neytiri. Neytiri views him as trouble and does not like Kiri being around him, later on trying to forbid the two from any interaction, telling an incredibly upset Kiri that he is not part of the family. Later, when Neytiri slaughters the humans on the SeaDragon in rage over the death of Neteyam, Spider fearfully hides from her, possibly thinking she might kill him as well. In order to get Kiri back, Neytiri held Spider hostage and slightly cut him across the chest as a threat to Quaritch. For a moment, she even seemed willing to fatally stab him, although it is unclear if she was bluffing or not. Despite surviving with just a scratch, Spider was visibly shocked after this. Neytiri does, however, push Spider behind her instead of towards Quaritch, which may be perceived as a hint. Neytiri may care about his welfare to some degree. Despite Neytiri's rejection of him, Spider has never let it influence his commitment and loyalty to those he considers family. Even after she nearly killed him, he returned to the Sully family, knowing that Neytiri would not welcome him with open arms.
