The snipping technic for eBay is my fav. Bidding any time sooner is just running up the price for that item.

Ha. Great point regarding sniping. I got hosed too many times way back when i first started on ebay and read about how sniping is wrong but happens. I then tried it and haven't looked back. Thanks!

Another well done video. I sold my first comic a few months ago, only 5500 more to go. Learning how to do things better every day, and getting great experience with each buy or sale, while waiting for my first graded books to finally arrive from CGC and go up for sale. Thanks again!!

Bry, I used to be a pro photographer and if you're open to some advice I would suggest you get yourself a medium size light modifier like a softbox or umbrella and a good powerful (not necessarily expensive) LED light. Place it below eye level to get light under the brim of your hat. Barring that you could take a cheap shop light, bounce it against the wall in front of you (if the wall is white or neutral grey color) and that should also give you a nice diffuse light. You might even make do by placing a white reflector on top of the table to bounce light up under the brim of the hat. Right now the brim of your hat is creating a shadow across your eyes which is not flattering.

I’ve been trying to get someone local to come help me out, I know my lighting sucks. Doesn’t even need to be cheap..but I can’t find anyone! So annoying...

I've won over 1600 auctions on ebay since 2001 and started sniping after my first auction when I learned my lesson not to enter a bidding war. One trick I use is to add a few cents to my sniping final bid because the vast majority of bidders bid in whole dollar amounts. I just won an auction today by $0.08 doing this.
@zachbrobst94733 жыл бұрын
Sniping works. I get 90% or better of the books I bid on. It's a little dirty but that's the meta 🤷

I literally have mastered the snipe lol since I began selling. I use to lose out a lot until I realized the bid up for you as well. Coming up with that maximum amount and putting it in and leaving it gives you a sense of peace and says if I get it it’s for me if not that’s all I was willing to pay so back to hunting. Great advice!

Great video, I found it very educational. I’ve also noticed that auctions that end at the same time are great for buyers. I reason that most buyers will go for the hottest book at the moment letting other books go below FMV.

This is the exact type of informative video that you've made in the past which brought me on as a subscriber. Great work! I do feel there are some benefits to selling as a lot that could maybe be touched upon, but you're right as a general rule to list individually. I also can't stress enough the importance of tip #4. I've gotten into many disputes over what qualifies as NM+ and now only list as 'NM or better'. I had one guy argue an NM+ listing due to finding a dog hair in the bag and board...

Auctions always make sense for silver or bronze age mid grade when there are literally 50 or more other listings of the same book at BIN, unless you can wait years for someone to pick yours, or you price it below what it would sell for if you did put it at auction

Have you seen the backlash re: raw book grading? You invite a high risk of returns by stating a subjective grade that the customer can "disagree" with if they change their mind.

These are great tips. I use Buy It Now or Best Offer most of the time. This gives the buyer an option to buy mine over other sellers if they send me a good offer. I take 10 to 12 pics as well, like front and back and all for corners most of the time. Sometimes a pic of the inside to show how nice the pages are. I do have one question. I've seen someone sell a similar comic that I'm listing that has 4 copies of one key issue. I have decided to list this very same comic the same way, but at a cheaper price thinking mine would sell as well. It's been several weeks now and I have yet to sell them. Would you break these up and try to sell them individually? Btw, great content as always...keep up the great work.

Successful sniper here. Good advice. People complain about fees but you cannot find a bigger audience for your stuff than eBay. Just beware, that "no returns" doesn't really mean anything when eBay is asked to get involved. I've received a refund, thanks to eBay, every time a seller tried to screw me... despite their "no returns allowed". Sometimes you even get to keep the item free... like my UF4.
