After a chat with the owner, I took another look at certain aspects of this machine and got it running well enough to attempt this test ride.

G'day Paul, glad you found something that helped it run better, still sounds a bit tired but I'm no expert, had a ride on a old one like that once it was great fun untill l had to brake in a hurry at an intersection, never again, cheers mate, Neil 🤠.

I remember the first trial runs out on my bike. I always went to Ashurst beacon about five miles away because it is generally up hill. Never did have to push it home and now four years later a couple of hundred miles over a weekend is no problem. Thats a lovely bike. Regards. Bob.

It's miraculous how sleeping on "problems" often provides solutions...Da Iawn 😊

I enjoyed that, these old V twins do have a certain charm, and sense of purpose about them, you would have been a proud man to own one of them in day's past!! But for me the best thing is that they are still more then capable of doing what there were designed to do all these (near hundred) years later Golden, thank you!

Good job Paul looking forward to hearing what you did to get it running better. Looking at the video, the prospect of you having to break hard to avoid an oncoming vehicle is scary - I’m sure that thing will take half a mile to stop.

Just a thought, based on my experience with my 1929 BSA 250 side valve bike (the baby brother of the V twin, without the power. I noticed when you had it running on the bench that she was smoking from the Valve caps on the top of the barrel. On the 250 these have to be re tightened after about 20 miles of running as they come loose I think it’s enough to lose some compression and what little power it has disappears. Is that one of the issues you found?

You big tease! Keeping us in suspense about what made such a difference. I see it has a twist grip throttle, so my previous comment about juggling levers was off the mark. Dis that piston slap ease off when it got thoroughly warmed through?

Good Day Paul. Curious how you find the ride and handling with the girder front suspension? Looks to work a treat and I have always admired the looks and simplicity of such a front suspension.

Might I bet it was ignition timing? It has a better rumble than previously.

Brilliant Paul. I see it’s slack advance looking at the A/R lever Was the timing slightly out and running retarded yesterday? Sounds lovely mate atm I’ve got used to my hand change on my W33/6 Love it 😻
