BSA Ariel 3 and Puch Maxi Road Trip | Practice run for Tiny Bike Tour 2 ends in disaster

With less than a week to go before we head off on our 1000 mile loop of the south coast Paul and I thought it best to give the bikes a ride out.
Camping kit loaded up and a positive attitude meant a joyous ride, until the first hill.
The Puch Maxi performed flawlessly, powering up hill and cruising at 30+ mph.
Bendy Wendy the BSA Ariel 3 on the other hand was atrocious. Hill climbing was non existent and the noise coming out of her tiny engine would make a deaf man wince.
Is it going to be possible to do a long distance trip on 50cc vintage 2 stoke mopeds.

awesome mate if you get a mechanic to tune the high and low screws on the carburettor you will get better low end torque and better top end toque and speed mate i would be more than happy to do it for you ready for you to use you could also adjust the fuel and 2 stoke oil mixture to make more power but make sure its the correct fuel and oil ratio thats recommended for the bikes engine other wise it will run good and blow up due to poor lubrcation but i think just adjusting the low and high screws would make it so much torqueyer and faster it looks loads of fun to man i miss my motobike it was lovely enjoying the weather grate vid mate keep it up

Cheers dude, Paul is a good mechanic so I'm confident. There is only an idle screw on the carb no mixture screw. Plug is beautiful and biscuit coloured, she's really fussy on air filter tho. Could drop a jet size to get rid of the four stroking

That's awesome! I had my doubts about that bike making it though your upcoming trip. Now I think it's got a chance with all of the needed repairs being taken care of. Like you said, it's a completely different bike. Now if only you could find a comfortable seat, have you looked into jell and or memory foam bike seats or maybe you could have the existing seat covered with them... Just a thought.
