I have two Superstars mark 2 .177 and .22 both full length, the .177 rifle has been VMach tuned by ARC. They are an innovative rifle from BSA mainly because of their rotary breech that allows direct loading. They are reasonably light because there is no need for a steel internal compression tube. My own .177 is very impressive with a nice firing cycle and excellent accuracy using RWS Superdomes. I especially like the rotary breech; it works really well albeit a bit fiddily but there is a knack to it. The raised scope rail is nicely constructed but an odd size with 13mm dovetails so wider mounts than the usual generic 9-11mm type required. In summary; an honest rugged, dependable, accurate-hard hitting, general purpose field rifle.

Very stylish rifle as you highlighted very accurate to. Love mine. The only issue I had was the two breach seals which even after purchasing new one's there was a fluctuation in power. I eventually resolved this issue by having two new ones made by a specialist hydraulic high pressure seal company which works great giving a very consistent power output. I can only assume that this issue was down to wear.

The modern equivalent based on the BSA rotating breech design is the Gamo CFX/CFR/Accu. And also some Turkish clones, namely the Kral Demon and the Ekol Major F. Excellent design but for some strange reason not that popular in the UK and not that available currently from UK air gun retailers.

I have one in .25 purchased when first came out I would not part with it have a .22 & .177 as well the .177 cracking little gun. Owned and sold a lot of .22's until I got this one they were all rubbish for various reasons, the present one shoots really well someone has worked on it and it's a keeper.Never liked the scope rail really off putting when it comes to servicing these. Have to agree BSA should never have stopped producing this gun at least they had enough sense to continue with the Supersport and its successors.

Nice rifle and system, so if i understand correct the piston wil stop before the breech, and the breach is an air tight chamber?

I loved my old Airsporter ! But haven't been all that impressed by their more recent productions feeling that they have gone all 'Space Age' with PCP and fancy Bodywork instead of having something that is rugged and can be dragged around a field or in a Tractor Cab and still do the Business!
