I heard you’re supposed to measure each side and make sure the gap is even from the tire to the body. Sometimes the keys aren’t 100% even and one has to be turned a bit more than the other.
@hiiam_larry292522 сағат бұрын
If you're turning each key the same amount of turns it shouldn't mess up their alignment. if they start off in different positions and are turned the same amount of times, they'll end up proportionally in the same position as they started, just higher
@dailydrivensedans4875 Жыл бұрын
I actrually asked a chevy engineer about this and he said it is desighned too be cranked all the way up for offroad use only. But for on road use he reccommended a maximum of .75 inch raise or a maximum .5" raise if you pull trailers. However if you pull heavy loads nearing the max it should be left stock or the stability and braking can be too far negatively effected that it becomes unsafe. Up too .75"(no trailer there or no/negligible effects on ride quality/performance/safety/allighnment. However when towing a trailer for the most part .5" is fine but depending on load,weight distribution and raised height the stability and braking will be negatively effected. The more weight you pull/higher you lift it the worse it gets. Basically lots of variables but simplified: No towing on road use-.75" Off road use-as high as you want Light towing-up too .5" Heavy towing-0/0"-do not crank keys Edit:following those guidlines under normal circumstances/factory suspension you will not run into any mechanical/safety/performance problems. Factory ride heights front and rear differ based off of options including: towing packages, offroad packages, engine, differential, single cab etc... but for the most part too achieve a true "level" a leveling kit OR upgraded/larger torsion keys are reccommended. You CAN do it full time just cranking the factory keys but going that route larger keys altogether are a better idea..... If you get larger keys or crank the keys over .75" then suspension longevity and tire wear can(will) be effected and affected.

Can you do this, just to level out a stock truck without to much issue?
@kcscustom97595 жыл бұрын
Shiny Knife: yes you can. Just be careful of the upper control arm stop clearance. And keep in mind generally the higher you crank them without doing any other modifications the worse the ride quality is going to be. What I did with my truck for the time being Is settled for a happy medium, being almost level with a decent ride. However if you want to really crank them up to get it completely level but don’t want to buy a leveling kit and don’t want bad ride quality one option is to get a pair of strut spacers. There fairly cheap and easy enough for anyone to install on their own. Or to save a couple bucks If you know someone that’s decent with fabrication there really easy to make.
@ShinyKnife5 жыл бұрын
@Keith I Think I’m just going to leave it alone. It rides good. I just wanted the front to match the rear. But I don’t want to jeopardize the ride Quality or tear anything up. I might check into a proper leveling kit if I decide to do it. Thanks for the info

Point is my friend, each person, career, knowledge and vehicle is different and definitely not the same nor have the same negative experiences another has or have. Not everyone is going to have the same results you all did and vice versa so accept that and try n losen up on the personal judgment calls all because you or someone you knew had a bad experience unfortunately! definitely wider wheels. i have 2” spacers on my 2012 colorado and i’m scared shitless of them falling off. save your money buy deep dish wheels. i have a buddy that had 3” spacers and his wheels fell off and totaled his truck.
