Snyder has had a brilliant career and is an all time great.But both of these guys are and athletic, technical and huge (don’t think either of them will make (97 like Snyder again 🤣) as sophomores-was impressed with the low shots, the sprawl into a reshot, the scrambles, excellent wrestling match, not 2 giant guys pushing and mauling for 7 minutes

@@Gymthingz well.. I'm not disputing that..i went 0-24 as a 135 lber my senior year @ Anchorage Prep Academy in Anchorage Alaska. My opponents won by tech. fall in 80% of the matches as well. Unfortunately I couldn't get any forfeits that year to get me some wins. I'm the most losing wrestler in Alaska state history. I even made the local paper for it.

@@DB-115 oh wow. That's an interesting point. My callout was that because hes been this way for a whole 2 years now. And it's just odd so many other people noticed. I get it wrestling is weird to watch. You see 2 guys domainte others. Then you see them battle and the one that wins, you see how much better they are then the field. Once you see how far they set themselves apart from the 2nd guy.

@@Gymthingz to be fair though Parris is by far the most athletic guy he's wrestled collegiately & he made it look so easy. Even last year losing to Cassar twice I'd say I didn't see such athleticism hence I didn't know it was there. He moved like a light weight in this match. And as far as my career no worries. It was my first year ever wrestling & with no experience I was thrown out to the wolves.

@@DB-115 Cassar is more athletic than Parris. Watch the Cassar, Parris match. Parris may have gained a little bit (I think he was below Cassar's weight last year). Cassar's speed and power are in avoiding takedowns and getting deep on a double. Steveson has always been lighter and more athletic - how many big guys go high and then follow up with an ankle pick? He plays with most guys because he can go anywhere head to toe and a follow up shot could be 6 feet below the last one. It was strange to see him play it as conservative as he did against cassar last year - twice. I felt (as a penn state alum) like he looked like he had a better tool set than cassar, but there are some intagibles. The cartwheel escape attempt that he made in the first match - I'll bet he gets away every single time with that, but cassar probably wrestles cael, and he hung with it. Steveson and cassar both have gas tanks that nobody else at heavyweight has.

Complete domination is a stretch. Gable could have easily been hit with another stall in the 3rd period, which would have had this match going into SV. The big difference between the two was the decisiveness that Gable shows on his shots. He picks his spot and commits to it, and drives through the take down. Parris got in deep on 3 occasions with his shot, deeper than anyone has against Gable, but stalled out. Had he been more decisive (burst through my old coach called it) with those 3 shots, its a completely different match. See the deep shot in the First period by Mason...He basically stopped when he got the ankle. Had he burst through, he would have taken Gable down.

This scoring table at the BIG 10 doesn't appear to be 5ft back from the out of bounds line. This is ridiculous for a sanctioned event... Even if somehow this was 5ft ...sure doesn't look it they need to move these scoring tables back to 10ft. With the current scoring rules you would think this would be changed as the action is now occuring outside of the out of bounds line. Clearly for these large wrestlers with wingspans well over 7ft the current standard is dangerous...Someone will be concussed on one of these tables and it will be the fault of the NCAA and whoever is allowing this to go unchecked. Current rules are :The matted apron around the wrestling area shall extend at least 5 feet between out of bounds lines, and when 2 mats are side-by side at least 5 feet from the out of bounds line and any obstruction such as a table, bleachers, or walls. See drawing on WR-11.

@@greatstate58 well I wrestled all through school for Rex Peckinpaugh in New Castle, Indiana. I knew Mason Parris he whipped up on our 182 everytime which was two years older than him and no punk and had also wrestled his whole life. Just heat of moment what I said right after I seen the match. I didn't intend to send any bad or negative vibes bro. And Gable is actually from Indiana I believe but moved to Minnesota in 8th grade. I'm glad and happy for em. He done just what was needed to win. No one can deny he stalled but it's all down to the strategy he had to use in that situation. No hard feelings to anyone I cant hate on em Gable is a monster. I just wanted Parris to win just because of the fact I had seen him wrestle in person and was from close to my hometown. Just looking forward to there match up in two weeks. Peace love and positivity fellas that's all i can say. Happy Monday. Hope everyone's day is great. It is what you make it!

Great great match. My only complaint is with about a minute and a half left the ref should have awarded a point forestalling. This would have incentivized both of them to put it all on the line.

I believe Stevenson had more in the tank than Parris at the end of the day. Parris had some sloppy shot here and there but towards middle- end of the match you could see how he was relaxing. I think Parris was also in his own head before because he should know better when it comes to scoring on a higher level opponent

Gable should be running away with this. He's clearly the best wrestler out of the bunch. However, because he tends to slow down a lot, he'll end up with a two-point lead in a match he has dominated.
@greatstate58
@greatstate58 4 жыл бұрын
It has very little to do with slowing down and everything to do with him not caring about escape points. If there is no escape points this man pitches a shut out every time. He doesn’t care to get in scrambles trying to control ppl on the ground especially considering his biggest goal is to be great at the world level.
@tdavidg9176
@tdavidg9176 4 жыл бұрын
john doe exactly, in freestyle the wrestler taken down gets no points coming back up since the ref calls it. Gable wants to be on his feet because he is so dominant there.
