So like there’s these 12 aliens called trolls, one for each zodiac sign, and they all play a video game called “sgrub”, and they all lose since these trolls suck. So they all die. In homestuck, when you don’t die a “just” or “heroic” death, you go to a dream bubble, which is like heaven. The trolls enter the dream bubble, and the scratch happens. The scratch is like a reset that recreates the universe but slightly different, but the old universe still exists. For example, the first human’s scratch makes all the adults the children, and all the children adults. So then there’s these new trolls who are EPIC, again, one for every zodiac sign, who’s personalities are based off both the personalities of the zodiacs, and internet trolls. Then they all play a video game, and all win, and by the way, when a player of the game enters the medium, they go to like some fuckin planet called land of blank and blank, and they orbit a planet called skaia. Also orbiting skaia, prospit and derse. On these planets, there are dersites and prospitans. So when they enter land of blank and blank, a dersite/prospitan is banished to their planet as their exile. Most trolls and all humans have one. They’re on their end game pad, and are rewarded with the ultimate prize, a new universe. They planned to enter the new universe and rule it as tyrants, but are prevented to do so by a dersite called jack noir. In the troll’s universe, they also have jack noir, but his name is spades slick. Spades slick didn’t get the ring in this universe, so he has no powers, so he was banished to alternia (the troll’s planet). The exiles all have moniters so that they can see years in the past, and interfere with the player’s session. So spades becomes Karkat (the cancer sign troll who LOVES THAT 69 BABY) ‘s exile. But the new universe’s jack noir got the ring, and each time a sprite (which is like a guide for the players of the game) is prototyped (basically giving it weird abilities, for example, if I prototyped a sprite with a microwave, then I would microwavesprite, who can heat things up) the boss of the game gets the sprites powers. The human’s sprites are davesprite, nannasprite, becsprite, and jaspersprite, so jack has the sword skillz and sword impaling him and wings of davesprite, the harlequin hat of nannasprite, the tentacles and cat body of jasperssprite, and finally, bec gets prototyped. Bec is one of the human’s dogs, and he can morph time and space to his will, basically time travel and teleportation. So jack now has bec’s time travel and teleportation, and teleports to the trolls universe and goes back in time to when the trolls won, and kills most of their dream selves. So then he’s trapped in the troll’s session for a while, and let’s get to the part where shit started to fly off the hook and why. John Egbert, Rose Lalonde, Jade Harley, and Dave Strider are all humans who have on guardian, whether is be a parent, a dog, or a big brother. They all play a version of sgrub called sburb, and then they all blah blah enter land of blank and blank blah blah. It’s exactly the same as the troll’s universe but with humans instead of trolls. Then jack noir is fed up with wearing hats that the black queen forces him to wear (and by the way, the black king/queen are supposed to be the final boss of the game, so they have all the sprites powers) shitty harlequin hats, and kills her, and steals her ring. Jack puts it on, becoming the new final boss of the game. He flies onto the battle field, kills some dersites and prospitans, and banishes some of them to earth. How about alternate timeline dave? By the way, each kid has a power over a certain thing, like karkat being the knight of blood, or dave being the knight of time. So john tries getting to skaia prematurely, and dies. I’m pretty sure everyone else is killed by jack noir. Dave then prototypes his sprite with cal, a puppet his bro uses, and is forced to suffer the consequences. Calsprite doesn’t talk, and just laughs. Dave uses his time powers to go back in time, and prototype himself with past dave’s sprite, becoming davesprite. Davesprite makes sure john doesn’t enter to early and helps bro fight jack noir. Then, one of the trolls puts john to sleep before he can prototype jade’s sprite, and if her sprite isn’t prototyped, she’ll get killed by a meteor, and won’t enter the land of blank and blank. So bec prototypes himself with her sprite, and makes jack noir super strong. He kills bro, dad, and mom, and goes to the troll’s session and kills all of their dream selves. All the kids go god tier, and its revealed to them by karkat that their session is doomed to fail no matter what. So they initiate the scratch, and in the new universe, the kids are the guardians, and the guardians are the kids. We have dirk, aka tiny bro, roxy, aka tiny mom, jake English, aka tiny grandpa (jade’s old guardian before he died and was replaced with bec), and jane, aka tiny nanna. In their universe, there are no trolls, rather cherubs, who live on future earth. A cherub is an alien body shared by two different minds. The cherubs we see in homestuck are calliope, who is nice to the players and helps them, and caliborn who is more like a troll. The cherubs chain each other’s legs to the wall, and each mind only knows how to unlock one, that way, they can’t escape and have the body controlled by one. Oh, how about lord English. There are a bunch of lornd engli! Jake English, new universe jack noir gets possessed by lord English, doc scratch, a guardian from the troll’s universe, becomes lord English, and caliborn becomes lord English when he’s an adult. Lord English is a demon that sollux, one of the trolls, created to be summoned at the end of the universe, but due to caliborn having power over time, he can appear before his summoning. So the trolls, the old trolls, the kids, and the new kids, all team up to fight the lord engli, betty crocker (a troll who, in both universes, found earth and conquered it with awful food), the felt (lord english’s gang, and spades slick’s rival gang) jack noir, and a mail man who is trying to get revenge on jack noir. Read it. No, seriously, I think anyone can pick up homestuck, read it, and like it.

it would take literal weeks straight to understand every little detail of even the first few acts, and personally I don't fully understand, and I think that's half the fun of it. as long as you understand the basic concept that this is a life or death game with a fantastical reward at the end... you'll be fine.

I think a lot of people misunderstand what the appeal of Homestuck is, and that bars them from entry. It's *got* a complicated lore, sure. But you can also just smile and nod, follow the basic beats of the story and enjoy the various comical or heartfelt moments, and it will be perfectly enjoyable just the same. When you get the impression that the lore is very serious, then the moments of deliberate silliness seem... well, silly. But that's on purpose. It's supposed to be goofy sometimes.

These are incredibly helpful, but I do have one correction. After Aradiabot attacks Vriska, she doesn't just 'somehow recover'. Tavros takes her to the troll's equivalent of a Quest Bed, where after a huge ordeal with her psychically manipulating Tavros from Prospit as her dream self in attempts to have home kill her, she bleeds out and becomes God Tier. Aside from that, you're spot on though!!

This made me realize something, in every sburb session, the session itself is on it's own timeline, and the meteors weren't signs of the session begining, rather that john accidentally sent a bunch to earth, along with the babies, and each went to a different place on the earth timeline,and in the alpha session, that's how dirk and roxy were able to communicate with jake and jane, the messages go through the medium befor coming back. though at this point none of this makes sense, and I'll just say search up the Doctor Who "wibbily wobbily" speech.

I tried reading it, but only got to the cutscene where he looks over neighborhood and says it will be a long day. To each their own. Homestuck is definitely unecessarily long for the story it wants to say, and is bloated with memes, references, and entire arcs that don't really go anywhere and feel like filler. However, the general plot is pretty well done, and could honestly be salvaged into a much better product. I love Homestuck for my own reasons, but I can totally see why it would turn a lot of people away.

1. Prospit orbits Skaia, and Derse is further out. If it helps, Skaia is like the sun, Prospit is like Mercury, the four kids's planets are like Earth except there are four of them and they don't orbit (they just stay there), the Veil is like the asteroid belt, and Derse is like Jupiter or Saturn (or any other planet past the asteroid belt). The Incipisphere is basically just their game session's "solar system," except it rotates around Skaia instead of the sun. 2. Alternia is a planet in another universe, and the twelve trolls from that planet played "SGRUB" and created the human's universe, where Earth is. Then the four kids from Earth play "SBURB." However, their actions will later cause an "Invincible Demon" to be made, and that demon finds its way to the twelve trolls. The trolls then find out who caused the demon, and use their chat client (which can access the past and future) to talk to and/or troll the four kids. Act 5 Act 2 goes more into depth on how the trolls discover the four kids, and the trolls and kids get more involved with eachother. 3. Hm... I'll try to point out some of the important events here: 1. John enters the game. (End of Act 1) 2. Years in the future, but not many... WV finds the command station. (Beginning of Act 2) 3. Nannasprite explains some basics of how the Incipisphere, Derse, and Prospit work. (Act 2) 4. Rose has to go to the tomb of her cat, Jaspers, to use the backup generator for her laptop. (Act 2) 5. Rose drops Dad's car through the clouds, down to John's planet. (Act 2) 6. Years in the future, but not many... WV accidentally eats some Uranium, the power source for the command station he's in. (Act 2) 7. Years in the future, but not many... WV's command station blasts off, flying around the world to the Frog Ruins. (End of Act 2) 8. Jade lives on an island near the Frog Ruins with her god-like dog, Becquerel. (Beginning of Act 3) 9. Jade's grandpa has a lot of fantastical trophies, and created a Dreambot for her, which she controls while dreaming. (Act 3) 10. When Jade sleeps, she wakes up on Prospit's moon. John is on the moon too, but has never woken up. (Act 3) 11. Jade sees visions of the past, present, and future when Prospit's moon briefly dips into Skaia's clouds. (Act 3) 12. Rose flees a forest fire to a neighboring laboratory. The lab contains meteor-trackers and ectobiology gizmos. Rose steals a power source from the lab and leaves, since a meteor is due to hit the lab soon. (Act 3) 13. John realizes he's been drawing graffiti on his walls while asleep, and that he had been repressing that until now. (Act 3) 14. Years in the future, but not many... PM finds a command station that flies her to the Frog Ruins, where she finds WV. AR is there, and tries to shoot at them. (Act 3) 15. Dave's bro (and Lil Cal, the demonic puppet) kick Dave's ass, but give him his game discs anyways. (Act 3) 16. John enters his first gate, Jade enters the Frog Ruins and receives Dave's game discs from the future, and Dad is released from captivity when he destroys Jack Noir's much despised clown hat. Homestuck is too good not to be read. Once you manage to go through the first act everything becomes so tense, in the sense that everything goes down really fast, that you just can't stop reading. You just NEED to know how's Hussie going to manage to write the characters out of every intricated problem they get themselves into. I really recomend everybody to give HS a chance. It's not that difficult to follow once you pass Act 1. Just remember, once you start, don't stop until the end or you will have to go back several thousand pages to pic everything up from where your memory left the story last time.
