Spine Breaker has a similar satirical meaning behind it too.. although the opposite wherein BTS is calling out the errors of the youth! It's worth reacting to! Watch both the lyrics and explained video

I'm happy y'all reacted to this! I totally agree that the message is so universal. I remember Bong Joon-ho said he was surprised that Parasite was so universally relatable, but he realized that it's bc we're all living under the same issue of capitalism. it's the same thing with Baepsae imo. also, you might've noticed this, but the dance choreo (in the bg of the explained video) matches the meaning of the song, too. they swing their legs around a lot, depicting the crow tit trying to mimic the stork, and fall/step back in the chorus, depicting the crow tit's failure.
@kirazalea52342 жыл бұрын
"Y'all are fuckin'?" "Couldn't be me" The whole time you guys were doing that bit, and the portion talking about passion pay, all I could think of was the "you guys are getting paid???" meme
@axis11982 жыл бұрын
Ahh yes, the song that attracted many people because the choreo had hip thrusts but the song meaning is actually too deep and a reality-slapping song.

I’m glad y’all reacted to this but “there’s a baby shortage” was the funniest fucking way he could’ve put that. A baby shortage 💀💀💀🤣🤣🤣 there’s actually a ton of children in foster care who need homes but he’s right, our generation has really given up on having babies because they’re expensive and we don’t get paid enough so we’re like fuck that I’m miserable at work, I don’t want to spend the rest of my day and the weekends taking care of a child. Imma do me. “Fuck them kids,” essentially. Thank you, older generation.

*UGH! explained next!* I think you reacted to UGH! but if you haven't then listen to it first then do DKDKTV's explanation. UGH! is SO relevant now. Everyone should but also so many in ARMY and BTS members fans really should listen to what BTS are saying in it because there is to many people doing the opposite of what they talk about. One of the most important messages now. edit: about Baepsae, they use the word Baepsae other times to, like in 'Not Today', the english subtitles actually say "Hey crowtit, everyone hands up!" but Baepsae/Silverspoon/Try hard/Crowtit all are different ways them saying Baepsae can be translated to, you hear them sing baepsae. In Korea, spoons are used as a metaphor social class. Golden spoons, silver spoons and dirty spoons, you find this used in 'Mic Drop' for example "Yeah, who said my spoon is dirty? I don't care, when I grab the mic, I have several gold spoons".
@rubygalvezrl2 жыл бұрын
I am so glad that an influential group is highlighting these issues, even if it's only to assure the youth that they're not going though all that alone. Some may find BTS' efforts to comfort the youth 'corny' but the reality is that SK has one of the highest rate of teen suicides if not the highest, and loss of hope and being pressured by elders are the main reasons. At least BTS is doing something. I also like their song GoGo for this same reason. It's a song about the youth finding the most trivial form of happiness through retail therapy.
@taeshain2026 Жыл бұрын
Thanks!!! Finally someone also pointing out GoGo! Which has a very similar meaning to Baepsae. The Korean title is even better "고민보다 Go", "instead of worrying, just go". Both Baepsae and Go Go are such unapologetical political songs, and both are often mistaken for "little fun songs". Even the choreos, both are almost stupid, extremely sarcastic, almost as if they are saying "look, you keep saying that we don't work hard enough, that we are a lost generation, so take this, one of the stupidest choreo to a highly sarcastic yet painfully true political stance".
@grace.aquino2 жыл бұрын
Now watch the dance practice! This song is satirical and their choreography brings so much character to the meaning of the song. It feels playful, like child-like playful and ironic. Quite genius really!
@jerseygirl62212 жыл бұрын
The boys were once again ahead of their time with this one😫🔥🔥🔥 I’ve always admired their courage and boldness to make songs about subjects that are considered “controversial” or in this case, criticism of older generations because that’s just not something you do in Korean culture. That’s why they stand out in the Kpop industry and the pop music industry in general.

PREACH!!!!! You guys out did yourselves with Baepsae. This is the song that brought me to BTS and holds a special place. I was just talking to my dad the other day and said, minimum wage is $15.00 and to buy a 4 pack of Charmin TP costs 14.99 plus tax. (I live in NYC, so more expensive if you can even get it) So work an hour and buy some toilet paper. Definitely not normal. LOL 😘💜💜💜💜💜💜💜

I live in Australia where the situation is very much the same. My city is the most expensive housing market in the country where if you were to buy a 1 bedroom apartment would cost at LEAST $400k - $500k AUD if you’re lucky meaning you’d need at least $50k for a deposit just to get a housing loan and then spend the rest of your life paying off the mortgage. Also the cost of childcare for 2 weeks is pretty much the same amount you would receive in wages for the average job so you would be better off being a stay at home parent on welfare or just not having kids at all since the cost of childcare alone would take up all your pay if you were to be a working parent.

Love the reaction and your channel as a whole! I just wanted to give a different view/more context on the declining birth rate comment! (this is something that really fascinates me!) What we in the US are experiencing is called Stage 3 of Demographic Transition, more specifically we are a little bit past the middle of this stage. There are 4 (main) stages in demographic transition, (technically there are usually 5, but it is almost purely conceptual and I was taught these 4) Stage 1: High stationary in which birth rates equal death rates and the population remains stable, typically this is seen in under-developed countries, today there are no countries in this stage. Stage 2: Early Expanding, this is where medicine and technological advances are made which causes the death rate to plummet while the birth rate remains high due to population momentum and economical reasons. This can be seen in developing countries like India. Stage 3: Late Expanding in which quality of living continues to rise and people have less of an incentive to have children. This is seen in most modern-day developed countries like the US, UK, and South Korea. Stage 4: Low Stationary is when the birth rate drops near or equal to the death rate. This is seen in Japan, Italy and I think France as well. While it is very much a bad thing economically (and therefore the government really hates it), it is absolutely amazing from an environmental standpoint. since 1900, the world population has doubled close to three times and is set to double again by 2050 at our current rate. It is also estimated that we will run out of resources around this time as well. Luckily, thanks to the baby shortage, we are heading in the right direction to prevent that! Sorry for such a long comment! I just recently started a unit on Demography so I wanted to nerd out a bit!

Man seriously, older generations always telling us we just need to work hard and save up then we can buy our own houses too - meanwhile ignoring the fact that house prices has shot up 100x but wages for jobs have gone up what, 10x if that? Yeah it's my efforts that are lacking, not the fact that their houses were so cheap they could buy multiple each and are now forcing me to pay rent instead of allowing me to put my money toward buying my own lol. Grrr, baepsae indeed.

Let’s all just agree baby boomers ruined everything everywhere. I’m an older gen z and even I’ve already given up on ideas of marriage and kids cuz 1, I choose to be child free, and 2, cost of existing in general is so high that my job isn’t even enough for me to be able to rent a small apartment by myself and be able to afford food and basics I would need. My grandma is from the boomers generation if I remember right, and she’s always going on about effort. Like lady I work 8 hours almost every day constantly on my feet. It’s not my fault pay is absolute bs today.

The situation in Korea is not the same as the west. Sth Korea is a tiny country with a lot of people. Not like the US, which is huge and you can just move to a more rural area to be able to build a home. There is no land available for the current generation in Sth Korea. Hierarchies also come into play as well as the amount of time dedicated to education and study from early morning to late at night, just to be able to get in to 1 of the 3 top universities. The suicide rate in Sth Korea is the highest in the world.
@jerseygirl62212 жыл бұрын
It’s still relatable though. These rural towns are starting to become as expensive as the cities because people are catching on to building a house in the country, the market for rent and buying is insane right now. So the economic issues have similarities. But I do agree that the Korean school system is a whole different story, it’s heartbreaking to know how detrimental it is especially to younger people.

The children issue here in the U.S. can be rectified by increasing green card holders and work VISA's though.
