That is Jungkook's high note not Jimin's. Even if you watch live any performance of Dope. Even in the latest MOTS: ON E concert Jungkook is the one that hits that high note. Don't believe on false wrong colour coded lyrics.

@@ayushj6216 in the studio version, the high note is by Jimin. idk why they change the part on the live version and this MV particularly, because you can also see some of the Jimin part in this MV is also originally sang by Jungkook in the audio of this MV but Jimin is the one who shown on the screen (I think they intentionally change some of the part from the studio version).

Pre-debute and after their debute, alot of people both netizens and media made fun of BTS, insulted them, said they would fail hard, that they were doomed and their company would go down. But BTS never gave up, but worked their assess off in their practice room with blood, sweat and tears to get where they are today. They started from the bottom and their road has been very hard! So this song from 2015 is kinda like their ”fun take” on all of that to their antis. Yes they’re Dope, yes they succeeded and their hard work paid off. The Korean word that is translated into "Dope" for the title of this song doesn't really mean "dope" in the way we, as English speakers, would interpret that word. It is a somewhat weak translation that loses a lot of the important double meaning of the Korean word used in my opinion. The word they actually use would be more accurately translated as "sick", a word that has more of a double meaning in English as both something that is really cool ("That's so sick, man!") and also a negative physical experience. The Korean word literally means drenched in sweat or something to that extent (mind you, I am not Korean, I got this from watching a reaction by some older Korean men), but is now used as slang by younger Koreans to mean "awesome". So they are both saying they are really awesome, but they are also saying they are working their butts off. I've noticed in a lot of commentary videos, they often pair Dope and Bapsae together as an example of songs in which they are talking about the struggles of their generation. And the fact that Dope and Bapsae are also the two songs in which they explicitly refer to the "three giving-up generation" and the "five giving-up generation" (in RM's solo) I think that this song while obviously talking about how hard they themselves have worked is also probably a commentary on how hard their generation is having to work. Based on that, I think they are intentionally reflecting various careers to give a nod to all the people who are working really, really hard in their careers while others are out partying. The "we" becomes more collective, then. "Those of us who are working our butts off while everyone else is partying ... we're awesome." So in RM's verse he says (no idea about accuracy of translation, again, not Korean, lol). "Given up on 3? Given up on 5?? I like the number 6. How about giving up on 6?" The older generations in Korea, as well as the Korean media, often refer to millennials as the generation that has given up. It started out as having given up three things, courtship, marriage, and childbirth. Then it advanced to a word that means they'd given up on five things, thereby adding employment and home ownership. Eventually it jumped to seven things when they added that they had given up on relationships and even hope. That's why RM adds in his verse that he'll stop at 6 (after making some weird word play that I don't totally understand that involves beef ...) and then says, "Can I get a little bit of hope?" Basically saying they refuse to give up on everything. Then he calls out the older generations/media for condemning them while they are working so hard and he calls out the millenials for just taking it and tells them to take their energy, they aren't alone, don't give up, take some hope, wake up and go. I've never actually watched an explanation video for Dope, so this is what I've personally pieced together based on explanations I've heard about some of the words/phrases used in the song, so somebody else may know more. But I think people tend to focus on the dancing a lot in this song and disregard the lyrics mostly because there is a lot of meaning lost in translation for this one.

Hi! Yes this video is from 2015 so JK was 17..!! So young🥺 Tae is Detective Conan, Suga may be a pilot and I'm not sure about RM. For better translation there are a few army sites doolset is one of them but I don't have the URL on my phone 😅 The song is about those who diss them and their music, when in fact normal ppl go to work for 8h and then enjoy free time, BTS were studying during the day and practicing at night, for years on end with only a few hours sleep and 1 off day per month. I think this song is a clapback at haters and also the pressures young people face in the wider Korean society. Some lines also address the accusations of them buying their own Albums to inflate sales while in reality that was the result of their hardwork and dedication. 'This is Bangtan Style, nothing like those lying wacks' maybe that's a reference to how shallow the Idol industry is and the lack of genuineness and transparency in the industry. BTS' lyrics always opens discussion on a wider concept and I love that part of them.

To help you out miss ( don't know what to call you yet XD) for being cocky part. well they are and they aren't at the same time haha. this song addresses multiple subjects. - Note very well that in this era BTS isn't even a third of how big they are now. They still received hate and people didn't believe in them as much specially in Korea. some rappers looked down on RM and SUGA for leaving underground rap and going mainstream. And by locked down I mean they received very disturbing hate speech some of it went viral. so this is their respective way to talk back to those people in a "title song" ( in comparison with the Cyphers which are waaaaaay more aggressive). - Second thing talking in behalf of the youth and how older generation looked them on the younger ones. and doesn't matter how hard they work they were always addressed as lazy and not committed youngsters. This was one of BTS's main concepts since their debut "Bangtan". You will understand this way more if you listen to Baepsae and its explanation By DKDKTV. it's so popular for a reason. I know the lyrics are intimidating at first. I asked myself those same questions before. but I understood what it all meant later on. Sorry for the loooooong comment. Cheers

I think you were definitely right about your interpretation! it is kind of them telling their haters that the reason they earned their success, is because unlike ''them'' they worked hard. I guess thats why they feel pride and justified in saying they are dope and being cocky about it lol. The criticizing of haters happens for instance in namjoons verse. I was at practice for MultiCulti: some friends were rehearsing their Dope dance cover and I really liked the song so I went home and looked it up. They had me at, "Welcome. First time with BTS?" The editing needs to be commended for how well they made it look like one shot. Pilot Namjoon? Police officer Jungkook (cue the flashbacks when Run BTS episode 12 came out)? Office worker Jimin (his eye makeup is ALWAYS on point and I can't deal with it but also please never stop; also, it's actually Dimple that's Illegal)? Race car driver Hobi? Sergeant Yoongi? Detective Tae (he is absolutely Detective Conan - Jungkook dressed as him one Halloween, and so did Mark from NCT)? Doctor Jin? "I reject rejection" is an amazing line, but I wholly recommend this video (kzbin.info/www/bejne/fJm6hpSdjqeVqqs) for an explanation of the song's meaning. I will drop part of it here, though, since the subtitles don't do it justice: Sampo (3) Generation = given up courtship, marriage, and having kids due to social pressures and economic struggles Opo (5) Generation = Sampo + employment and home ownership Yookpo (6) Generation - Then, since I like beef jerky, let me be Yookpo Generation (play on words; both are pronounced the same) = Opo + interpersonal relationships Chilpo (7) Generation = Yookpo + hope The message of this part is that whatever else, they're refusing to give up on hope, which is why after the rap he asks, "So can I get a little bit of hope?" People don't seem to know this, but in the studio version and the MV, it's actually Jimin who's singing that very high note "I'm gonna make it fire baby!" JK only appears to Jimin's vocals. However when they're performing "Dope" live on stage, it's JK who's singing Jimin's high part because Jimin wanted him to. Moreover, in the first line of the bridge in the MV and studio version, it’s JK who’s singing ”Ireon ge bangtan seutail” 이런 게 방탄스트, but they show Jimin. They’ve never told us why they switched in the MV, but u can clearly tell by their vocals. So their voices don’t match the video.
