Okay... so even though Jin saved RM from burning the gas station, V from murdering his dad, Suga from burning in the fire and Jungkook from being run over, he caused a MASSIVE BUTTERFLY EFFECT. Since J-hope is the one that saved V, he had to leave Jimin behind in the hospital... which is why Jimin’s condition is continuously getting worse. I think that BTS just gives us those ''easter eggs'' to make everything a little more cinematic and eye-catching, but in the long run it's all about aknowledging the pain of existence. People get hurt every day, 24/7, no matter how much they want to avoid it. People search for ways to end their suffering, their pain and they constantly look for some kind of a relief. Young people are especially vulnerable to all the evil that there is. Teenagers or young adults do not know much about the world and it scares them. They don't know what their place is, what their dream or goal is. They just live through the day, aimlessly. BTS try to bring comfort and peace to those tortured souls. They do it because they've had their own share of shitty accidents and stories. Neither sadness nor pain is something foreign, unknown to them. This is why they are so relatable. This is why ARMYs love them so much. Thank you for coming up with your own theory and I'm glad that you are invested in what BTS try to portray.*

Omg.. I got goosebumps when he said that euphoria is the feeling just before suicide. I had not though about it but it makes sense with the concept.. I remember reading hyyh notes and it is mentioned there that Jungkook was about to commit suicide by jumping from a building. And here euphoria is sung by Jungkook and he is in the top of the building..Maybe euphoria is the feeling Jungkook felt when he was in the verge of commiting suicide. Also love yourself: wonder is basically the time before love yourself: Her.. That means "Her" is the consequence of whatever they had done during "Wonder"... I think Jin tried to go back in time and change things to make everyone happy that will be shown in this series.. However he probably failed resulting into breaking of their friendship and each of them going separate way like it was shown in Love yourself highlight reels. I think I am beginning to understand the theory.

i don't think they were trying to decode the whole story, just euphoria. i think their theory actually makes a lot of sense, especially in the context of the rest of the storyline edit: oh and something else interesting that could support their theory: in the song, there's the sound of a gun being cocked immediately followed by bright and upbeat music, like the death that followed the shot from the gun is euphoric. and in the video, they're very particular about which sounds they put in (seokjin opening curtains, fire crackling, etc.) and they decided to have the doors that jimin opens, the ones that lead to whiteness, sound sort of like a gun as well. like the gun caused them to white out. idk, just some things i noticed

One of the old theories that still works with this video: Jin is centric. In the I Need U era, the boys are all aspects of Jin/youth. With Jin being the oldest, he would become adult first. But to become a well adjusted adult, you first have to not forget, but to accept the bad things, the hard things, that you have done, or had been done to you. Once you accept that these things have happened, you can move forward. In this MV, the troubles are in the past (Jin has accepted the past and moved on), except for the aspect of Jimin, who in the INU era was hospitalized with a mental condition. In this MV, Jimin was left alone in the hospital, so he has not "gotten over" his mental problems, it seems that it will follow him into his adulthood. That is not something that you can accept and move on. You will deal with it all your life. The last scene : V watching Jin (who is on the tower) very seriously. V's aspect in INU era killed his abusive father, then jumped off the tower.. So that aspect would be the hardest to accept. I think Jin threw the camera into the water, instead of himself jumping. This could mean that he was getting rid of all the past problems totally, or maybe the water would help cleanse the troubles away. I always liked this theory, because it was simple, but explained everything. Sorry to write so much, but I TRIED to keep it to the minimum. lol

There's a mention of suicidal thoughts in the hyyh notes. Jungkook was mentioned to have such thoughts while standing on top of a construction site. In this too he's seen standing near the edge. But to know more about the storyline, it's important to watch the prologue. The general story line or plot is a bit more complicated. But you might be right about the suicide theory.

WHOA OK so this is crazy but your theories connecting to the ocean made me remember the lyrics in Sea--I think it was Namjoon's part, but he mentions how the ocean is vast and beautiful and full, but it can also be a desert? It's like the outlook on something can either be beautiful and full or hopeless and empty... So I think your theories on the song are actually really accurate (which is also nice because I don't see many people theorizing about the song itself yet) because with the way they tied the ocean into the lyrics of euphoria on top of the theory that it might be about suicide might also be tying in the fact that they see a desert but in the moment of euphoria it becomes a beautiful ocEAN? I don't know how to feel, but after hearing people thoughts about all the BTS storyline, it makes me feel like BTS is slowly trying to tell us that it's okay if you're hurt and you need to acknowledge it, but knowing all the shitty things happen is making me hurt even more and it's comforting at the same time. I was crying so hard when I saw the whole video, where it brings back to the hyyh era and the LY highlight reels, where Jin say about how if we turn back time, will everything be fine in the end? and it seems like it did, right? but in the end of this video, someone ask, what else did Jin (hyung) is hiding from all of us.

Really interesting interpretation. I liked the idea of looking at the videos simply compared to complicated stories and little clues. I think BTS themselves care more about the songs and lyrics. They’ve said themselves, they don’t even know half the stuff the company does in the videos.the videos are only part of what BTS are. It makes sense in terms of their whole campaign too. I think Bangtan wants to influence the lives of the people that listen to their music. RM has said that multiple times and Yoongi has said that he wants to create a space where people ask for help& feel save enough to talk about their pains. And they usually don't portray only happy or only sad emotions but more complex emotions and states of mind. I think your theories both make sense to an extend, but I am very sure we can not understand fully where they are going with this because they tend to catch anyone off guard with the next release. So far the theme of growing up, dealing with temptation and pain in various ways have beem most consistent. The thing about #Euphoria beeing a non sustainable sometimes even issulionary state of happiness reminds me of Love Yourself HER where the lyrics of DNA for example seemed to speak more of an onesided infuriation then an actual mutual relationship.

My theory is that, their messages revolve around friendship and the pain of transitioning from adolescence to adulthood (the troubles of younger generation). They are stressing the importance of "being together and you never walk alone" when being through rough times in life. Not only in this video, a lot of their songs actually portray these messages. For the LY series, the bigger picture is tied back to the highlight reels; "If they can turn back time, can they undo all the mishaps that already happened?", "Can they go back to their happy times when they still have each other's back?". Because when things went wrong, they started to deviate from each other, and this led to damage in their friendship (from HYYH). But in real life it is impossible to go back and change the past. Even if they were able to, it goes against the law of nature and it might harm the future (nothing really change for better). I think BTS is basically telling us to love ourselves by accepting our weaknesses and past mistakes. Also to remember that we are not alone and can always rely on someone (friends, family) when going through hardship in life ^^ This is just my opinion! Sorry for the long comment BTW...

I think butterfly is about jin talking to his six friends or at least thinking about them,lyrics go:I'm afraid,I don't want to lose you...since jin is trying to save his friends in the storyline and is desperate and willing to go back in time as many times as possible to keep them all alive and fix their lives,the song portrays his feelings since every time he goes back in time and saves one or two of them something else happens to another one and it just ends in a disaster,and then euphoria,i think happens after they all find out about jin's ability and they just get to the conclusion that they can't change destiny so they'll just happily go together...at least this is what i think up to euphoria

Quite a bit of the footage in here matches the HYYH Notes that were in the physical albums of LY:Her. They go into more detail about why some of the members are doing what they are doing in this video, in previous M/Vs, as well as pre-comeback videos (like Awake, Lie, First Love, etc.), and of course the Love Yourself videos from last year. I totally agree with Danny's interpretation. This is an unpopular opinion, but I don not agree with time travel stories. I always thought Jin is the narrator and everyone else are parts of his character or his thoughts and reflections on his past or on the society. And I like the idea of a non-literal interpretation of these videos and lyrics.

my theory - jin is either time warping- or there's two dimensions (one good and one bad) the camera is the object he uses to control it, so he rewinds the camera reel to rewind time. he's trying to rewind it because he wants his friends to be okay- to stop suga from committing suicide and tae stabbing his dad etc. although in some of the mvs and short films, it shows there being two of each person, eg- in spring day when jk sees himself on the train, when jimin sees himself in another room etc but to me that would show parallel universes. And the jin that's with them in some of the videos is the jin from the other universe trying to save them (nothing makes sense rn my mind is so fucked) . also there's this theory that when someone looks into the camera (jins camera) that they've become self aware of jin altering reality due to time warps/ deminsion jumping, eg like tae in that last frame or jungkook when he gets run over. (that would explain the "hyung is there anything else you haven't told us" because jk is aware of what jin is doing.) i feel like they're all slowly realising what jin is doing. also over the last few days bighit has been adding in glitches to their mvs- it could show that when jin warps time the things in the mvs do the same thing. another thing, the huge montain of clothes the members sit on in spring day is believed to be the amount of times jin has tried to change the future. different thing - plus in that hospital jimin is shown alone or with the other members. i think it's showing that in his mind while he's in the mental hospital he imagines his friends are there with him, celebrating his birthday. in the run mv and the spring day it always shows them having a jimin birthday celebration - but that's all in jimin's head. also, the jumper jimin is wearing is actually the exact same jumper in hobi's daydream video. that could mean whatever jimin thinks of is a dream.

Thumbs up on the sincere thoughts and I believe BTS is really trying to spread the awareness of mental illnesses/suicide, thus giving birth to the series of Love Yourself. They both go hand in hand, acknowledging the fact that mental illness and suicide are a thing that's happening to many in Korea or globally and conveying the message to love oneself and be more forgiving to one another.

Glad to see this reaction. I tend to believe the theory that Jin did something from the past, maybe hit Junkook with a car but something was set into motion resulting in the suffering of all the other members. Jin at the end, was taking Taehyungs role, maybe death to try to prevent that suffering from happening and save him. There is a narration in one of the minimovies or love yourself prologue or something where jin as the narrator talks about going back and changing your past mistakes. There is no way to know all the details until bighit comes out with an explaination but honestly this is so interesting and I am high key mindfucked by this today. Big Hit at it again.

A THEORY I FOUND ON ANOTHER KZbin VIDEO - This literally makes the most sense. Not my theory but I wanted to share. "Jin wanted to fix everything, so he changed the timeline where Hoseok stopped Tae from murdering his father, but that means Jimin is left alone at the facility (which i think will definitely have consequences), this explains in Mama when Hoseok was discharged, and in Lie - the empty hospital bed. Also, Jin changed where Jungkook got hit by the car to where he instead went to save Yoongi from the fire, and Jin saved Namjoon from blowing up the gas station. And Jin smiling at the end is most likely him believing he fixed everything and it’s gonna be okay, but i definitely feel like this will have worse consequences than the original story. i highly believe Jin messing with the timeline is going to cause the story to take a dark turn in future MVs"

Jungkook is the only one singing in the song lol it’s the intro song to the new album Love Yourself: Wonder. Just like Jimin did Serendipity for the intro song for Love Yourself: Her album. I don’t think it’s about suicide at all but that’s an interesting interpretation.

I love getting your perspectives! I feel like, because they have such a large fanbase in and out of Korea, they put a lot of thought into how they can craft something that everyone can appreciate. I think you are definitely on to something about the themes of death/suicide and depression and the larger social issues connected with that in Korea. Of course they want to make some kind of difference there because it is their own culture and probably issues that have impacted their own lives in some way. Then the individual story arcs and details in all the videos create more of a playground for everyone who enjoys the theories and character development. In short films every shot counts, nothing is random. So yes the details matter and we can't ignore them. That being said, sometimes it's good to take a step back and get a look at the big picture and what the main message is. There are feelings and undercurrents in every culture that people outside of it can't immediately be tapped in to, so I really appreciate you guys breaking it down from the perspective of people actually living in Korea. according to DreamTeller: Jin: Principal character, the boy making the transition to adulthood. *emotions/characteristics/develoment of youth* JM: Grief, JH: Pain, JK: Wandering/Aimlessness, Suga: Passion, RM: Drive to Succeed/Survive, V: Rebellion/Trying to cling on to youth while already have one foot in the adult world. All of them are wearing white because IMO they have already made peace with the fact that they need to grow up and let go of the innocence/carefree life of youth. A symbolic death if you will. However, each still cary with them the consequence of their character: e.g. V's bandaged hand, JM (the embodiment of grief) being the last one to be free, and JK finally stopped being aimless to meet up with the others. Then Jin jumped or took the leap of faith into adulthood, knowing and happily accepting the need to do so. - on other things- Its always RM (embodiment of drive and focus needed to be an adult) to hold out a hand to V (rebellion) because its only through our determination to succeed, to make something of ourselves, that we shed our youthful arrogance or our general inability to think through our actions- the same thing that can get us into trouble. -For aimlessness to find direction, he must have something he is passionate about. -For pain to be gone one must let himself grieve. for grief to transition to acceptance, one must acknowledge the pain and not take/do something to dull the feeling. -Ofcourse, Jin leaping towards adulthood would mean he'll be entering a new set of problems that are more heartbreaking but in the end, hopefully, a rewarding journey.
