no, they are not just "some boyband" they write,compose,and produce their own songs, and their lyrics are none others, they talk abt social issue such as mentall illness, bullying, the government system, so yess they are not just some boyband, and also they clearly not 'kpop' it's too shallow to compile them with those cringy kpop artist out there who aren't even wrote their own songs to begin with, unlije BTS. Time magz named them The Princes of Pop n made them one of the influential people in the world for a reason, and that are their musical ability in write,compose, and produce high quality music, and ofc bcoz of their sincerity n genuineness towards each other n ofc to others as well. i, myself only liker western music such as U2, Coldplay, Linkin Park, n got blown away when i knew there's a band in south korea that has the same quality of music as those western artists, not to mention BTS has all of the music genre under their belts...but i refuse to be labelled as "a kpop fan", coz i still despise "kpop" as i said before, they are shallow n not even write their own shit, n their song is always abt party,love,with predictable shallow lyrics, so...yess to me (and to some army) BTS is not kpop, they are a korean artist,periodt.

To be objective, there are quite a few idols who write who were able to break out writing/some producing their own music, but are still not as free as BTS is able to be with "hitman"Bang"/CEO/composer/producer..One of RM's best friends, Jackson/Got7 just did an interview re: new solo hit + new all originals album & you can see the passion he has for it & he mentioned RM, too (one of his best friends he admires/loves to death)..just sayin'

LOL. Love your reaction. This performance is so amazing. Got to see it live at Soldier Field last month and it was amazing!!! Actually, technically, there are videos of them performing Mic Drop where Yoongi does not drop the mic. He had a little issue with one or two mics breaking and there are actually a couple of performances where he either doesn't drop at all or jokingly gently puts it on the ground.... LOL. Goofy guys..... Also at the performance they did this last New Years, he unfurled a scroll that read "Happy New Year" to ARMY instead of dropping a mic.... Glad ya'll watched this version of the performance though cause it does show the mic drop, one of my favorite parts.... the production view (from the award show) zoomed out at that point and ya can't even see him. Sigh... oh well, still have this version. THANKS!!!

They really give their all even at concerts which are like over 3 hours long of constant performing on stage you can’t tell they are tired but as soon as they get off they often need help walking and the staff helps them also they get muscle pin a lot so they get help for that and to top it all off they need respirators to help them breathe after performing they go hard and are truly professionals I have never ever seen artist work this hard and are so humble it’s insaine.

Back story, Yoongi(Suga) was inspired by Barack Obama and his final Correspondents Dinner Speech, when he went “peace out” and dropped the mic. Yoongi wrote the song because so many people and groups were dissing them, saying they cheated their way to the to;...they were blamed for plagiarism etc. A great video to watch is Nobodies to Somebodies 2. Our boys were extremely exhausted during and after their performances they did that day to the point where they almost collapsed while heading backstage and couldn’t barely walk back up to the stage when accepting their Artist of the Year Award.... They sing, rap, dance during all their live performances and of course they’re 100% genuine. Since the songs themselves aren’t very long they expand majority of their live performances with dance breaks with back up dancers/kpop trainees (masked figures) or talk sessions to interaction with their fans!

Yes I came back to watch the video again. BTS puts the hours in every day and every night. They practice and practice before anything. You also need to remember that they trained for a couple of years before they had their debut also. They are absolutely Perfect in everything they do! ALL OF THEM! I LOVE BTS!!! think of the leader (of kpop groups) as being like a team captain in sports. It's a much closer comparison as there will be lead vocalists, lead dancers, main vocalists, main rappers, etc., and the balance of all those elements is one of the hallmarks of kpop. But the leader is the spokesperson, the liaison with management, and in the case of BTS, has a lot to do with the creation of the songs, as well as perhaps other 'duties' like being a role model for the group in some ways.

Fun fact: in 0:59 Suga purposely stopped rapping his verse just to show the haters that they are singing live. In Kpop it is NORMAL to lipsync because some broadcast shows REQUIRES it even if idols want to sing live. But so many haters claim BTS can't sing live that's why time and time again they prove the accusations wrong in the best possible way: showing great performances and results, it makes the haters look stupid
