going from being a k-pop Stan to only BTS Stan pipeline is so true. I discovered kpop through BTS in 2016, but eventually I got out of k-pop but BTS stayed. I will still listen to songs that I find good without even knowing who sang them, because consistency is very rare in k-pop, which makes it boring for me to stan them cuz one song hits then the following disappoints. BTS the only one that delivers everytime be it lyrics, melody, dance, concept. It's refreshing

Even when I find a group with a buuuunch of good songs with fantastic personalities, I find out they’re lacking in stage presence/live performances (being able to maintain sincerity, fan connection [not only fan service], stamina, voice, and passionate dancing simultaneously…). Or I like the lyrics/song but don’t like the voices, or vice versa. Thanks, bts. You’re legends 😅

fr. I used to "stan" a bunch of groups when I decided to dive deep into kpop in 2016 but through the years I just lost interest ad realized how similar many of this groups and songs are. Everything is a concept. If a song is doing well yoi will find hundreds of similar songs the next couple of months and may of them lack not only originality but personality. I always find BTS really special and unique and that's why they have been always on top.. They really are my favorite artists. Right now I also listen to some kpop songs here and there but not often except for maybe txt and IU but I don't know every single of their content and stuff and I don't vote or stream like a stan of theem that's why I wouldn't call myself part of their fandoms but yeah... BTS really hits different. 💜

7:30 The fact that the vocal line members have extremely unique voices and on top of that the fans can track their progress over the years, like you can build a timeline with how they got better and better at singing, at breathing during singing, during their live performances and you can see them working their asses off, I think that's why they're considered the best. Also, if I start about the rapline, this comment would be too damn long, and I think most of the comments section has already pointed things out, so lemme say, no one can come to par with our BTS rapline. No one. They're on a league of their own.

BTS are beyond K-Pop. They are so different from K-Pop. From writing their own music, having complete artistic freedom over their craft, deep lyrics about societal issues, and mental health. They are not just pretty faces who rap, sing, and dance. They are rappers, singers, and dancers. The members of the group are artists, not "idols".

It doesnt mean that others are undeserving of praise, or they're not talented or lack something. These are hard working talented people who deserves their flowers and they're getting it. BTS being the best also doesnt mean they're better than any other kpop group either, they're just in different leagues and that is OKAY.

Recently i saw a conversation about how most group that debuted around 2016-2019 were formed to overthrow BTS. Trying to combine so many all rounders, too many talents together that it crashes. Bts lets everyone shine individually and every member to have room for growth that can be tracked.Bts have individualism that makes them unique and most of the time relatable when you see a member work through and master their craft. The BTS members say they are 7 and they need each member in the team but some other groups a member will take months of hiatus and you as a fan might not realize because they are easily replaceable because they have no roots/ individualism in the team. (Esp SM groups 😂)BTS are in their class of their own and there isn't another group taking over.
@ajlee21689 ай бұрын
very true! its so weird to me when kpop groups lose a member, or even multiple, that either gets replaced or the group will continue on without them, and after a short time people forget, everyone just moves on. i cant imagine a bts member leaving the group and bts just moving on without him, or replacing him with someone else. for other groups it feels like their coworker just got swapped out and it wont really change anything; but for bts itd be like a family letting a stranger into their home, changing the whole dynamic of the household, it would always feel wrong. 90% of idols are replaceable, but no one can replace bts or any of their members.

I'd say that heavily depends on the group. @@Kalakeiko im not disagreeing with that, but it wouldn't change what i was talking about. if those groups lost a member, they'd still move on without them or replace them, thats what irks me and what i cant get behind, especially when the group aren't rookies anymore. im sure for most groups its inevitable to grow somewhat close, but at the end of the day its business and they're coworkers who can be fired or replaced.
@Kalakeiko8 ай бұрын
@ajlee2168 The thing is that there isn't much they can do about that, unfortunately. They're under a contract and even if they don't want to continue without the missing member, which is almost always the case and you can definitely tell how much losing a member affects the group and the fans and their absence will be noticeable. They're still going to be friends and like family outside of the group and the missing member will likely continue as a soloist, but losing a member is not something that the group decides or something that can be predicted. If it were up the groups, they would all continue with all of the members for a long time, but that's not possible for every group, sadly. That, and it's extremely risky to have all of the members leave and not knowing if anyone will pick them up as a group again or if they're going to be separated again or potentially not being accepted at all for that matter.

8:01 idk if i can call it a "problem" per se, but it gets kinda boring and it feels a bit deceptive to me as an audience. These kids work so hard and spend a large part of their youth training to be a star. Wouldn't you want to be someone who expresses yoursef? Your ideas, opinions, thoughts, taste etc. If everything is done for you, it feels like there is no need for you to be there. You are repaceable, interchangeable, forgettable. Just having good skills isn't enough. Where is your artistry? what do you stand for? what do you represent as an artist? what do you have that is lacking in an industry full of beautiful and talented people? 10 years or 20 years from now when these kids look back on their careers, don't they want to feel like they've accomplished something beyond releasing music and performing on stage? Don't they want some kind of impact? don't they want to be proud they did someting worthwhile in their youth? I don't get any of this from most kpop. Idk, maybe idols already feel all this, maybe they think they're already doing all this, and kpop fans think the same. But I can tell it's not. Not when we have great legends from all over the world who pioneered and contributed to music and culture, not when we have bts. It is not enough. That's the problem. That we have settled for mediocrity and "vibes" and tik tok virality instead of real music, stories, emotions and culture. A lot of times it feels like these kids only want to be idols to be popular and have fun, and attend fashion shows. They don't really know or love music. They say things like "my dream is to perform" or "i want to be the best" and while that ambition is admirable, they never really live up to it, they don't differentiate themselves and continue to be basic. I don't see desire to make art that connects, transcends. Very few groups do that. Amongst them, bts is the best. They have continually reflected, grown and evolved from their debut. You hear their conviction and see the proof of their ambition in everything they do. The difference is so stark . You're right, not everybody has to be the best. But we expect it. We want it. They want it too or else they wouldn't practice for umpteen hours a day and do all kinds of promo and aim for internatonal fame. That's the issue. I hope I've made myself clear, at least a bit.

@@Joymoyez kpop often sounds like parodies to me. you're absolutely right, they hop from one trend to another, making them feel inauthentic/ unserious. i cant help but think of kpop as kidz bop. if i listen to a song, theres a high chance it'll sound familiar, it will remind me of an older more popular song and then i cant unhear it. slightly different but too close to the 'inspiration', making the song instantly boring to me. like kidz bop. censored watered down versions of songs that worked before. ive also been a huge hip hop fan for most of my life and at times im almost offended hearing the average empty kpop-rap, and seeing fans go crazy for it. my heart hurts so much :D it kinda gives you a reality check, seeing how low the standards are makes me think those fans never appreciated music for what it is, but rather for the name attached to it, or for the outfits they wear while performing. groups could record a vacuum cleaner and put a beat over it, stans will find a way to praise it for being experimental. and at the same time they'll probably show up for a bts release and complain about 'too much autotune' :'D bts' rap line is literally how i found and got interested in them. not every group needs a rapper, and i wish companies would stop treating rap as a filler position for idols who cant sing. if your group isnt hiphop based, dont add unnecessary raps. and if its hiphop based, please learn from bts, get people who actually care about the art of it and understand what makes it good. i cant tolerate the disrespect towards rap anymore lol.

@@Joymoyez very true, as fun as kpop looks, i need to enjoy the music to stay interested, and kpop doesn't prioritize music quality. its like the example of superm; they have an interesting concept but what matters is the actual music. songs about jopping won't stick with the general public, or stand out enough to make you curious. since 2015 every comeback or debut of a group just reassured me that bts is their own category and cant be compared. bora worded this nicely as well, bts being different from the average group/ dont work in the typical kpop system, is what made them so good. since kpop changes sounds so drastically, groups dont build an identity. i cant call myself a fan of any of them, i just like few individual songs. some groups sound like they're constantly re-debuting, they can't hold onto a sound that defines them. for the last ~5yrs, i just look at kpop as a fun distraction, its very hard to really care or take it serious. bts was special when i found them, and after diving into kpop, i just appreciate bts more. there are exceptions of groups that seem promising to me, gidle catches my attention every now and then, but its not yet enough for me to call myself a fan. i see kpop stans "defending" underwhelming music because kpop was never focused on raw talent and music, its just entertainment. i wonder if those fans just dont care, or if they dont realize that consumers hold the power over the industry and can change it. if they'd demand more, the industry would shift their focus. but they're happy with mediocrity, as long as it looks nice, so the industry has no reason to change focus, essentially stopping itself from improving. as fascinating as kpop can be, i dont see it getting bigger if it won't change it's priorities. maybe it's destined to stay a niche interest haha.

In terms of their uniqueness and authenticity I’d say txt comes second which isn’t that weird imo since they’re from the same company. The passion is obvious to those who appreciate music, not only the visual aspects.
