Suga started that idea by giving the bags of candy with a hand written note at their fan meets, if you recall.

I would call ARMY a community not a fandom. They fundraise, perform outreach and charitable activities. They respect the seven artists in the band - they support their interests and the issues they advocate. The ARMY community uplift each other. At things like Lollapalooza the event staff noted how ARMY tidied up after themselves, were respectful of staff and encouraging of other artisis while they waited for J Hope. BTS are socially conscious and inspire that in their supporters. Not by telling them to do it - they lead by example.

This other group isn’t unknown at all but when I tell you I was so shocked by how unorganized it was to join the fandom. This is absolutely no hate to them because everyone I spoke to was very kind and helpful but I was shocked by the lack of streaming accounts and translations. It made me realize how instant Army usually are and kind of how spoiled we have become. Even month old lived don’t have translations yet and I have yet to find a good account 😭

Another interesting thing that I have learned is that for a long time and for some fandoms the international fans didn’t always get along with the Korean fans. However with BTS and ARMY that isn’t the same. Korean fans label the international fans as I-Lovelies and the international fans call the Korean fans as K-Diamonds…this probably changed for the different K-pop generations but I thought this is an interesting thing to add…
@stayville-connections Жыл бұрын
from my experience as a multistan, it really depends. but bts army is the most consistently organized and united globally. for example, i-stays and k-stays have this kind of petty siblings vibes with their arguments, but can usually get along well, while k-atiny are hated by the rest of the fandom for never actively supporting ateez. it really is a fandom thing and one of armys biggest strongsuits imo! ^-^

I challenged a toxic person pretending to be a BTS fan. When I challenged them saying no real ARMY would behave like them. Go to any BTS concert you will meet the nicest people. They broke and admitted they hated BTS. I have begun to think those people giving ARMY a bad name are not even ARMY. ARMY will protect BTS but they will not attack for no reason. They are not toxic. There are a tiny minority of people behaving badly but can you call them fans if they do not listen to the message BTS gives.

It’s like we are all thinking that if we where off the clock and saw our boss, nobody likes that, not that we are their boss but it’s an expectations thing. Expectation being put on someone is hard for them which is why we sorta want to keep it to a minimum so they feel comfortable.😂😂

Bora made a very good point. People try to paint ARMY in a particular light based on a loud minority who are so loud that they are seen as the majority. However if the true majority of ARMY were as toxic as the few, it would be pur pandemonium in the fandom spaces online. It would be unimaginably worse. Most ARMY aren't even online like that in the first place. Most are adults living their lives and taking care of their responsibilities, not engaging in fanwars with bots and trolls. There are millions of us. The internet is far too tolerable for the majority of ARMY to truly be the ones acting up.

I found kpop in 2010. I had never seen fandoms like the ones that kpop has! I joined some and when BTS debuted I became Army. In 2015 BTS was becoming popular around the world (more than most other groups) a few of the other fandoms concentrated their hate/jealousy?? on BTS and Army. The hate towards BTS was unreal, and the fanwars were terrible. By 2016 I had dropped out of all other fandoms except Army. We sorta isolated ourselves from other fandoms. I still listen to other kpop music, but I don't get involved with the other fandoms.

The last fandom I was seriously in before was for the 1990's alternative rock band, Dishwalla. A lot of my activity was posting on the Dishwalla website forums. And also attended one concert. But for me that did not quite end well & I also lost some interest in the fandom, as well as lost some interest in the band, all that by the mid/late 2000's, because their main vocalist quit, who really was considered by many as the embodiment & "sound" of the band. Actually, probably at least one fourth or one fifth of the fandom also left because of that. Heck, maybe even half the fanbase left. That was like 2 decades ago. Dishwalla is still around, but they are not as huge as they once were around the Y2k era. I was also into alt.rock Matchbox Twenty & Googoo Dolls etc, but I was never an active part of their fanbases, I only listened to their songs at home. While I have never been to a BTS concert (yet?), I am active in the fanbase, though it's mostly just commenting on KZbin, lmao. But what I am doing now as an ARMY is like hundreds times more than what I was doing in the Dishwalla fanbase those 2 decades ago, because interest in the BTS band is still going strong & the sense of community & positivity I sense with other BTS fans, even though it's only through words & sentences on the computer screen. And there was no KZbin yet either, 2 decades ago, heh.

My first experience is with BTS ARMY. I love music and have always loved music, but this has been insane and I have never communicated with people on different platforms like this just because we were interested in the same thing. I didn't know groups of fans had names and even if I heard one in the past I didnt register it as real to be honest, thought it was just fan made and kind of crazy, just being real. But when something moves you, you move for that something. Thats all I know now. I will say that even though fandoms come as a group of people like you said are "like-minded" we still have to remember not to generalize the entire fandom. There are good people and there are bad people and ANYONE can rock up and put a name tag on and claim they are part of a fandom and something wild on the internet...like ANYONE. I choose to look at humans as individuals and sometimes we have a lot in common, especially when we like the same band, the same music, the values in which that band partakes in, things of that nature. We vibe with those ppl, work with them, uplift them and enjoy things together in a community. But if you just like the music and are a horrible person on the side, then you just a fan boo boo, like I am TIRED of people saying "all them" are this and "all of them" are that, because who you talking to. People see one or two comments from the same fandom and automatically think thats how we all roll and I cant stand that type of generalization. People can also love music and not be on the internet like that, quietly listening, quietly voting and watching their fave artists succeed while consuming their content. And thats EVERY fandom. I see it a lot with mine but thats because I mind my own business and stay on the my side of twt and YT. But I am sure that there are ppl quietly wondering why ppl are always fighting or got something negative to say all the time. Thats why it feels like sometimes you are only receiving negative comments, because ppl who are sane are busy living life and ppl who are miserable are too busy being loud and mean on the internet. Starts to give a bad reputation to certain fandoms and tarnishes the name and I think thats sad. Some people don't want peace but problems. Wow am I ranty today. Needed to say it but you basically covered most of these points. Thankfully I follow a group who sees their fandom for what they are, individuals, they know our hearts, the reals ones, the ones here for their music and the ones that share the message that they have been spreading for years. They know us even if we are on the quieter side, they see through the negativity and how we are portrayed by mainstream media because they dont trust those publications any more than we do. This brings me peace. This is long sorry about that, I guess I just needed to say it somewhere.

It would've been interactions via tumblr and fan fictions. It was fun talking about things I enjoy with people online especially since people I know in real life don't really share my same interests. As I got more and more into more things, I got more into some fandoms. One being Supernatural. Tbh that's where I learned that fandoms can be very great and helpful and nice and communal, but I also learned that there could also be toxicity. Then comes army hahaha. Now, I've been part of anime, Star Trek, Marvel, Harry Potter, Lord of the Rings, and etc etc fandoms, but Army has gotta be the biggest, most organized, and most determined hahaha. And I've met some of the greatest people via army and we've had so much fun enjoying BTS together. I watched it and was immediately confused as to why people actually thought these boys were dating based of the things that were shown in the video. Ig bc I was an adult when I saw the video so I wasn’t easily swayed but after seeing the comment section I immediately hated them and never watched a shipping video like that ever again.

I saw those too. I found them gross and glad I never fell into that toxic narrative

So. No one’s going to talk about what a Fricking mess Army is since hiatus?! Pretending there aren’t problems isn’t going to make them go away! And I don’t want to hear that fans who became ‘solos’ are not true Army because that’s a cop-out! EVERYONE was Army until the solo careers began and it became evident that both the company and ‘Army’ (supposed OT7) are showing favouritism to certain members (one in particular)! So to pretend Army is still what it was before the hiatus is disingenuous and everyone knows it…including other fandoms. If you say Army is not highly divided right now, then you’re just lying- sweeping it under the rug is NOT going to make the problems go away! There HAS been unfair treatment and sabotage of solo careers and the receipts are ALL there for all to see!

Kpoppies has been exposed to have group chat to act like akgae or solo and token stan one member to create division within fandom btw , And abt company treatment I would like you to understand that BTS members themselves choose individual promotion and I WOULD LIKE YOU TO WATCH BORACITY MAGAZINE VIDEO ABOUT BTS VS INDUSTRY, industry Don't want a non English act on top , and even if they did it have to be a English songs and actually BTS has been SABOTAGE so much that a little better seems like privileged

@@blossom6693 I’m DOUBLING DOWN on what I said! And by the way, your comment was one big mess of a run-on sentence - not a pleasant read! And we ALL are aware about the xenophobia in the U.S., the sabotage and what BB did to BTS to try and keep them down - I’ve watched the video by Boracity too. And they’ve done the same thing to our member with the historic 1st BB win, coupled with a blatant lack of support by BH, the fandom who call themselves OT7 and nasty, vile groups within Army (especially Tkkrs - shippers)! So I repeat: I’M talking about the toxicity that exists within Army - the favouritism by fans who call themselves OT7, the vile bullying of other fans and their biases, the company favouritism….and on and on - Army IS a mess. And as far as the members’ solo debuts, NO they did not each have full control over their promos! JM made that very clear during a Live and in an interview that he didn’t get everything he asked for and his promo was too short! Meanwhile other members had so much more! You can pretend everything is fine within Army and the members were treated fairly and equally but that doesn’t change the fact that AT LEAST one was not.

@@ArmantoAlex13 I WILL LIKE TO BELIEVE BTS MORE Than ASSUMPTION When JIMIN get exact treatment as life goes on bcz it was a Korean songs that topped billboard chart, no other members topped the chart with a Korean songs, it have to face every possible bad things bcz they don't want a non English language song to be at top.

I'm so over these types of videos especially by these clearly biased channels. Like let's stop giving all the credit to one certain group and Fandom when that's not the case at all. What about the actress from the seven mv? The things she's getting called is crazy. Plus misinformation is spread like crazy with these types of video. Also, let's stop saying army isn't an kpop fandom it literally is. Why not do videos on other groups?

Why, is this video giving false information?
@katherinecordero472 Жыл бұрын
They're an army so of course she's gonna make videos about BTS, plus other fandoms in KPOP haven't done anything good. Most things are led by ARMY and copied by other fandoms or never picked up by other fandoms. For example, donations and charities are not something other fandoms do. She didn't lie in her video, you're just mad people are not spreading the "ARMYs are toxic" narrative you K-pop fans are obsessed with. ARMYs are the biggest fandom in the world, so obviously there are toxic fans but it has never been the majority. Y'all provoke ARMY and then play the victims on Twitter when ARMYs return the energy towards your favs. If ARMY were like other fandoms y'all would actually hate us. ARMYs are not the ones doing projects to sabotage comebacks, projects to report the member's Instagram account, we don't do hate campaigns, we don't vote for other artists for the sake of making another group lose, we don't camp under other group's posts, we don't go around trending hateful hashtags, we don't call other idols ped0files, rap1sts, etc. or make unprovoked hate tweets about other idols. No matter how much y'all hate ARMYs or BTS, it won't erase the fact that no other group/fandom gets as much hate as us, and yet we really don't give y'all the same energy. Also, as for the actress of the SEVEN MV, it's sad she's getting hate from shippers and weird ARMYs, but also go check when a lot of those accounts were made. Some of those accounts are literally brand new accounts cosplaying as ARMYs.

I'm not reading all that. I said what I said and my point was proven by your comment especially how you claimed other Fandoms don't do any good and copy armies. Don't wanna accept yall start sht a lot just play victim. Literally saw armies putting down stays and other fans for praising their favs
