JK did that run, JK is the ad lib man here. The other guys have dabbled in doing that, but Jk is the expert ad libber. So proud of him. JHope is so good a vocalist, he just lacks confidence in himself as this is new to him. He emotes so beautifully. He’s my bias, she says with pride….💜

They are The Very First to be allowed to film a Music Video in the UN. I've been there. The place is usually humming with people. But they shut down that main room for them! However, the beginning was probably filmed at night. I was a tourist there a long time ago. They do allow tourists to observe and walk through the balcony. You do feel the presence of all the countries represented there. The history. The grandeur! But they were there during the pandemic. Very few people there. One of the backup dancers shared on video what is was like to be chosen. No one did a physical in person audition. They cast dancers who knew somebody. Had connections. They already knew they could dance and perform well with BTS. But she said the security clearance they had to go through was intense. You had to have a spotless background! Because they had to be cleared for a top security clearance...a world security clearance. Because people all over the world were there. And they all had to be tested for covid. No sickness. They were tested again the day of the filming. Many didn't clear the International Security clearance. And some tested positive for covid. And even if you had a cold you weren't allowed in. She said she felt so lucky she made it all the way through to final cut!

no i think it was during the day because a backup dancer was sitting outside waiting and he explained it in a yt video he was an army so it was a big deal for him. after the first room was recorded they came out and jimin greeted the dancer and then after that they moved outside and did that part. but it could be early in the morning. it was filmed right before the live speech. and i believe you se daylight in the behind the scene video from it.

It was done in two sessions I think. I remember a bangtan bomb of them being there as soon as they got off the plane and then they had to film the one outdoors during daytime. It was long day for them.

In the introduction to BTS videos they specify that J-Hope is a rapper and sub vocalist. Jungkook is the main vocalist (not Jin) and Jungkook is a sub rapper (in some of their earlier songs like Danger and their debut song, No More Dream). Jimin and Jungkook do most of the ad libs and backgrounds. BTS has two songs that have no rapping...all of the members sing instead and those two songs are Dynamite and Permission to Dance.

If I remember rightly they flew in and had to do this recording very early in the morning. Then they had to speak to the assembly. Don’t worry about being distracted by Jimin. It’s called the Jimin Effect and few can avoid it. The behind the scenes of this is interesting and one of their support dancers did a video explaining how he got the job. Some of the runs were Jimin but I think that run you were taken with was JK.

Jungkook is the king of ad libs since he is the one that does most of it in BTS. Most likely it’s Jungkook singing when you are hearing the adlibs in BTS songs. He probably adlib more than songs you find in western countries. It’s believed he has perfect pitch since he rarely sings out of tune. You should react to a fanmade video called Jungkook doesn’t know auto tune. It shows him singing in outside concert performance situations like in his room singing for fan requests or backstage singing without any music playing, etc…

THEY DO NOT USE AUTO TUNE UNLESS IT IS INTENTIONAL! Please stop saying it on every reaction you do. They use very little auto tune if any at all. That is their voices and yes they are that good. Korean performers work so much harder than other countries to perfect their singing and dancing. For some reason you are just not able to believe they are that good of singers. Also, all three rappers did solo projects and they can all sing very well too.

The reason BTS was singing at the UN ... is a long story! In 2017, BTS and Big Hit Entertainment wanted to do something to improve the lives of children around the world. They chose to partner with the Korean and Japanese committees for UNICEF, to raise funds and awareness to further the work of UNICEF's campaign to #ENDviolence. They launched a hashtag #BTSLoveMyself. Over a 3 year span, it was used over 14 million times across various social media. 8:48 ~~ That ad-lib run is Jungkook. At that time, Jin sings the na na na~ part. If you watch other live videos, you will know A lot of the ad-lib parts in BTS' songs are from Jungkook. You can see that Jungkook is almost always included in the chorus of every BTS song.

Maybe they were feeling more free. This was the first time they had been able to go outside of Korea since the pandemic started. What I thought was interesting is that they did play this video for the General Assembly after their speech. If you remember Permission to Dance and the MV was about coming out of the pandemic and taking off the masks and just living. And they not only danced in the UN but then showed it to all of them and the pandemic wasn't over yet! Yes epic! You really should watch the first time they were at the UN and RM spoke about their love yourself /speak yourself campaign. It truly shows why he is the leader. So eloquent. Also, at 10:47 mark, watch as they line up. You see their back and they are stretching their arms out as the camera pans around to their front... Not only are they singing, but they are also singing in sign language. They done this in other songs, but they incorporate signing throughout this entire song (you'll see it best in the official mv,) because they wanted EVERYONE to have Permission to Dance. Here's the deal, all 7 BTS Members are all-rounders. They all can sing, rap, beat box, dance, play instruments, & run sound boards. You can hear J-hope sing during the BTS Tiny Desk Concert. The did the recording hours after arriving to the US and started it dawn until the sunrise before the working hour starts in the UN then did the speech in front of the delegates afterwards. Love your perspective on videos and performances, and I know you are recently active with BTS, but just a FYI, most runs, harmonizing, riffs, adlibs, background vocals, etc., are done by the main vocalist of BTS, Jungkook. Their roles are listed as the following: RM is leader and main rapper, J-Hope is main dancer, rapper and sub vocalist, Jin is vocalist and visual, Suga is lead rapper, Jimin is main dancer and lead vocalist, V is lead dancer, vocalist and visual, and Jungkook is main vocalist, sub rapper, lead dancer, and center. Just to clarify (because it confused me initially), being the “Main” is higher than “Lead”.

So they are there to relay their message and have given multiple speeches. This was during their 3rd time at the UN. Really a nice song. Just one of the many aspects of the wonderful journey is not only performances in unique places, but also three unique and powerful visits to the United Nations to speak and their visit to see President Biden and support the Black Lives Matter movement. I’m sure you have also heard of the power of ARMY in that regard and others. BTS’s movement for unity in all ways and the Love Yourself campaign have changed many lives. They were there as So Korean ambassadors to all do speeches at the UN regarding sustainability AND I think this was one of the first times they performed around actual people WITHOUT masks…..so the freedom and pure joy they were exuding was genuine for them💜 if I remember correctly…..the US restrictions were lifted much earlier then their own country so they weren’t able to experience this type of freedom back home🥺

Yeah i think the same, the outdoor is a recording in a closed door studio and the timing of Jimin and Jin putting away the mic was a bit early than the lyrics. But still its their voices with less musical instruments. BTS 💜

The lobby is a lot different than the Assembly Room. It's got circular walls surrounding the assembly room, a floor of tile or marble instead of carpet, and is much, much higher. It has an echo. Inside, world business is being conducted and people have to hear each other. The lobby is an entrance, you should hear the noise when the excited 2nd graders come to see all the flags and the curvy wall. BTS's main public charity is UNICEF (United Nations Childrens' Educational Fund) and their cause is ending violence against children and anti-bullying.

I think their confidence at this point comes from the fact that this was their 2nd time presenting at the UN and probably from the adrenaline of no sleep, they had to film this video early in the morning before anyone got in! 😂

might i suggest watching several of the epic mama or mma awards show performances in their entirety to get a grasp of the level bts can take things. there will be a compilation of bts songs and performances of a half hour or more that often get clipped on vids, a spectacle where american awards shows can't even compare.

Thank you for your reaction and analysis! I think this was recorded multiple times and they tried to take the best take. They filmed partly pretty soon after landing if I remember correctly. The only thing I know is that whatever was done it was done fast because they showed this - what? - 48 hours later at the UN together with their speech. BTS was requested for the SDG Moment (Social Development Goals) of the UNGA. It was a bit short timed so neither the UN nor the president Moon knew if it would fit BTS schedule but BTS made time. In an interesting ceremony at the Blue House the members got diplomatic passports that they had to give back a few months later. But they flew out with the SK delegation in 2021. In fact there were politicians hanging around fascinated with them and even filming them when they gave their speech. Fasincatingly that got the SK president and his people clout and people actually asking them to talk to them instead of the other way around. President Moon had planned to give SK art to the UN but there is a waiting list for it and no guarantee were it would end up. So they called up the Metropolitan Museum of Art and offered it to them. The museum had at first no interest. But they told them they had planned to send BTS and the president's wife to give it to them but if they didn't want it they would offer it to someone else. Suddenly the Met was very interested and even created a small after hour event. I think there are a few artists that have sung in front of the UN but not "performed" like BTS. The list were at that time were about 7 or 8 people - among them Beyoncé and Shakira. The rest are more famous elsewhere like Arabia or India (I believe). Hobi is also a sub-vocalist so we sometimes hear his beautiful vocals, too - like in "Spring Day" performances (but not the MV). The sign language in the choreo is also great. You nice! Keep going!
