Thanks for your very thoughtful and reflective reaction to this. Love Magic Shop - it always brings the tears because it is sooo touching. Of course, you're right, it is written for ARMY, as in fact so are most BTS songs. Even those songs which clap back are written for ARMYs, and those sharing some of the pain that the members have faced are also very personal sharing with ARMYs. This song is specifically about comfort and healing. Based on BTS' response to the book Into the Magic Shop, it talks about finding your place of safety and comfort. The story is that of a neurosurgeon who had an awful deprived childhood, very lonely and deeply troubled and struggling, but one day he came across a magic shop on the other side of town. The owner's mum was visiting at the time, and when he went in she offered him a cup of tea, and soon he was visiting daily. Over the next weeks she taught him what he later found out was meditation. He decided he would change his life and started to study, using his new skill to learn to settle his fears and pain and to focus. Eventually, he found himself. It's a very powerful story, and ARMYs find it deeply comforting.

it´s a hopefull song. because they talk about how army saved them in more than one way. army lifted them up in the sky and also gave then courage to move on despite the hate they got. and they felt motivated to make more songs to help and motive their fans. suga have talked about this greed before. he said it turned him into a monster, because he got attacked by haters alot and when he won an award or something, it proofed to the haters he was better so it fuel him to do more. but he actually got blinded by it like so many artist do. but then he took a step back and saw how many people his lyrics helped instead and it was way more rewarding to him. they all feel like that. but i think suga was the one with most anger because of his life in general. he talked about it in his amygdala song. Suga is always honest when he speak and write lyrics. you will get the truth no matter if it is hard to hear. RM too.

listening to this song and all the other love yourself songs was after reading the book they released and knowing everything they were going through in those times makes me cry too much. they were going through one of the worst moments of their lives but still they wrote, produced and composed songs like magic shop, dude, really bangtan is one of the few groups that are sincere and loving towards their fandoms. I will always be grateful that they found me 💜🤧

This is one of those BTS songs that you can take a little dip in or do a deep dive into the many & various layers of meaning. The song was inspired by neurosurgeon James R. Doty’s book, "Into The Magic Shop." (But that is not the only or original source.) The BTS lyrics describe their Magic Shop as being inside our hearts as a place we can visit for spiritual or mental healing. In the shop we can replace unhappiness with hope and self love. The concept is much more involved than that, for example it has been used therapeutically in psychology and as a meditation tool for calming effects. Sydney Ruben wrote that it is "a psychodramatic technique that exchanges fear for a positive attitude." BTS wrote the song to comfort ARMYs through any rough patches they may have. In this particular song, when BTS kisses ARMY (via the cameras) and gives finger hearts, they are showing ARMY their sincere love and caring for us. BTS's connotations are compassion and encouragement, not romance. Fascinating subject.💜💜💜💜💜💜💜
