Exactly, BTS didn't invent kpop, they didn't start it. They made it mainstream to the international audience. I'm crying so much, my boys...They deserve the world. It's hard to believe because they were so small and there are generations before them, but they surpassed them all by a long shot. I'm so proud. It took an extremely long time, it took a decade, it didn't happen over night. But they made it. They truly did paved the way 🥺

imma just need media outlets to stop calling every K boy group ‘the next BTS’. and fans to stop going after the groups mentioned in said articles, it is neither the fans nor the groups fault that a random author woke up and decided to cause havoc😭 the way this happened literally 5 days ago there is and will only ever be one BTS. there is no such thing as ‘next BTS’

True even BTS experienced this around 2019 being called as "THE NEXT BEATLES" but BTS really paved their own way, and opened the door for other Kpop groups. I felt so bad for other groups and fandoms whenever I see articles on Billboard that calling several groups as "The Next BTS" when in fact they can achieve success on their own by also going on the path that BTS paved ofc its not an easy way or a shortcut road. Acceptance is the real key :>

@EUREKA I don't see how clapping is something to be praised for. And they're idols on the public eye and on tv. Of course they're gonna clap. That's how idols are taught by the company regardless if they have an issue with the other groups. Not saying they do. But that's the reality of it. Unless it's a standing ovation, clapping is the bare minimum.

The most groups don’t have a problem with that- it’s a fact… many fandoms are the problem here… just because BTS made the whole K-POP industry more popular international doesn’t mean other groups doesn’t work hard .. but many fandoms think so I guess… like I said- all the K-pop groups are working really hard!! BTS did it and many more too :-) But many groups does have it more easily, because they have more back up from industry … but that’s not a problem with the groups- it’s the industry and their system on shows etc..

Yes I’ve seen their half behind flimsy “clap” with their bored faces and? (BP). Most of the time they look zoned out and could care less. Not just them but a lot of groups. What makes me hyped is that BTS shows mad respect and deep appreciation for all the groups no matter how lacking their performance may be. Watch them. BTS will get up out of their chairs, dance, clap and cheer them on. I’m just saying mutual respect for every idol group whether you like them or not and this action may lead to no more fan wars. I have a special respect to the groups that admit BTS paved the way even though I may not care for their music per se.

Even though I'd consider myself a Blink, I definitely see the overwhelming evidence pointing to the fact that BTS is the group that paved the way for kpop to mainstream global success. It's weird people argue about this point, because them doing that doesn't diminish their own favourite group's successes. EDIT: I just got the part of the video where someone is arguing in chat that Blackpink is what got them into Kpop. It's funny because even though Blackpink is the only group I've ever paid money for concerts/albums, that means nothing when it comes to the argument about paving the way. Paving the way means BTS' success in practice created an environment that allowed other groups to more easily access a larger market. So any argument about how whichever group you found first being "the one that paved the way" is automatically a moot point. Impact =/= Paved the way, a lot of groups have had impacts on the industry.

BTS PAVED THE WAY It is actually interesting because they started from very little to looking where they are today is more than what 2013 offered. They had to work their way up. Throughout 9 years, almost 10 each time they acted and remain humble and always give gratitude to ARMY. If you look at their first dance practices, it was in the old building Big Hit, small dance room, and now in the Hybe building it has 17 floors and the dance practice room itself is upgraded. When they were small and making their way, before 2017 they did not go on many variety shows and instead created Run BTS. A lot of the economic changes and growth partially came from revenue of BTS music, tours, and merch. When I listen to Kpop music, other artists and their songs, I stream and listen because I like their stuff not because of views. Their song SEA, the lyrics show the hardship(s) they went through in the early years of their career. Suga sings the line “the seven of them sleeping in one bedroom”. Hardships continued later on (2018 LY era) with other things like plager*sm, xenophobia, racism). Great video Sebastine!! 💜

I salute Boracity Magazine for her video, risky but it is the truth. I remember when I was in highschool (2015) all of kpop fans in our class are Exo-ls, Sones, VIP and im the only one who knows BTS they told me before "Who are they? They're not even famous. You're stanning a poor and flop group etc." But when 2016 came and BTS won their first ever daesang in MMA and Artist of the Year (daesang in MAMA) my classmates became ARMY (update they are still ARMY to this day that now we are college students). BTS proved to me that a group from a small company could make it too, little did I know that will be the start of their stardom and they will be the biggest boygroup in the world. I may stan other groups now aside from BTS but I will never regret the happiness of being an ARMY, those times that I defended them from haters on socmed, all of those happy moments whenever they won in award shows, and the huge amount of help that BTS gave me through music when I suffered in PTSD and Depression (they are one of the reasons why I survived my challenging youth) They deserve all of the awards and recognition they received, despite being called as "Superstars" now they remain humble, their passion for music never change, and their love for ARMYS didn't fade. This year will be their 10th Anniversary and I would say that BTS is not yet done they will achieve more and more And for those haters that said BTS will finally in their downfall when they go to Military service huh jokes on you guys :>

The narrator speak FACTS. She appreciate all the Kpop groups before BTS for introducing KPOP but those all Kpop groups never paved for other artists like BTS did. Because the Big 3 (SM, YG, JYP) companies never let others artists to shine and love to sabotage other artists especially artists from small companies. They are also why BTS take longer time to get popular. BTS has made the path become more easier for others to enter. And now the Big 3 is busy trying to create the 'next BTS' and throwing away their artist natural talent instead of let their artist to create music in their own way or style. All Kpop artists is unique and I don't want them to be 'next someone'. Diversity of music and style in Kpop industry is what made me fall in love in Kpop.

3:11 and 3:40 Yup this is basically why BTS paved the way regardless of who is the most popular Kpop artist in the future. BTS were the first K-Pop group to release Top1 hits, become mainstrean, and stay in that position to this day it is a fact, objective not subjective. They caused a lot of people to check out other groups from the industry making it smoother for those groups to have more fans instead of them having to rely on solely just K-Pop fans from mid-3rd gen and past generations.(Which obviously had a smaller audience than it did before 2017 and forward. Not saying the fandoms were little just saying that they were less compared to right now.)

The 4th gen still has so much to learn like grow tf up i don't even stan bts but at least ik how to respect artist and don't hate on them because they're angry their favs aren't at the top like stfu and grow up BTS will go down in history as the group that paved the way the very first time I heard about kpop was bts in 2021 I didn't start to listen to kpop till July of 2022 and stan skz If it wasn't for bts I wouldn't have watched a reator react to skz then I would even be into kpop because they pretty much started the whole kpop reactions on yt SORRY THIS IS SO LONG LMAO I JUST FREAKING HATE HATERS 😭😭😭😭😭😭

Already disowned them lol) Comparing skz to bts is stupid cuz 1. They as a artists themselves respect eo as a senior/junior so much! 2. Companies fault.. stop trying to make them seem as the "next bts" when they obvi work hard and pressuring them to follow bts road of success while losing themselves, is too much! Skz or just any 4th gen grp hv their own sound, name and popularity and fans 3. This leads to unnecessary fanwars and hate to bts (and ofc to the grps by toxic armys who think bts is the only grp that existed) and honestly neither grps deserve the hate , and its a fcking headache to my multistan ass...

Like the vidoe said, they just want to replicate what bts have achieved instead of taking this as an opportunity to spread their art and music in global market, they just want what bts have to be known as better than bts but if they actually focus on their music and their own artistic identity using this opportunity they might be able to be better than bts one day but they want instant fame and name

If you ask the average person about K-Pop, most of the time, BTS is the first thing they mention. Just because this fan of K-pop learned about k-pop from another group doesn't mean that group paved the way. I knew about kpop long before the Gangnam Style boom, but I wasn't interested in bands and Korean artists, culture, dramas, etc. it only happened after I became interested in BTS. I found out about them thanks to the army's vlog from their concert in LA. Just read -> Blue House spokesman Kim Yoo Kyum stated, “It has been decided that the Hwagwan Order of Cultural Merit will be awarded to the seven members of BTS who further promote the spread of hallyu (Korean wave) and have influenced the development of k-pop culture and art ". BTS are the only group to receive this award! Not Stray Kids or BP, Got7, Exo, Psy… none of them. BTS is a group that has shaken the Korean economy, thanks to them other groups can get a deferment from the army for 2 years, this is a group that they wanted to exempt from compulsory military service. What if not this is the bottom line that bts actually paved the way¿! Everything that was said in the video, all these facts ... they are the ones that prove that BTS has taken k pop to another level in the world. It was they who paved the way!

It’s the whole story from start to now. Where they came from, who they are, the struggles they had. I am over 40 and have no interest in K-pop. Such a toxic industry. BTS has left that behind. They are much bigger than that now. They write, produce, sing, rap, they do it all sharing a great message along the way. They are a world wide boy band, the other K-pop groups have not reached that yet. There will never be another BTS, accept it. This started with my daughter but i finally realized how important they were to her and have nothing but respect for them.

My shock in 2022 when I saw their albums after 2019 😳 just nobody can even imagine this. And now I’m here and even loving the early BTS school songs 😂

I hate to come back and reading some of the comments and how Boracity explained what "Paving the way" means people STILL acting obtuse its sad but laughable, NOBODY is putting down other groups, I've come to the conclusion people just want to be mad about something and instead of being logical are Wayyyy to emotional about FACTS all of what Boracity talked about can be Googled, Kpop was not that popular till BTS came here ( America) is not that hard we the American fans didn't know anything about Kpop are how huge it was in Korea till Bts now its on scale that even some of ya'lls favs can be known and get new fans you would think that would be satisfying but once again some of you are stuck on PAVING the WAY and think that is taking away from the hardwork of other kpop groups. BTS paved the way whether you like or not. How is one group and one company can cause a major economic shift and the big 3 and with many groups aren't? That within itself is telling.

As much of an ignorance this is on kpop society an example of this is shown like when kpop groups are in the US, on multiple occasion alot of interviewers and passerby call these kpop group "BTS" even when they are not . This is to show that if anything kpop related comes to anyone mind who is not well aware of it will think BTS and only BTS, as much of this ignorance is hurtful to see

The fact that BTS paved the way is a fact that I would always agree with even if I'm not one of their biggest fans. Why? Because looking at my journey as a kpop fan, they were the first group whose songs I ever listened to. I still like those songs, it's just that I'm not that big of a fan of the group. In fact, you could call me "just a fan of kpop / multistan" because my preferences change every time lol 😂😂🤣 But, did BTS pave the way? The answer is a big YES because they're the reason I came to know kpop. They're the reason I know all the groups I stan now.

I was waiting for your reaction to this video! 💜 The way this brought out so many emotions out of you is so relatable lmao When we say BTS paved the way, k-pop fans think that we are saying that to undermine their favorite groups or solo artists success and basically saying that "BTS made their careers" but that's not true it all. BTS paved the way means that BTS opened ways and more opportunities for k-pop acts to grow and be known in the global industry. I've been into k-pop for years, I've been an army since 2016 but I know k-pop way before and let me tell you that after BTS got that award at the BBMAs in 2017 and started to get more and more global recognition, a LOT of things changed in k-pop. Maybe it's harder for new k-pop fans to recognize the "BTS paved the way" because they know the current k-pop and since the beginning have watched a lot of K-pop idols in the charts and promoting in USA and other countries, but that was not common it all. I think it's ok if Kpoppies don't want to mention BTS because they don't have to, but what it is wrong is they and other labels and their groups discredit BTS' hard work and being in denial. I respect all the idols that have admitted that fact, say thank you to Bangtan for what they did and keep going with their careers. BTS paved the way are facts, not something that Army just invented. the "x paved their own way" it's just sad because we all know the truth...

I will say that I was really happy to see your reaction to this. The video lays out a good argument. But the core of the issue is exactly what she says... BTS didn't create the road (1st gen created the industry, 2nd gen tried to expand beyond Korea but remained limited), but what matters is what BTS did do, they created new paths, they created new opportunities, they expanded the road and smoothed it out so that it is easier for others to follow behind. None of that diminishes the invention, the work, and efforts of anyone before them as they created the road, and succeeded in what they did. None of that diminishes the success or role model status of other groups from 3rd or 4th gen. It is up to each group to work hard, find a combo of factors that work for them (including sound, image, personality, creativity, connection to fans, and work ethic). Each and every group can then be role models to other groups to help others find their own combo, to find ways to make use of the roads that are now available (thanks to the efforts of many artists who have dug them, and those who have paved them). It is 100% possible to recognize and respect the efforts for all of them, for those who invented the road, for those who helped to popularize it in Korea, for those who first looked beyond Korea, for those who expanded the road, those who paved the road, those who are now traveling that road and seeking their own goals, those who are looking for new unexplored paths, and those who are helping others along the way. For the record, I am not Army. I recognize and respect BTS for their efforts and as artists. There are many BTS songs that I enjoy, but they are just not a group that I connect to in general. That is the beauty of music as a whole, there is so much diversity of sound so that people can and will find what connects to them. But just because you don't connect does not mean that there is a need to HATE. What is the point of hating a group? It's a waste of energy. All that ends up happening is that you deny yourself and others from finding peace and happiness from what you can connect to over superficial reasons. And it does what? What does it change? Nothing but their own view of the world. If people stop the hate, and just enjoy what they enjoy and move on from what they don't, they would be happier people. To me, this whole toxic fandom fighting and hate mongering is like saying Leonardo Da Vinci was a pointless artist because he didn't create the tools or methods of art. That is ridiculous. Da Vinci was an artist. Period. No ifs, ands, or buts. Any person could love his art, any person could think that it isn't a style they like and prefer Monet instead. However, personal opinions of the art does not change the impact of Da Vinci, nor any artist before him, or after him. He is one of many who had significant impacts on the evolution and history of art. End of story.
