I really disagree with what was said about their past. They were very much into hip hop and knew the history of it, I'm actually surprised celeste agreed. They didn't apologise for how they were dressed because it was them as teenagers portraying how they viewed hip hop, was it cringy? Yes but there wasn't anything actually problematic about it. I had no idea Korea didn't appreciate BTS. Maybe that is why they don't seem to realize how big they are globally. Like their level of humility is almost out of touch with reality. Like j-hope stated he was surprised he was headlining at Lollapalooza, he was just happy to perform there at all. Meanwhile he broke records and was one of the biggest artists they ever had. When BTS performed at IHeart Radio Jingle Ball 2019, they stated that they were so surprised and excited by the cheering and chanting. They didn't think there would be many Army because the lineup had such huge names. They didn't even realize they were the biggest name and had drawn the most fans.

If you look back to many interviews with at least RM and Sugar, they absolutely knew and had great respect for many black US artists and their music before BTS. V was really into older soul music before BTS. Then JK was sent to the US with their choreographer very early on (before American Hustle) to learn. JK was not just the youngest but terribly shy, he was more interested in dancing than singing and that trip was so successful that Hype sends all their groups to the US for early training. BTS is quite unifique to most groups, especially in the K-pop training machine, in that all 7 of them are uniquely talented. You have to remember that BTS right from the start were very involved in the ideas and creation of their songs and themes. This is huge and not typical in other K-pop groups. In fact many BTS Army have said they are only interested in BTS because their musical is so much more creative and better.

Its not that the groups from the Big 3 "ONLY" purposely targeted the Asian market, its just that it's the "ONLY" market where they can sell their work being foreign artists w/ non English songs. So the reality is BTS REALLY DID PAVED THE WAY not only for other K-POP artists but mostly for the BIG 3. Who can now have a share in what BTS created for K-pop and K-culture. As for me I'm not a multi stan and will only follow BTS. If there's no more BTS nothing in K-pop will hold me to stay with it. For others who went this genre cuz of BTS and would still stay even after BTS, then this is one more contribution BTS made for K-pop in their "paving the way."

it's a statement that can be backed up by facts, and the fact that even Seo Taiji passed the flag to them should say enough. many kpop fans feel unnecessarily offended by this fact, but acknowledging that BTS paved the way for kpop today does not negate their faves' own little successes. Even their faves acknowledge it, why does it cause them to throw such a fit about it? They should be thankful for the opportunities BTS has provided for their faves and there isn't any shame in that. For example I respect Bang Chan for saying that on his Vlive, he's his own person in his own group with their own succes, yet acknowledges how BTS paved the way for them. I really appreciate that. Rather than -some- idols who act oblivious to the fact or try to claim certain achievements as their own, or claim to have a goal to be the first to do something when that has already been achieved by BTS, completely discrediting them. Grammy interviews, performances and appearances in US Late Night shows, large scale tours, appearing in the Billboard charts etc. is all thanks to the way BTS paved for them. The struggles and prejudice BTS had (and still has, unfortunately) to deal with for other groups to get these opportunities is something that should be acknowledged and appreciated. Also, being the first to do something ≠ paving the way, for all those kpop stans trying to bring up that non argument all the time.

BTS, especially rapline always knew about hip hop tho, they were always hip hop heads growing up, they've listened to black music, yoongi and joon were underground rappers and hobi was a hip hop street dancer, their idols are real hip hop legends and they acknowledge real hip hop, therefore they did not learn about it after AHL but they sure did learn how to respect it after it. They were taught the origins and history of black music. They were uncultured but they've learned, apologized and grew from their wrong doings. I don't know why people still bring up those things that happened years ago when there's clearly growth and self reflection. Like even to this day you have hobi posting about and paying homage to black culture, his album as a whole is old skool hip hop, namjoon damn well respects it too, as well as the other members. My point is that the boys are very passionate about and always loved hip hop before AHL.

Thanks for bringing in non army to share their viewpoints. It is so very sad that this video had to be made. The level of hate and jealousy displayed towards BTS has constantly astounded me since I started listening to them. I’ve never seen anything like it in all my life. The saddest part of it all is that these 7 men (boys when they began) have never been anything but respectful to everyone. Even when they were treated unkindly they never acted the same in return. They have never put on airs or acted like they were big celebrities. Earlier this year at J-Hope’s album listening party, Jin was nervous because celebrities were going to be there and asked how to talk to them. How humble is he??? As RM gives credit to their success it is Army 50%, Big Hit/Hybe 15% and each member only 5%. Bang PD had the vision, he chose the perfect individuals somehow seeing their talent, personalities and possibilities, gave them the platform to create their music freely and organically, providing the best support team. Kim Namjoon, Kim SeokJin, Min Yoongi, Jung Hoseok, Park Jimin, Kim Taehyung and Jeon Jungkook took this freedom to create from their heart and souls and that with their amazing talent is why they have become global superstars. While others created K-Pop, cracked the door and took a few steps into the global market, BTS knocked the door down and paved the road. The Beatles were the British invasion. BTS is the Korean invasion. 😉 Whether you like the phrase “paved the way” or not, it is exactly what BTS did for K-POP. 💜

Very interesting and nice to hear kpop fans that aren’t armys say their piece and NOT discredit BTS and the fact that they DID pave the way. However, I was very disappointed that it was painted by you that BTS were completely ignorant to hiphop before AHL and had no understanding of the art form they were using as inspiration. It’s especially upsetting hearing that from Rosan since she’s an army. I think it’s a pretty well known fact atp that one of the reasons BTS was able to set themselves apart was their sincerity toward their craft and their knowledge of their craft. Joon and Yoongi weren’t idols forced into a ‘rapper’ position because they couldn’t sing, they were two people who fell in love with hip hop as children/teenagers and pursued a passion in that before even becoming idols. They ABSOLUTELY knew the history of their art form and they NEVER shied away from crediting and talking of their influences and love for the artists they admire and see as inspiration. They were true students of their craft. Teenagers who grow up in a culture and industry which was and is still pretty ignorant to black culture and therefore hip hop are put into a difficult spot whether they have any knowledge in those things or not. 1) Back then the company decided they’re ‘aesthetic’ and they, as teenagers/young adults/rookies didn’t have any authority over that. 2) Teenagers do a lot of silly things with no real malice behind them because they wanna be ‘cool’ and don’t necessarily understand or fully grasp the full moral implications behind their actions. We can see they absolutely understood where they went wrong from their later apologies (which you did acknowledge). In conclusion, I don’t think they were ever completely ignorant to hip hop and black culture… their music, the name drops and the things they’ve talked about since the start in interviews DIRECTLY contradict that idea. But what I would say is that because of the society they grew up in and the fact they were young and little ignorant (as MOST teenagers are) they didn’t fully grasp why dressing a certain way, doing your hair a certain way that imitates a certain culture can cross lines that shouldn’t ever be crossed. And all that is on top of the fact that at that point in their career, they were very young and rookies so they had absolutely no authority over what they wore or how they styled themselves. Of course it was the members who were ultimately dressed and presented this way, so part of the blame falls on them and they should be held accountable, which they were and they apologised (which again, you did talk about.) But Idk I’d just have liked to see more of the blame put on the company since it was really them that put the members in a difficult spot with this. And I’d have liked to see less diminishing of especially Yoongi and joon’s understanding and knowledge on their craft. It was upsetting to see something that is so integral to their foundation as musicians, something they’ve been so vocal about be swept under the rug for such a surface level narrative which omits details and takes a lot of nuance out of the situation making them look much worse and more ignorant than they are/were. It wasn’t a case of lack of knowledge and respect toward the music and their influences, it was lack of knowledge on how to go about representing it visually because of their young age, lack of social knowhow and Korea’s lack of awareness, which unfortunately meant a lot of cultural appropriation and hurt. But please don’t just make them out as ignorant wannabes because despite their mistakes, they were never that. They knew the music, they knew the art, and they always named and credited their influences (see hip hop phile as an example). They were never like those groups that have never listened to or gone beyond the surface level of hip hop and have no idea and just do it because their company told them to and because they wanna be ‘swag’. They were simply people with good intentions that went about some aspects of their brand/image in the complete wrong way at first.

They literally are the genuine embodiment of youth and passion. Well said about how they did not got the rapper position just because they can't sing which is prevelant on idol groups. They came into the scene with exceptional skills already in composing and producing which are the assets you need to be called an authentic hip-hop rapper. Yoongi being a beat maker selling his beats for cheap just enough to either get himself a meal or for his transpo he has to choose one. Being a composer ofcourse has always been natural for him hobi, even share a pre debut story how he would sit beside yoongi looking over his shoulder watching him write songs (out of topic but I would literally watch a movie about yoongis life). RM got introduced to Emminem by his school teacher got inspired and use his poetry to write verses then became active on amateur hip hop circle then eventually became an underground rapper. Their journey couldn't be as genuine as it could which makes up a pure hip-hop artist. And they would always mention their hip hop inspirations with respect admiration and also knowledge. Special mention to hobi which his exceptional hip hop dance skills, from the start even now he always freestyle using iconic hip-hop tracks that not all would recognise if not a true hip-hop fan

Like... They got a Billboard #1, They got a Spotify #1 and was #1 way more weeks than BTS, They have way more subscribers and views than BTS... Like They got all these records in hand but the difference is how and why they got these records in first place. If we look at the stats clearly... Butter could easily be #1 stay there for atleast 2-3 weeks on Spotify if filtering rate weren't so high. Besides the fact Shut down & PV debuted #1, it was out of Spotify way faster than any songs in history..mainwhile Dynamite stayed on Top 10 for 4 whole months. They only could debut #1 on BB200 after promoting crazy and putting lot of versions & even having a countdown for Billboard tracking period helping out blinks to achieve the record. Even with big KZbin subs and views... Blackpink got way lesser interaction in their video (comments and likes) than BTS. It simply shows that some tatics helps them achieve few feats but overall popularity can never be compared to what BTS has.

BTS did not get in trouble in the past for discrediting Hip-Hop. That NEVER happened because they have NEVER ONCE done that. What happened was BTS being accused of "cultural appropriation" and I think we should all be familiar with how bs that is by now. They never did anything wrong, but because they were 7 Korean guys dressed in Hip-Hop fashion that made a lot of black people angry. And I'm black. It would only make me angry if they were doing it as some kind of joke, but that never happened. They had nothing but love and respect for black culture, so it was never "cultural appropriation" it just created noise for those who were too caught up in their own asses to actually look into them. So no. I completely disagree with what my girl on the right said, because it was completely misguided hate from the start. Even STILL they apologized when they didn't even need to.

Yeap, even CL from 2NE1 said BTS helped made it easier for Asian artists, which is why she began doing solo projects outside of Asia. This is part of her interview below during her online press conference back in 2020 where she acknowledged BTS's impact. CL: "I was really happy when I saw BTS's milestone. When I was young, there was no Asian pop star in my childhood memory. We were supposed to express our own culture, but we were just copying other people’s culture. I thought it would be nice to have someone who can represent us.” She added, “That was why I started doing activities in foreign countries. Now, Asian and Korean singers are starting to gain popularity. It’s really easy to express and promote culture in the music industry these days.” CL continued, “This is the case for BTS. The boundaries have become much blurred. Now our music affiliates with pop music instead of just K-pop. I will also work hard to do my part. I know it may not be easy, but it’s definitely something amazing.” Honestly, people can debate about how other K-pop artists paved the way but when you have K-pop artists from 4th gen all the way back to 1st gen acknowledging BTS impact there's just nothing else to have a debate about. Also huge Japanese artists acknowledges them too.

It will always be so goddamn funny to me a key part of the reason BTS gained popularity internationally from very early on happened BECAUSE they were being shut out of the traditional idol systems largely dominated and owned by the Big 3. They couldn't get invited onto shows, they were being cut from broadcast, their screen time was reduced, they were being mistreated and they were too broke to buy their way into these companies goodbooks or fake a number one or get a big brand deal or anything else that would get them prestige and popularity in Korea. Instead they had to focus on youtube and twitter because the kpop companies had zero influence on these platforms, but that actually made it easier to gain recognition internationally because it was actually accessible to international fans. I mean, even if you were curious about Kpop (either a specific group or a the industry in general) before this point, it wasn't exactly easy to find episodes of idol champion or after school club or similar shows that are staples in Korea and you kind of had to know what you were looking for. With BTS you could hear one song, look up the music video, click on their channel or look up their name and immediately end up down the rabbit hole of endless content. Want to know what they're up to and find out about new content or upcoming releases? You don't have to go to the company website or find a press release from a newspaper you've never heard of, the members are right there on twitter on the one account talking all about it and also tweeting their ACTUAL DORM ADDRESS to get chicken plushies. There was a reason why when VLive launched, which made things easier for international fans to access content, they had BTS headline the whole thing despite still being a mid-tier group popularity wise because by the time 2015 hit, BTS had the whole communicating directly with fans via social media and producing their own content DOWN already. The Big 3 and the Korean Entertainment industry wouldn't let BTS follow the path idol's from generations past had paved-- and BTS went and cracked the code to not only paving their own way to being the biggest group in Kpop but into the global market the industry had spent decades trying to crack and waltzed in going "what, like it's hard? We didn't even do it on purpose." And then these companies had to follow THEIR LEAD to get any further. Like DAMN no wonder they're so jealous and salty
@AwakeningWings Жыл бұрын
Yes, this is exactly what happened. Now those companies and k-pop stans are upset about it lol BTS found other ways to interact with fans and also show their music on social media. It's like Namjoon said, it's something along the lines of "we will sneak up on you when you least expect it." He said something like that and it actually happened.

I think that 3 people alone make things difficult for BTS in Korea. They certainly should be should be more popular there than they are in the other 100+ countries around the world. The 'Big 3' CEOs force their idols to not mention BTS or the easiest way to notice is at award shows where BTS put on an insane show and all the idols sit there stone faced like they're afraid to react. Even if you hate BTS' music, you'd still be impressed by a stage full of horses, acrobats, a hundred dancers and walls of fire unless you weren't allowed. That was the first upsetting thing I noticed about KPOP when I started. If I noticed everyone else must notice. Aren't they ashamed of themselves? When others perform, BTS are always on their feet supporting the acts. The whole idol culture needs to transform itself. I think Hybe and all the newer, small companies will eventually correct how 3 people can have as much power as they do.

Great reaction, I love the fact we also got to hear the opinions of non-armys talking about this topic and being actually respectful 💜 When we say BTS paved the way, k-pop fans think that we are saying that to undermine their favorite groups or solo artists success and basically saying that "BTS made their careers" but that's not true it all. BTS paved the way means that BTS opened ways and more opportunities for k-pop acts to grow and be known in the global industry. I've been into k-pop for years, I've been an army since 2016 but I know k-pop way before and let me tell you that after BTS got that award at the BBMAs in 2017 and started to get more and more global recognition, a LOT of things changed in k-pop. Maybe it's harder for new k-pop fans to recognize the "BTS paved the way" because they know the current k-pop and since the beginning have watched a lot of K-pop idols in the charts and promoting in USA and other countries, but that was not common it all. I think it's ok if Kpoppies don't want to mention BTS, because they don't have to but what it is wrong is they and other labels and their groups discredit BTS' hard work and being in denial. I respect all the idols that have admitted that fact, say thank you to Bangtan for what they did and keep going with their careers. BTS paved the way are facts, not something that Army just invented. the "x paved their own way" it's just sad because we all know the truth... Like you guys said, even if BTS were the ones that did all of this, they have never really took the credit for that and they don't forget to mention their influences and thanking the fans. It's really hard for me to stan and keep staning a group that is not humble. BTS is totally the opposite and that's one of the reasons why I love them so much. 💜

I think blaming fans for the lack of approchement between other groups and BTS is silly, because fanwars happen between all fandons' groups and even though idols don't necessarily see each other as rivals, their companies are rivals because they compete with each other. BTS is a rival to all these companies, their insane and inexplicable popularity threatens them, and this is not only after they became popular in 2017, but when they started making noise in Korea with I NEED U. In a radio interview in 2015, Yoongi said that during the recording of year-end ceremonies and stuff like that, the other groups would talk to each other and never approach BTS, and Yoongi felt that he and the boys were isolated from others, that's because, at the time, BTS , a group from a small company, was threatening the success of big groups from BIG 3 and shortly after, they would take home a Daesang that previously belonged to BIG 3 groups. y’all ain’t getting the hiphop part, so many kpop “rappers” ain’t know no history of rap, or the even the most influential/most respected rappers in rap history, they’ll probably just know Kanye or jayz. They don’t know none about writing lyrics, they didn’t understand it because when you listen to kpop rappers rap they rap none sense really, they’ll rap a few rhymes and that’s it, no wordplay, a okay/decent flow, the delivery is alright. Compare that to bts? BTS knows RAP, like any older rapper here in the US. BTS has the best rap line in Kpop, no kpop rapper is on their level🤷♀️. As said by Nicki Minaj, REAL RAPPERS WRITE THEIR RAPS! Okay yes they did dress like the typical rap aesthetic back then but they still understood rap better than any idol has. The only reason they dressed that way was because they thought then they’d be considered real hiphop artists as you know many ‘underground rappers’ in Korea looked down on them for not being “hiphop” enough as they thought : idol ≠ hiphop . I also won’t deny the problematic past they had BUT! Kpop groups stay taking from black artists and not giving credit where credits due and that’s just not bts, they stay crediting black artists because they understand black music is the reason kpop exists period💁♀️

Obviously I can't speak for a community but they were teenagers (or rather young adults) who acted like teenagers and incorporated what they thought was "cool". They in no way ever "disrespected" it and quite frankly I honestly don't think they ever treated it lightly either, it was more so that they admired so much so that they adopted certain aspects and integrated themselves with it. The rappers lived and breathed hiphop which astounded me cause I've never heard of people who "rap" even mention the rappers they acknowledged. I'm not glorifying it, I know it's cringey and corny. ❣️A great reaction video as always! I really enjoyed seeing & hearing Brie's and Ruby's reaction and comments. I would love to see them again watching other informative videos about BTS. There were things they themselves didn't even know about BTS, not because they are fans of other groups, but because they genuinely didn't know or realize all the struggles and hardships BTS has endured over the course of their career. It would be interesting to see them and hear their thoughts as they learned the real facts. Boracity Magazine does such a great job in presenting the facts, same with "TheRiseOfBangtan" docu-series. 💜

I am shocked that you agreed with the statement about rapline not knowing much about hip-hop during their trainee years. This is incredibly false. Their trainee vlogs and stories prove this. Were they more exposed after AHL? Sure. But even the vocal line knew the importance and difference back then of what they were doing.

i will note what a bunch of other folks called out here. bts' backbone, namjoon, as well as yoongi (and hoseok later on), were very serious about hip-hop from before even becoming trainees. they were underground rappers at the age of 13. namjoon had literally made a name for himself in the community even back then. they weren't in it just for the cool aesthetic. they presented themselves that way in their early years because that was simply what was acceptable and associated with hip-hop at the time. they couldn't be rapping the way they did in the school trilogy and then dress the way the did later on, because that would simply seem funny at the time, and it would probably earn them a lot of criticism and malicious comments as well. the fact that they incorporated this aesthetic as (non-black) teenagers and artists does not mean that they didn't understand and respect the genre of music they were doing. it may be seen as embarrassing or even problematic now (which is not something i enspouse honestly) but that was what was expected from hip-hop artists then. and it's safe to say none of the guys had any malicious intents in dressing that way at all. they just wanted to be cool and live up to the music they created and loved. i personally see nothing wrong with that. P.S. great video regardless btw! you guys were very open minded. this video of boracitymagazine's is very important and more people need to watch it for sure. props to celeste for bringing her non-army friends along for the ride.

when jin was doing his variety promotions for his album, I remember seeing soooo many comments from koreans that were like, ‘I had no idea who bts were, I only vaguely knew they existed’ or ‘I wasn’t really interested in bts and don’t know much about them’, like so many that I was surprised. I understand if there’s one or two, but literally I would see at least 5 or. 6 topvoted comments like that. like what?! you know nothing about one of the biggest music acts in the world..?! maybe I’m overreacting but like. it’s bts man 😭 you’d never see ppl comment this stuff about blackpink i feel. maybe it’s just me. I also remember seeing some comments from other bts videos that became slightly popular among Koreans about how they assumed bts were foreign because they only knew about their achievements in the US and it surprises them to see that bts are so korean. like wtaf. it was truly bizarre to me that they’re so well known in my country and so many Koreans barely even know or acknowledge their existence considering how massive they are. and korean armies to this day reply to those comments like oh thanks so much for getting to know our bts~ as if they’re a nugu group and it’s 2015. truly just such an odd experience and honestly very sad.

It's interesting to see so many Koreans say this. It's also because the media hardly speak about BTS and so most people may not know about them. The media talk about other groups achievements and stuff. There's hardly anything about BTS over there so it's easy to see why barely anyone knows them. Thing is BTS were denied access to the same routes as those other Kpop idols simply because they were from a tiny company that was on the verge of going bankrupt. So they had to find their another ways which was social media. It was their companies youtube channel. They proved to the industry that they didn't require the 'given route' and that therefore makes the industries way obsolete. That was a smack in the face for the especially the Big 3.

20:58 The boys were young and grew up with older artists wearing very similar fashion. Professional stylists came up with what they would wear and what their image would look like. Mind you, that still happens in the rap, dance, and nightclubbing communities. They mimic hip hop MV styles like we try to mirror BTS concert and airport fashion. What is wrong though, is some of the fashion come from US gangs and this they are clueless about. But when you look at it, artists from years earlier were wearing this style and got zero flack over it. Because BTS was as famous as they were internationally small comments became a huge trolling affair. The only thing I would say I understood was the song where they complained about the high heels. Not every woman wears high heels, but why does it matter if BTS sings about this girl their attracted to that wears high heels. That is what they like. So again, other artists singing about beating women, sexually assaulting them, using misogynistic terms, hell, JYP up on award show stage with his hands over a vocalist in her early 20s and even with his head between her legs and he gets no flack, but they target BTS. Again, an organized pull of drama on BTS to beat down the competition right after they dropped their album. We were in the US wondering why they would be upset.

38:54 See, this is exactly the Media-play we’re talking about….. the media play that makes these big 3 groups (especially YG with Blackpink) look bigger than they are. If you actually take a look, you’ll find out that Blackpink is not even HALF as big as BTS! BTS is the biggest group in the world and also One of biggest Acts in the world ever!(while BP doesn’t have anything without the “Kpop female or girl group” title behind that….) Even the popularity of BTS among the general public (people that don’t know of Kpop) is undeniable…. The gp has at least heard of BTS, no such thing for Blackpink. I’m not trying to shame bp or anything, but this faking achievements and constant media play at the expense of BTS really angers me and so many others… This is exactly why (most) Armys dislike this group and rest of Kpop in general.

Is insane. I have watched many interviews to Korean people about kpop and bts, and thanks to that i realized how much down played and look down bts are by the general public. Really, many only know their name but don't take them seriously. They don't know any of their songs and the ones that know them, are only: fire, dynamite, idol and spring day. This is the reason why, when BTS are invited to tv or radio shows, they only play those songs. They even go as far to say they are old, not that big deal, there is gonna be a next group even bigger than bts, making predictions who is the next, saying groups from big companys SM YG JYP are still bigger even when they don't promote because they hear them everywhere, groups like ive exo blackpink shinee bigbang nct twice, the general public know many of their songs but they don't know BTS songs, they don't know and can't understand why they are famous, they think they were just lucky. Many Korean know them because foreigners ask for them. When BTS debuted, they where pretty popular, more than many rockys less than groups from the big3, but they where kind of competing with the big3 groups in sales.

Do they even know the kind of ARTISTS their country own as BTS?!! The pride they should have for owning BTS as their country's could be beyond!!! Its crazyy that those people are not realizing it, BTS became LEGENDS through their MUSIC, moved hearts of millions of people, are loved like crazyy around the world by their devoted fans, It makes me realize that those people are hella brainwashed, stereotyped kpop industry mostly for looks:) What kind of people are they to even assume such thing? Can't they just Cherish and respect what they have!!! They have THE BTS, still they behave like they don't exist, it drives me crazy!!

@@winterbear906 ouch* Not gonna lie, I'm one of those people who thought BTS were only famous because of their good looks and because they have a huge company backing them up Back then they are crazy popular in my country along with EXO, I often hear Love Shot, DNA and IDOL getting played So of course there's no way I wouldn't know BTS and K-pop But here's a thing I'm not fond of K-pop at all But I'm not saying I hate them, I'm just saying it's not my cup of tea Out of curiosity, I watched their MV's And all I can say is: they have crazy visual effects, it was so colorful that the colors doesn't even make sense They have good looks but I don't particularly find them attractive And they have nice catchy music but that's it I just contributed their popularity due to their looks and the insane production Though it's my mistake for thinking that way, but you can't blame me Cause clearly I can see that the girl ARMY's around me are merely obsessed with their visuals and nothing else, they didn't even bother to read the MV's lyrics So what else can I say? Anyways, afterwards years later they release songs like Boy with Luv, Dynamite, Butter, Permission to Dance But their popularity isn't decreasing which I find strange cause back then they weren't even as big as EXO But years later I don't hear much from EXO like their popularity had died down So I gave BTS chances again, hoping to know why they are still popular So I watched their popular MV's again the ones with billions of views Not gonna lie, I'm slightly disappointed Cause all I can see is still the same thing, colorful visuals, catchy music but shallow lyrics The same with Black Pink, cause I don't know how and when they popped up or become popular but anyways BTS songs are still tolerable whenever I hear their songs being played in Public However, for some reason when I hear black pink music play it puts me in a very irritable mood I also watch their MV's to see what's their hype all about but my disappointed is on another level when I watched Black Pink Not because I hate them or anything But I'm just repulsive by they way they are presented For me they just looks like materialistic products being sold by the company Like they are just dolls and puppets And I see no artistry nor any positive vibe in their music They look visually perfect, but seems like in a forced way, their MV'S are also very colorful but more on Pink They have catchy beats, music, and they have crazy production in their MV's But that's just it So that's how I see the KPOP industry in general, very plastic Sorry for the offensive language Like the Kpop industry doesn't even care about their idols, like they are easily disposed of once the fans lost interest in them And the fact that I pity other idols too, cause I know how hard it is to be one The amount of hardwork they put behind the scenes that goes uncredited but also the criticism, fake scandals and harassment they face every single day I can't even imagine living such life which is why I kinda respect these idols but abhor the K-Pop industry The industry don't even pay attention to the music itself, cause most Kpop songs have very shallow lyrics and they focus more on the visuals more than anything They have no artistry And some of the idols are being exploited too because of the contracts Combined those things together Just made me realize that even if I force myself to watch more Kpop I'll never like KPOP So yeah I just gave up, cause the MV's or the songs that I've seen so far isn't just my cup of tea And since BTS is also known as the biggest Kpop act, I assumed they are the same So At that point I completely stopped watching any Kpop related stuff including BTS cause what I've seen so far just solified my assumptions and stereotypes against Kpop music I'm just afraid that if I watch more of any Kpop related content, I'll probably hate them for real And I don't want that cause I don't wanna be a toxic for no proper reason Like I can't even imagine myself hating or bashing a band just because I hate their music Cause if you don't like the music you can just ignore it afterall we have different taste Like why even bother bashing? That's just a complete waste of time,which is why I can't even understand how fan wars even works Back then I've encountered fan wars between EXO fans and BTS fans Including Kpop vs. Anime Such fan wars were too ridiculous Cause first of all how can you even compare anime and Kpop when they are completely different? And the EXO and BTS fan wars is even more funny cause if you like EXO's music then you can just listen to it then ignore BTS But Clearly that didn't happen The fans in both sides are very adamant in depending and attacking other groups Anyways, the comment is way too long so I'll end it here, but lastly I wanna say something though I still don't like K pop, I've completely become a fan of BTS, cause I really love their music and the messages behind it especially their from B-side tracks

@@Nehaaa.004 I used to perceive BTS music as superficial because of pre conceive notions on boyband & Kpop stereotypes. For example Blood Sweat and Tears MV, if I look at it on how boyband in general is perceived, then BTS is nothing more than a bunch of goodlooking dudes wearing make up, wearing fashionable clothes dancing & singing in a catchy tune singing about love to seduce their fans. But if I peel back the layer, Blood Sweat and Tears is not a romantic love song at all, same with Fake Love & Boy with Luv. Because I finally see them as artists, unlike from before, where I only perceive them as idols. Their music didn't change at all in terms of sound, but it completely changed in depth & intent, and I think that's a huge difference. That's why I finally like their music. As for other kpop groups, as long as I see no depth or great intent behind their music, I would never stan them even if their music sounds good. Blackpink for example. Their discography in general can be summarized into 3 things, flashy, catchy, & misogynistic. Their songs are self empowering only for themselves while it degrades other women. I can't stand their music at all, no matter how terribly catchy it is.
@Nehaaa.0044 ай бұрын
@@rafaelsmith5737 oh I see, I was just confused on what you were saying but that was me as well. I had to look at other Army's explanation on the mv and lyrics to understand the message that BTS were trying to send, even their flashy mvs have some meanings that can be shown visually like their background and different objects that are kept in different positions. Many k-pop groups do lack artistic values in their music but there are some who still possess such values. It's great that you understand the intentions behind their music and I hope you have a great day.

BTS had to go to the U.S., the Korean music industries were making it next to impossible for them to get established in S. Korea. Lol....BTS apologized for offending women with lyrics, they've always acknowledged artists that inspired them, if they sampled they acknowledged. "Got into trouble", might want to truly read up on things and not just say, they got into trouble a lot. They are very respectful, and do take responsibility for their lyrics and music. American Hustle life did contribute but not entirely responsible for their "change", they did gain some good & valuable experience. Music industry, everybody knows who wrote, produced and arranged, not just fans. The bigger companies, that was a way of control, it's not that they didn't know BTS was a big part in their musical careers. Lol...again, having the "girl group" saying they want to be the one to open the door, can't stop laughing. BlackPink, their strategy is to say as close to BTS as possible, Spotify, play list, they're next to BTS, everything BTS does, BP tries to do it. I read, that they outsold BTS, Wembly, they sold out Wembly arena that is 12,500, BTS sold out Wembly Stadium which could seat 90,000. BP, if it's truly their agency doing all this, it hurts BP. They are talented, but using BTS strategically, just proves that BP can't do it on their own. They are talented, just let them do it on their own. I like BP, but can't stand that they try to appear that they're bigger than they are, even with all the money their agency is putting into them. Their concerts, they can't lip sync correctly, choreography is terrible. BTS, they are dedicated to mastering their art, not take short cuts. Jin of BTS talked about not having friends, they (people) feel pressured.

But in terms of helping the next generation, it looked like that scene from “CARS” where Lightning McQueen paved the road for Radiator Springs but it looked so sloppy, Rocky-Road-ish. With the ball in BTS’s hands was like same scene but later in the movie when McQueen replaced the same road but made it more smoother & easier to travel on & ahead.

Am I the only one who finds it weird when someone comments that,"Doesnt SM only stays in Asia." Well A Big No! SM Stans have everyone convinced it's the case but No! BOA tried to enter US long ago and failed, SM groups have always released Multiple Eng Song, I think one of them have a full eng album as well, Super M was SM's attempt to dethrown BTS in the West and their premiere event was done in Hollywood itself, SM Idols do Western country tours, Performs in Different festivals and SM always did their best to breakthrough in Western market but they never succeeded! People need to realise that SM even buys actual Western songs and remakes it for their own artists in hope of getting in west! But funfact SM's Idols are not the most popular Idols even in Asia as everyone likes to claim! It's crazy to me how everytime BTS breaking into US or west comes up we hear someone say OH! With artists like Big Bang, 2NE1, Psy, Rain, Girls Generation, Wondergirls and so on I think we could say they... opened the door? As in they made the very first steps into the international market, and brought in a small niche international audience (like me), some of whom eventually became the first ARMYs. But then those same companies immediately closed the door in BTS' face, even actively sabotaging them! BTS had to push that door back open, and once they were through they proceeded to forge a new path through uncharted territory on the other side. Every achievement they made, they were the first Koreans to do it. That's the definition of paving the way!

Yes fandoms help creating this fanwars but i think it all comes down to the labels themself. before social media each group had a fandom manager who posted important information in fanpage. such as telling fans how to vote and buy albums and also teaching them the fanchants. fans quickly learned that being a multi stan can actually ruin your favorite band. as far as i know not many koreans are multistans. they can be a casual kpop listener but not a stan that buy albums and merch of each group. so this behavior is passed down to the new kpop fans. we learn that it is important to help our artist. in the US you just buy an album you like and listen to the songs you want on sportify there is not really a fandom that goes crazy like kpop fans does. i think if we saw collaborations between groups of different labels it would help. because they don´t normally do this because they want the credit themself. and fans notice that too and replicate it. eks a collab between BTS and BP would be so big but both fandoms would try and gain the credit themself saying they had more lines and they were the best and so on. it´s much more common for solo artists to so collabs. it is also the amount of groups in the industry that makes it all that more competitive.
