I’m so glad you’re reacting to their older work, since a lot of “baby” ARMY tend to ignore it. There is a misconception within a part of the community that seems to believe BTS were “flops” during their early years, when the truth is that while, yes, they were underdogs, they were also incredibly successful for a group coming from a small company. This is the reason why they were so attacked and suppressed by the media. This here is just a small list of their achievements from their early “underdog” years (2013-2015): World Rookie Award (Gaon Chart Music Awards) -Best New Artist (Male Group) -Rookie of the Year (Golden Disk) - Disc Bonsang (Golden Disk- *won) - Disc Daesang (Golden Disk- *shortlisted) -Best 3 New Artists (Japan Gold Disc) -New Artist of the Year (Japan Gold Disc) -New Artist of the Year (Melon) -Best New Male Artist (Mnet *nominated) -World Performer (Mnet) -Album of the Year (Mnet *shortlisted) -Best Korean Act (MTV Europe *nominated 2014, won 2015) -Best Worldwide Act: Asia (MTV Europe *nominated) -Best New Artist (Seoul Music) -Bonsang Award (Seoul Music) -Rookie of the Year (Soompi) -Rookie Award (V Chart) 2Kool4Skool -No More Deam, #14 on Billboard World Digital Songs. *stays 3 consecutive weeks O!RUL8,2? -Debuted #4, Gaon Weekly Chart -Debuted #11 Gaon Monthly Chart Skool Luv Affair -Boy In Luv, #5 on Billboard World Digital Songs -Just One Day #25 on Billboard World Digital Songs -Album debuted #3 on Gaon Weekly Chart, rose to #1 two months later -Album peaked #3, Billboard World Albums Chart Dark&Wild -Album debuted #2 Gaon Weekly Chart -Peaked #3 on Gaon Monthly Chart -Ranked #3 on World Albums Billboard *stayed 11 non-consecutive weeks -Ranked #27 on Top Heatseekers -Won Album Division, Golden Disc Awards

Yeah. It seems like some new fans aren't even interested in listening to the earlier albums, they have no idea how some of the older songs are great. Some probably watch the older mvs once just to be able to recognize them and that's it.

TamaoChan i think because our fandom is so big, there are a lot of misconceptions flying around. it also hurts that our fanbase is separated by social media, since instagram fans always seem to be out of the loop when it comes to new information and facebook fans are close behind. Twitter can be kind of toxic, but it is the most informed. For example, I haven’t seen a lot of people outside of twitter talk about their new song coming out this friday.

If you’re planning on delving deeper into this rabbit hole and learn more about the members as people, I recommend learning their legal names (last name, first name). Also, whenever we have to list the members, please know that they will always be listed starting from the leader, then followed by oldest-to-youngest. This is also how the fanchant goes. It’s a sign of respect to the members. RM-Kim Namjoon (nicknames: joon, joonie, nam) Jin-Kim Seokjin (nicknames: jin, jinnie (by fans), seokjinnie (himself) Suga-Min Yoongi (nicknames: too many to count. Just misspell his name and it’s considered a nickname. Sometimes can be spell as Min YoonKi) J-Hope-Jung Hoseok (nicknames: hobi, hobah, sunshine) Jimin-Park Jimin (nicknames: chim-chim, jiminie, jiminah, minie) V-Kim Taehyung (nicknames: Tae, Taetae) Jungkook-Jeon Jungkook (nicknames: JK, Kookie, Gukkie, bunny (by fans)) Also, these are a list of terms you will come across at some point in your journey, so it would be helpful for you to learn them. They helped me a lot at the beginning. Hyung-older brother, used amongst family & friends that are very close. Used by males to refer to males. Younger people must use this when speaking to someone older than them, often as a suffix to their name. For example, JK as the youngest must address all of the other members as hyung Nuna/noona-basically Hyung, but used when males refer to an older female. Oppa-basically hyung, used by females referring to an older male (this term specifically has been often sexualized by international fans who see it as the term “daddy” (yeah, I know). However, it is important to Korean culture and it does NOT mean this. The term sort of took this form because girlfriends will sometimes use it to refer to their boyfriends if he’s older than her. Again, this is a term of respect in Korean culture, and it shouldn’t be used by international fans Unnie-basically hyung, used by females referring to an older female Dongsaeng-younger sibling, gender neutral. Because the age rank in S. Korean favors the oldest, this doesn’t have to be attached to a name. For example, Jin as the oldest does not have to add dongsaeng to the members’ names. He may just call them by their name. He’d use this term, however, when speaking ABOUT them, especially in a formal setting. Sunbae-basically “senior”. Used as a form of respect for someone who has more experience than you in the work place. Hoobae-basically “junior”. For example, in Big Hit, BTS are TXT’s (another group under the label) Sunbae’s and TXT are BTS’ Hoobae’s. These terms are more professional, however, and because BTS and TXT are from the same label and fairly close, they just use hyung and dongsaeng. -sshi (or -ssi)-standard label of politeness to refer to someone. Used in semi-formal situations. You can also think of it as “sir”. They way you’d see it used is attached to a name (Jimin-ssi) -nim-a higher level of politeness. You use it towards you boss, an elder in your family, so on. Often used by BTS when referring to their boss. They also use it when referring to the older members in politeness, attaching it to the word ‘hyung’ (hyungnim) -ah/yah-it’s like calling someone ‘hey’. Not impolite, but only used between close friends/family and only towards someone younger than you/same age as you. You’ll often hear the older members using this to address the younger members (using their legal names) i.e. Jin calling Suga “Yoongi-ah” or RM calling J-Hope “Hobah” (Hobi is one of J-Hope’s nicknames) Friendly and informal. This is only used when you’re speaking TO the person. -ee/ie-only used when speaking ABOUT a person, it implies a sense of familiarity with the person you’re speaking about. Also only used towards someone younger/same age as you. Example, when speaking about Jimin, the members will often call him Jiminie. PD-Producer. You’ll often hear this when the members are talking about Big Hit’s CEO (their boss) Bang Si-hyuk. They’ll call him Bang Si-hyuk PD-nim (since he’s their boss, they must attach -nim to the title). Speaking of Bang Si-hyuk, you’ll also see them call him Hitman Bang, which is sort of his “stage” name. The members do not call him PD-him in this situation, though they only use it when they want to poke fun at him. They have a very close relationship with their boss and mutual respect, so this is always in good fun. Maknae-the youngest in the group. JK is BTS’ maknae. Often referred to as the “Golden Maknae”, a nickname given to him by RM since he’s good at everything. Maknae-Line-you’ll often see this used by ARMY. It usually includes the three youngest in the group - Jimin, V, Jungkook Hyung Line-the four oldest in the group - Jin, Suga, J-Hope, RM Dance-line-the four members who are the official dancers of the group - J-Hope, Jimin, V, Jungkook. Sub-unit -often used in attachment to songs, it’s when the members do a particular song with only a set number of members. For example, UGH is a sub-unit song (often just refer to as a rap-line song) but there are also songs with subunits as rapper/vocal/vocal. These sub-units are often separated into 2/2/3 Weverse-a social media app used only by Big Hit and their groups. The members often post pictures and reply to fans here. They use it more often than twitter. Here, you can also find their web series and documentaries. Weverse Shop- a separate app used to purchase merch and albums Vlive-kind of like YT, used by almost every kpop group out there. Here, the members upload live videos. Big Hit has been trying to slowly get out of Vlive and use weverse exclusively, but until then, you can also find some of their web series in this app. Anything from this app will give you a copyright strike on YT, if you want to post, only do so on Patreon Run! BTS-a web series where the members participate in challenges, play games, and act a fool. Most funny video compilations take clips from here. Completely free, I recommend watching on vlive Bon Voyage-a travel vlog where the members are given a destination, set budget, and then left alone. They have to plan the entire trip, they get no help from their managers, only have a camera crew. It’s meant to help them bond, and show fans their personalities. This is paid content, and there are currently four seasons Burn The Stage, Bring The Soul, Break The Silence-documentaries about the behind-the-scenes of their concerts. This is also paint content. Burn the Stage and Bring The Soul were first released as movies, though there is also a mini video series. Break The Silence doesn’t have a movie as of yet, just the mini-video series. Comeback-any time a group comes out with a new album. BTS is currently working on their new album, and though nothing is official, there are rumors that their comeback will be on October. Comeback trailer-a song often released a few weeks before the album official drops Comeback teaser-little clips released periodically before an album to hint at themes within the album Comeback stage-the first performance a group does of a new song once the album has dropped. BTS is the only group who has had a Comeback Stage at the BBMAs and SNL

Mr. Bang (Hitman Bang) started BigHit with the vision of having a group that would be inspiring peers for the youth. It's exactly the motto that you heard j-hope talk about in a previous compilation video ("Bangtan means to block out stereotypes, criticisms, and expectations that rain on young people like bullets..."). Yes, BTS was started for this purpose and they came out swinging. In South Korea, the school system is much more rigid than in the U.S., and it's also so much more expected of young people to do well in exams so they can fulfill their parents' dreams of getting into one of the big universities and getting "big house, big cars" that SUGA raps about. So this song and era of their music is very anti-establishment. (Actually a lot of their lyrics throughout their career challenge the status quo.) Thanks for the great reaction!

That's why no one can be another BTS and no one can replace these 7 members. NO ONE

ARMY have been joking that Hitman Bang and the Big Hit team have been planning BTS whole discography and career since 18th century 🤭🤭🤭 All their era and trilogy have great and well defined story be it in terms of the visual, sounds or even the Bangtan Universe storyline. Props to the whole team! 👏👏👏

rebecaa, I’m a baby ARMY too (even at almost 51years old). My daughter got me into this when we were supposed to go to the May 14th concert in Orlando. It has been so fun and interesting learning with everyone that is also new to this. It’s also nice being educated by the ARMY that has been around for a while. Thank you.

I recommend just looking at the lyrics on Doolset website. It's much more accurate than a lot of the color-coded lyrics videos and also gives some background explanations as well as song credits.

Yes!! You nailed it! They have stood out since their debut with intelligent, unique, and meaningful lyrics. You are so smart. You have come so far in a very short time and learned so much. This is why BTS so easily draws us in and makes us ARMY. The diversity of their art and their high standards are completely unlike anything else out there. Love your reactions. Thank you for all of the hard work you put into this.

Hi! I don't know how to tell you how relieved I am that you're reacting to their older songs, a lot of ARMYs on youtube like to recommend their newer stuff, but their early albums are also a literal gold mine. I left a similar comment to your previous video, but I'll leave one here too because I think it's really important for anyone who wants to be able to get to know and appreciate BTS on a deeper level: I know there are a ton of comments asking you to react to MMA 2019, however I hope you'll continue to wait until you listen to more of their songs and react to at least MMA 2018 first, if not their even earlier performances. MMA 2019 was their best awards show performance yet and I think many of us would appreciate seeing you witness BTS's growth first and most importantly, listen to more of their songs, both newer and older. In their latest performance on MMA, they reference so many of their older songs and they also performed some songs you haven't even reacted to yet. I wouldn't normally leave a comment asking a reactor to get to know BTS and their older performances first, but you seem to genuinely want to get to know and appreciate them whereas other reactors are just trying to pump out videos for their audience. I really hope you consider this. I'll leave the set list of songs for both 2018 and 2019 just so you know how much you'd probably be missing out on. ARMYs let me know if I left anything out and I'll add it. MMA 2018: 1. Fake Love 2. Airplane pt. 2 3. Idol MMA 2019: 1. Intro: Persona 2. Boy in Love 3. Boy with Luv 4. Mikrokosmos 5. Dionysus Songs referenced in MMA 2019: 1. No More Dream 2. Danger 3. I Need U 4. Fire 5. Save Me 6. Fake Love 7. N.O

Dance line 4 members »Jhope> robotic ,flowy , freestyle hip hop dance moves. »Jimin>sharp/contemporary dance moves »Jungkook>powerful hardhitting/fast dance moves »Taehyung>Smooth/sexy dance moves +expression standout. Suga is also very good dancer after taehyung. Rm and jin improved so much.they all work so hard. I appreciate all their hard work. Rap line 3 members >Rm rap is sometimes poetic,philosophical, emotional/personal and sometimes aggressive with wordplays. >Suga rap is like fire for haters and sometimes personal and emotional. >Jhope rap is flowy/melodic which gives you positive vibes and sometimes aggressive. His flow is so unique. Rap line is amazing songwriter , producer and rappers unique and best in their own way. Vocal line 4 members >Jungkook »Main vocalist , natural singing voice is breathy ,but he can easily do higher and lower notes , his singing is so versatile.he do 80%of adlibs,background vocals and runs in every album.His vocals are so stable while dancing to hardest choreography.His breath control is out of this world. >Jimin » lead vocalist , natural singing voice is high pitch ,he can easily do highnotes, sometimes his voice is raspy. His voice is higher than Mt Everest lol. >Taehyung»lead vocalist , natural singing voice is deep , but he can do highnotes , his voice is deeper than ocean. >Jin» lead vocalist , natural singing voice is in middle range and can do highnotes , his voice is sweet like honey. From vocal line in producing and composing songs Jungkook and taehyung are very good. In songwriting they all are good Jk , jimin , V , jin and improved so much.

Yes. Since their debut, they sang what’s in their minds. Bang PD asked BTS two things when they form BTS; you should make songs which are from your own thoughts and contribute the positive affect to the world. Surely, they’ve been keeping their jobs since day one till now.

Even their pre-debut songs were about school system problems, self-belief and bullying. I mean, they were teenagers themselves. It's funny how a 2013 song geared to high school students still hits hard, even for people on their 30s, 40s, whatever age.

You also need to know that some of their past and future songs are linked in terms of what they didn't have in the past, the haters, the bad interviews, being teased on live TV and self hate they sing about all these things and in their future songs they learn to accept that there will always be someone discriminate them and they also learned to accept themselves

7:38 The word you are looking for is "growth". :) That's what happened to them through the last 7 years. Unlike what you suppose though, this was probably the time where they had the least saying in their styles. lol

Yeah, they always had great lyrics. That's one of the reasons why I love them and their songs, old or new. You know, after you'll react to most of the older MVs, you should watch "we are buletproof: the eternal" again, the animation is based on their old MVs including this one and it's another layer of emotions. :)
@Strawberries19944 жыл бұрын
Their first song, and already going against the strict korean study system. In korea parents and the society putt so much pressure in young kids to be a professional with a degree, if you don't have minimum a school diploma, you're less than nothing(well this happen in all the world too) So the youngs grow up with out big dreams, just focus on study wherever career is imposed to them(doctor, lawyer, engineer, etc), in get a house and a car, and that's what society calls "happines". If you see "N.O." the message is more clear. It's really impresive that their first song was that political and not just a catchy song to attract people, I think is thanks to the freedom that they have in their songs. back then they didn't have much control over their styles(they needed to stand up among others haha, so they start with strong concept characters) but you would see through the videos how they started developing their own styles and had more freedom with that too.
@Honey-je4pr4 жыл бұрын
I love this being their debut song. To me, it still stands out as the song that "defines" Bts the most. They have always been a voice of our generation (and I'm older than them, lol), questioning why we MUST do things a certain way. They encourage us to be true to ourselves and to pursue our dreams - from debut until now. I will always be an Army because of songs and messages like this!

Okay Okay last comment because I’ve been ranting under your videos, but if I could ask something of you? We’ve been having troubles with color coded lyric videos because some of them (more specifically jaeguchi) are stealing from BTS/ Big Hit by cheating the system and claiming copyright on BTS’ music and monetizing their content. I don’t know who else apart from the aforementioned channel is doing this, but most of them tend to be incorrect anyway because they mistranslate or don’t assign the correct lines to the members. These type of videos are usually rushed as soon as the song drops so they don’t care about accuracy, but about views. One of our fanbases is working on creating a channel with more accurate translations to solve this issue, but until that is created, the most trusted site within our fandom for lyric translations remains doolset (doolsetbangtan.wordpress.com). Not only do they provide accurate translations, but they also add notes related to the wordplay in BTS’ music, because if there is one thing that you will learn is that BTS (more notably RM) are genius lyricists who often add wordplay upon wordplay to their music. To every line that impresses you in their songs, trust me, there are two to three deeper, hidden meanings that you missed. If doolset is not a comfortable site for you to use for your translations, the only channel that I trust for color coded translations is af taehyung, so you could also check them out.
@ErikaCartet4 жыл бұрын
i want to second the doolsetbangtan @ wordpress recommendation, even if the lyric videos have fantastic translations (which most do not), the way they are formatted doesn't give a lot of room to explain certain korean wordplay and double entendres, or to provide context for some cultural or literary references etc that will help in your understanding of the lyrics and their message. you don't have to check out doolset with each and every song, but if there are ever lyrics you're not quite clear on or you feel there was something you missed or didn't fully understand, i'd recommend taking a second look at the translation there.
@ORUL82oo4 жыл бұрын
agree 👍. it’s interesting because we have more reactors than ever actually digging into the lyrics, which is a good thing, but the next step is more accurate translations (and countering all the problems you mentioned above).

Thats what we call BTS genre... They are not a hip hop... not a pop... not a ballad... not EDM... not a Kpop... etc... Watching their MVs in order is like we watch a movies in series... We can see how they grow up since debut till now... Just like a journey of the life... From teen... youth... and finally become an adult... In conclusion... Artist : BTS Music genre : BTS (themselves) Bang PD said before they debut that they have to make a music that is coming from their own mind and thought and heart. (I forget what the detail speech but the point is like that), thats way their musics feel so different than the others... They already have a mission since the beginning... And they have a clear messages to spread with their lyrics... The messages is so clear even tho I don't read the translation first... and after I read it, it makes me more realize how thoughtful they are... (^_^)

No More dream is Actually Their Debut Song also: *Bang Shi hyuk (who owns/created their Company Bighit & put BTS together), He has always given BTS freedom for BTS to write their own stories into songs to help others, his whole goal was for BTS to someday completely write and produce make an album COMPLETELY on their own, which they are finally doing this year they are currently working on their album completely made by them....pretty much every song BTS has put out has had their name in the credits, after working mooore than 7 years with professionals as a team, they're Finally ready to put all their knowledge and experience from over the years to their very own album with no other names attached to it..that was always Bangs goal and I'm so proud to see all their hardwork prosper, I can't wait to see what BTS will come up with in their creative freedom 💜*

You are correct! Every song in the album is carefully chosen so you don’t skip a song. I literally love every song cuz it’s so diverse and just hits you in different ways. The album series tells a big picture story but each song can stand on its own!

You are very correct they studied the hip hop era of the 90s before they started so for about 3 yrs (excluding Jimin - his training was about 6 mo) so they started in the thing they did best but they realized that they were more than a hip hop group because of their potential to dance and sing so well. and no that was Jimin in the background doing the yea yea. But they did some great hip hop videos to begin with. The baby Jungkook can rap fast but sings like a lark so singing was what he does, he is the main vocalist but misses his rapping days sometimes but they don't want him to get to worn out during concerts so they stopped him from rapping. Bang Shi Hyuk the Director/Producer/father of BTS told the boys in the beginning to write songs about how they felt about school, life, and their dreams and then helped them produce songs that reflected their feelings. Most Korean parents (especially Suga's) wanted them to go to school and then university where then they can sit for the civil exam test and become government officials to make big money. But this song is about the dreams that most kids have to work hard to suppress, don't tell parents, because that will make them sad or even mad. Jin and J-Hope at the end of their first concert at Sky Dome in Seoul both said that they could now look at their parents because now their parents would be proud of having sons like them, Suga bowed down to the floor and cried at seeing his parents in the audience.

💜They were so young! Their first 3 albums were about schools and adolescent hardships. Baby jungkook rapping and the vocal line getting their hip hop persona on. Big hit actually gave them a lot of support and leeway to sing the songs about Korean strict school system. N.O. should be one of the next videos to watch. They were able to send a message out to the youth to pursue your dreams. As they grew up, the music matured and they stepped back from being a hip hop group and let all the 7 boys talent shine. Army supported them from the beginning. Love your reactions. I know its hard to put into words the feelings you get from BTS lyrics and music, but ARMY understands. We all feel like these boys are a once in a lifetime gift. 💜💜

Hi, is exactly as you say BTS discography is impressive and is not just the size , is the fact that you would never get bored. Also as RM once said " I want to make music that gets better the more you listen to it" and I feel like he has achieved that . I like some songs more than others but all their songs are good. As always you nice,keep going. 😘💜

I never get tired of listening to their older songs. my BTS spotify playlist is in no order whatsoever. I have their whole library. about 200 songs, that doesn't count the mixtapes. One reason I love their music is, since I am an older ARMY, I love that they actually have something to say in the lyrics. I became so disenchanted with American music, then I finally listened to my daughter and discovered BTS and Kpop. I couldnt help but smile when you looked at the camera because of the lyrics. You have such an adventure ahead of you. Love it! Appreciate you!!

I love them. Tommorow is a song that got me through a tough time and made me an army. And so far away from the first agust D had suga as my bias wrecker. WINGS ALBUM was not only a grammy but an oscar worthy album. 19 out of 20 songs on their latest album has writing credits of the members as well as most as coproducers. They are currently working on an album entirely written and produced by the members. These guys are literal GENIUSES.

BTS's discography is quite diverse in the genres and types of music they cover. They once said that they use whatever suits the message and the feeling the best (not an exact quote). They started off more hip-hop and then branched out to various other genres and styles. They debuted in 2013 but they've been together longer. RM was the first to become part of the group in 2010 and Suga joined not long after. J-Hope and Jin also joined somewhere in 2010, so they've been together for 10 years. Jungkook and V joined in 2011. Jimin was the last to join in 2012, so 8 years is the least amount of time they've been together. It was actually Jimin in the background for this one and Jungkook is a sub-rapper but he doesn't really rap anymore. The lyrics are colour coded to the names, but also the picture of the person who is singing will also be in colour instead of black and white. Be cautious with these colour-coded lyric videos, they're not always accurate in translation or which member is singing when. They've always had meaningful lyrics. Obviously there are the songs that aren't so deep but usually their lyrics have meaning, and usually at least one track per album that deals with a social issue.

This song was inspired by RM past childhood, when he feel empty because he didnt have any dream. What he knows only study n study. But luckily, his father encourage him, if he didnt have any dream, just study hard as he can rn. So when he already know what his dream is, he is already prepare himself early from now n it will help him in the future for whatever he will decide for he want to be. RM very thankful because of that, because his knowledge that he gained from his past study so hard, now is helping him to write a clever lyrics.

As you can imagine, and from what I’m sure you may know being part korean and from seeing things in the media, there is an element in the societies in the countries of Asia (not just Korea) whereby a strict school education is needed to be successful in the future. Society tells parents to push their children towards the career path of doctors, law and order, engineers. And for the most part, parents do, and it makes for a lot of unhappy children. BTS recognised then and still recognise now (note; Suga/Agust D/Yoongi faced a lot of hard hard times with his parents over this very thing and it was a contributing factor to his poor mental health) that whilst getting an education is a good thing; it should not be forced down the throats of children, there shouldn’t be a harsh pressure to be the best of the best. It’s what a lot of their earlier discography is about: the, some would say ‘corrupt’, schooling system, young people needing to find their own dreams, and knowing that not having a dream straight away is okay.

Little late here with the comments and just started watching your reactions but I gotta say, I really enjoy them. As a baby ARMY get for a very emotional ride. BTS can make you smile, laugh, scream, cry all in one video or one performance! I really hope you keep reacting to the older songs/videos and work your way forward so you can see how they change and grow, its one amazing journey! Along the way take the time to watch the dance practices, the Run BTS episodes, the Bonvoyage series, you will be amazed at some of the things these boys get themselves into!! You will also see just how much these 7 human beings love and respect each other and how much they need each other. That is one of the reasons ARMY loves them and one of the reasons they love ARMY! When they are together they are stronger and when they are apart they are the first to say they miss and need the others. They are more than just 7 members of a group they are family and it shows. Thank you for taking the time to learn about them and giving them the respect they deserve!

I would say it was pretty gutsy for BTS to be rapping/singing about these things from the get go. I remember seeing this one dude reacting to more recent BTS songs (he was amazed btw, sorry I don’t remember his name) said he listened to k-pop back then and said he remembered BTS starting out because they were so different from the others. He thought they were so cool and was excited about them, but after a year somehow he got distracted by new acts coming out that he had forgotten about them. I wasn’t there back then, but based off what I’ve learned (and keep learning for over a year), I would suspect that may have been due to the lack of screen time they were given (from cut and shortened broadcasts) could be one of the factors. If that is true, I guess the affluent/powerful agencies that ruled the industry did their job in taking the spotlight off of the undeniable “it” factor rookies from a nobody company. I am always open to hear what original ARMYs have to share from what they remember happened back then.

they're such babies in this one, it's crazy to see the difference when you look at them now! i think you'll also like no! which has some similar themes and an incredible dance break. they've had meaningful lyrics since even before their debut, back when they were trainees the rap line put out a song about toxic school culture and the way so many kids are mistreated. when it comes to school funding in the us, one of the biggest problems is that the funding is tied to property tax, so areas with high property values have more money to give to the schools. it's one of the major ways that generational wealth gaps are perpetuated.

Yeah.... they literally came out with a serious message and desire to make a difference. I personally believe it's one of the main reasons they've been so persecuted. Anyone who tries to change the paradigm must be stopped, right? It's taken a long time, but the beacons of light are shinning brightly in this darkness. As our captain boldly said, "The World is Gonna Change..."- RM (And, shout out to Wale.)

@19:18 - Esco, you were RIGHT!! . SINCE THEIR DEBUT, these guys had had meaningful lyrics. They have planned it. They have planned to voice their concerns about many social issues even since the earlier songs of their debut. . One interesting fact: One youtube video reveals the fact that Suga, RM, and Jin once gathered and discussed their concerns as they watched a TV documentary exposing the reality of school violence in Korea. And this discussion happened even before their debut!! Then, they tried to voice these concerns and decided to apply these into their debut songs. . They were not afraid to get into such a controversial topic and had balls to speak their mind, or even to write songs about it. Again, this happened even before their debut!! From a business standpoint, for sure this would have easily jeopardized their first debut and career. . Another example of how they are brave enough to speak up is when they produced a song called SPRING DAY, the Queen of all songs, EVER! Many people have a strong interpretation that this song essentially talks about the Sewol Ferry Tragedy (you may easily find in google about this painful tragedy). Although we never got any confirmation from BTS or Bighit whether this song officially relates to the tragedy or not, my point is that BTS had balls to release the song during the time period that this issue was still politically sensitive and controversial, thus easily risking their career. . So, IMHO, they are not (K)Pop singers. They are social messengers.

RM was signed first (2009/2010), Jimin then came as the very last one (2012) and he said himself that his trainee time was really hard and stressful on him, as he had the least amount of time to develop his skills and almost didn’t make it to debut; they even joke about it with J-Hope to this day (them being close to get kicked out of their training program on a few occasions). Watching live stages of their songs is an absolute must so you can see what they are truly capable of. 💜💜💜 You could combine a MV + color coded + live of the same song😊 There is “ We are bullet proof, pt.1” too btw, and you can hear it together with “We are bullet proof, pt.2” as a live performance!!! An absolute gem, because you can hear them all rap in it which is an incredibly rare occasion.

Love your in depth reactions and your attention to detail. It warms up my heart to see new ARMYs really take the time to soak in their messages. Enjoy the journey. It's a blast! Also, quick note for the color coded lyrics, whenever one of the members sings / raps, their picture also lights up (not just their written name). So you can look at the picture as well to see who it is. Altho there are times when they're not 100% accurate but as a guideline it works

Bang PD wanted them to honestly express how it felt be young in today's South Korea, he wanted to give the young people a voice. They always say their goal was to give hope to young people, to give them a voice. But their songs speak to all ages, all cultures. They inspire me, in my 50s to keep fighting, keep dreaming, keep being the best ME that I can be. To make the changes from within first, then change the world.

12:21 The most amazing things for me is they always give me surprise in their non-title songs of each album. And their albums are not bloated at all. There is no such song makes you feel the song is used to make up the number . So if you have extra time, you can try to listen to a random albums especially the old albums. They've tried many new things in their albums so there must be some songs which are not your taste but you still feel they put many effort in it. For me, WINGS era is not quite for my taste, however, it is the most impressive album for me. Really really impressive.

BTS are true album artists with no skips. Their diversity & quality in their music from the very beginning is what makes them stand out. It's really worthwhile for any ARMY to go listen through all of their albums and read the translations. It's amazing to see their growth too, musically & lyrically as you go through eras. I'd like to recommend two introduction videos; Crash Course 2020 (warning: there's spoilers/snippets of many songs) and BTS's contribution to music. Also just note that color-coded videos aren't always accurate, so just use them as a rough guide to get the gist of the meaning. Thanks for the video and hope you're enjoying everything BTS! :)

Thank you for your great reaction! BTS was supposed to debut as a hip hop group. Among the trainees for consideration under BTS' lineup are RM, Suga, Supreme Boi & Jhope. Jhope was recruited as a vocalist/dancer. He learned to rap from RM so he won't be out of place among the great rap trainees. But BigHit decided to change the concept to an IDOL group. Huge turnaround. RM, Supreme Boi stayed. Suga agreed to stay after he was scamed in the con of the century to stay (Bang PD, the boss of BigHit convinced Suga that he only need to rap & not do much dancing *hahahaha*). Anyway BigHit started recruiting more trainees. V was recruited as a rapper but after he got in, he confessed that he wanted to sing, so Jhope swopped position with him & continued his training in rap. Jin was recruited as Visual (a member with the most outstanding looksa good looks). Jungkook as rappervocalist & Jimin as vocalist/dancer. Supreme Boi quit soon after the team selection was made (the first BTS group photo feature 8 members) but stayed as a producer. BTS continued training with 7 members, did promo as 7 members & debuted as 7 members and as an IDOL group. RM & Suga received much hate for being in an idol group because they have to put on makeup & because the rap by idol groups are regarded as fake raps by the hip hop people. However many early sound of BTS is heavily influenced by hip hop, like this song (which in all honesty isn't pure hip hop). But not all their songs are hip hop heavy. If you go through their discography, their sound have been diverse right from the start. And BTS doesn't have an official visual position anymore. They grew up from nerdy teens into hot young men, all of them are now visuals 😅.

The voice in the background is actually Jimin. Fun fact about this MV or anytime they did this choreo, Jimin is always ashamed whenever they watch back certain performances or moments about the shirt pull up he did. Jimin grew so much like as a person, if you watch back older moments and compare them to now. It's crazy. They performed this song a lot last year and I think ARMY really enjoyed it. This month is the month I come back to this song, every year again. Glad you reacted to this :)

It's honestly been so fun seeing you explore BTS, especially their older stuff. They are so versatile and can honestly pull off any genre, I can't wait till you start exploring the B-sides on their albums because they have a massive discography. I did want to give a bit of a disclaimer regarding lyrics videos though, often time they are put up rushed and the translations can often be inaccurate or just bare minimum without really providing the context behind certain Korean lyrics and their meaning. Not only that but recently it came out that a very popular lyric vid channel called Jaeguchi is somehow monetizing their BTS Lyric videos and is making money off of BTS's music which they shouldn't be able to do but somehow they are cheating the system, recommend avoiding them at all cost. Instead, I would recommend following ARMY(fan) translators who put so much time and effort (for free) into making sure translations are correct. You can find many translators on twitter I recommend BTSARMY_Salon, BOMHARU1230, modooborahae, choi_bts2, and doolsetbangtan. Doolsetbangtan actually has a blog where they have translations for all of BTS's Ablums and solo projects and they do a fantastic job of not only translating accurately but explaining things that may not translate correctly into English or things that may not make sense unless you actually know Korean. Doolsetbangtan's website: doolsetbangtan.wordpress.com/bts-albums/ Also here is a Spotify playlist of BTS's entire discography (including their Japanese albums) in order from oldest to newest, it's nice having everything in one area as a reference. BTS A-Z: open.spotify.com/playlist/5K6WYCgxTwsdgrSW8PCYJr?si=cegg6qwLQHqaiCe4qe9U-A Lastly, I just want to warn you that recently BTS has been the target of very intentional attacks meant to defame. This is largely because Bighit is set to release their IPO soon and it's expected that their stocks will be more valuable than the other major entertainment companies in Korea. This has made BTS the target of many defamatory attacks in the past couple of months with the intent of devaluing Bighit and decreasing their stock value. So if you see anything controversial or negative pop up please take it with a grain of salt and wait for any conformation or information from Bighit directly regarding any issues. The best thing I can recommend is just delving into BTS on your own as you are currently doing. Don't listen to outside sources, especially if they are western media/journalists or people trying to get a reaction by posting inflammatory stuff regarding BTS. Listen to BTS's music, look at the message they are trying to send, watch behind the scenes clips, RUN BTS, the documentaries and docuseries, their speeches, how they have learned and grown as human beings, and their livestreams and allow their content to help shape your opinion of who they are as individuals rather than believing a random individual on twitter crying wolf. I know that you likely won't believe random BS you see online but unfortunately many in the fandom have fallen prey to these "haters" or "antis" and believe or allow themselves to be swayed by defamatory statements.
