This MV was based on the mythical Greek story of Pygmalion who was a sculptor. He made a sculptor of a woman whom he named Galatea who was so pretty & lifelike he fell in love with her. In the story Aphrodite the Goddess of Love decided to make her real because she saw how much in love Pygmalion was with her. The twist in this video is at the end when V {red Jacket) realized he was also a statue brought to life by his creator, V(black jacket). The acting by V is superb, I know many Korean directors will be vying for him when he gets discharged. Park Hyo Shin & V are close friends in real life, a lot of people don't know when his singing part comes on, because his voice is similar to V's. If you want to see the 2 perform this song together, Hybe just released the official MV with V & Park sitting in a restaurant while singing this song.

Not many are pointing out the last scene where V is wearing a white shimmery top. This may symbolize him being free from darkness (vs V in menacing black jacket) nor passing life (vs V in red jacket/cardigan). It’s just himself in the end, glistening in paradise.

Check out the Greek myth of sculpture Pygmalion. He sculpted a woman he named Galatea. He fell in love with her. Question: How many sculptures were in the MV? Who all was dressed in white? He animated all his sculptures to be his friends and celebrate him. Then reality walks in with realistic hard walking steps. They can't go unnoticed. End scene, he is all alone. Look at his face. His slumping body. The life of a sculpture artist is very lonely. They spend their whole life with inanimate objects. Reality set in at the end of this MV. In winter, everything dies. So he is facing the Winter Ahead in reality. Is it a sad ending? I don't think so. I think he faced his reality. Like we all have to do. He is no longer living his life in pretend. He walks off literally shining. He has learned his lesson. Remember V was crying, then he smiled. He got it. at that moment.The end emotion of the "dark" V also had a hint of a smile. Not hating or belittling the other V. But recognizing he "got it." And was happy he came out of his illusion. My theory. What is yours?

Or he could be a loner, seeking to live/happiness but doesn’t know how. This desire breathed life to his creation. Thus, when the V statue came to life, he also desired to be with someone and created a female statue and breathed life to her. The V sculpture lived the life, ie, going around, feeling the wind, being awed by other lives (like the butterfly), dancing, partying, celebrating, loving a girl. But that will end as he faced his creator later and realized he was not real, thus the heartbreaking sadness and acceptance in V’s eyes in the last scene. This is when you see the girl disappearing and even his face in the mirror partly turning into stone. The sculptor V is bloodied. This may represent his own brokenness, or relate to the scene where he was angry and frustrated and took such anger on his scuplture of V thus scraping that part of his face under his eye, and breaking him. It can also be theorized that when sculptor V broke the V statue, this instead gave life to the statue while the sculptor sustained the brokenness or injuries, sort of opposite effect. Or these could all just be a part of the sculptor’s dreams. Teaser 1 represents the darkness in his life. Teaser 2 is his daydream of a happier life, although it will end like any other dream, and he will go back to reality. Also the dark jacket and heavy footsteps may represent the darkness in the sculptor’s life, while the red jacket and whitish colors may symbolize life and lightness. For me there are both biblical and mythological elements in the storyline.

Your point is well taken about this MV is deserving of recognition as a Masterful Masterpiece. There is a little secret V has kept hidden, but not completely. He has hinted about this before, but you had to listen closely when he gave out hints and even showed us hints. Much of his talent is God-given. But you may not know V has been training as hard as an Olympic athlete to be at top of his craft. I have specifically seen the room he trained in. You can see it too if you have seen every clip of every video V has ever been in. Since my specialty is Musical Theatre, I identified V's little secret immediately. This genre is so special and has so many identifiable properties not shown in any other genres. V knows this genre in detail. From top to bottom. His touch on this video is apparent. I am so proud he was given the chance to shine. BTS doing solo work allowed it. You were talking about OT7. Here is why BTS is unique and no other KPop group possesses this uniqueness. Every member is so amazingly talented that they could quit BTS and pursue their solo career all by themselves never needing BTS to achieve Worldwide recognition and greatness. No other group has individual talent like BTS does. But we know the Truth. They all are absolutely 100% committed to returning to BTS to begin Chapter 2. What a Chapter it will be!! I have no doubt Chapter 2 will include all the guys continuing to do solo work. Just not at the same pace. You can't hold back this greatness. I do feel the group will do a Christmas album someday. Or each guy will put out their own Christmas album! We have that to look forward to. Let me know if you want me to share V's secret.

It's ok to praise V's uniqueness and artistry. His visionary and creativity deserves to be praised. Doing the music he is doing being a Kpop artist is bold. He is definitely that one member. During layover era I remember how critics said his album was breaking stereotypes, silencing commercialism, going beyond the numbers etc. And that is what you call breaking boundaries and real impact. I love that he keeps going on his own path and at his own pace :) Staying true to himself (and still being super successful at that, it'is crazy) Please react to the MV shoot sketch (1 behind the scene for both MV), it's amazing to see how involved he is in the directing. So creative. And well his acting is off the chart, no wonder he is on high demand in SK. Hope he will be able to act in the futur. A little comment for the second MV, I think it's a classic stetting for jazz duet. Both artist will sing to each other like having an actual conversation. A great idea for lyrics video.

Many Kim taehyung fans believe he is beyond kpop at this point. And people should not think any less of you or the other members when you admire and give the proper laurels to Tae. I see a lot of similarity to the Slow Dancing MV where he creates this imaginary world because he is longing for love and happiness. SD was obviously a summer atmosphere and this is winter but did anyone notice the butterfly present in both? Anyhow, bravo to V to this magnificent work with Hyo Shin. Winter Ahead holds the biggest debut for a jazz song in spotify history 🔥🔥SHE was HIM 😭 the sculpture was him!!! KIM TAEHYUNG'S MUSIC isn't just simply music, it's a whole fxcking novel! crying with tears in his eyes is art and he did it effortlessly!! The same mark on taehyung , woman & the sculpture showcasing how he conjured up everything ,The dark persona reminiscent of this fact And what stood out to me most was how perfectly Taehyung emoted the moment of realisation . Just brilliant !! the moment when realization hits taehyung. none of it was real. a fantasy inside a fantasy, dreamt up by a solitary artist who confronts himself at the end. and as he cries, he also smiles. because even if false, his dreams were still so very beautiful. and he was so happy. the version in front of him bleeds from a cracked head and we see glimpses of cracked sculpture heads in his workshop. this too is him then. both are him. none more real than the other. the cynic and the romantic. the darkness and the light.

I love your reactions. You give much thought on the subjects you react on, and you are not afraid to express your honest opinions even if they may raise controversies. But I totally agree, V has been quite a visionary as shown in his projects. He has also been bold in going against the grain with his kind of music and artistry. By staying true to himself, he is able to show sincerity in his work, and that is felt by his audience.

🫶🏽🎵TAE and Park Hyo Shin did magic in the song, their voices sound impeccable, it's a beautiful song to always listen to! We definitely need V acting, theater, cinema, whatever he wants. You have to see the behind the scenes of the MV recording, it came out today, V is sensational, he could become a good director, he is attentive to all the details, And he's such a sweetheart to the whole team. I love V's music, I need more V music! All the boys are fantastic, and great artists!They have all made albums and MVs that are on another level of perfection, because they are very Very meticulous in their work!! Thanks guys for your reaction and theory. Park Hyo Shin is one of the top tier vocalists in Korea. He is a ballad singer and musical theater Artist. He and V are great friends and have worked together before. You should react to the “behind the scenes” video on both MV’s. You can see how much they both contributed to making the MV’s as well as V, the director. This song and musical MV from V is a masterpiece. His MV’s and storytelling are deep and he makes you do some deep thinking. In the musical video, the red jacket V comes to realize and accepts his fate as he was sculpted by the black jacket V, the real Sculptor. The Sculptor being sad and lonely created all the sculptors portrayed by everyone in white clothing. V, the sculpture, in his dream world created his happiness only to have the Sculptor tear it down after Red Jacket V made a wish and blew out the candles.

V is deinitely an old soul that's beautiull. Love this song! I picture it as Tae creating V, the persona. Him walking and dancing by himself, in the theater (the performer), walking with a teddy bear (the child in him) the dancing crowd (those who influenced him).. And in the end, he discovers "paradise" when he finally sees his creation of V and somewhat accepts it that it's definitely a part of him. Still just my thought. Winter is Tae's favorite season and, through it all, when winter comes, he still feels warmth even in the cold because he knows he will always have his creation with him. his creation is "dark" because of all the trials and pain" he as endured. So the girl is also a part of him, his many facets of his persona. Truly a masterpiece!

V was inspired by the movie about time (which was about time travel, wanting to go back in time) when he made Winter Bear. V made this MV in 2022 so he knew the storyline and he put in Easter eggs and hints in his songs after 2022 like Rainy days, Slow Dancing and Fri(end)s. A sculptor in Rainy Days, multiple V’s and a virtual world in Slow Dancing. In Fri(ends), two parallel universes with the inception moment at the end of V and Tae meeting just like in Winter ahead. He has created a VU and cleverly played the it out by making a storyline mv in 2022 (Winter Ahead) then seeding Rainy Days, Slow Dancing and Fri(end)s with hints. Songs that came after Winter Ahead in creation only to come full circle to the Winter Ahead mv for it to connect. V inspires critical thinking on steroids with his thought provoking art.

V is playing a part of Pygmalion from Greek mythology. He was a human sculpture. He fell in love with his sculpture an a goddess made her alive for him. He married the girl/sculpture. The V without a blood is a sculpture too. That's why when he meets his creator he seems sad, cause he realizes his a sculpture (the x on his neck and the girl neck) but then accepts his fate and smiles. I don't fully understand but he clearly shows a connection between artist and his creation.

V, the girl and the rest are all sculptured by the real V who appeared in the last video, all sculptured turned alive, he created a perfect world he dreamed of however they all left him alone and live on their own, the real V realize it and destroy all of the sculpture. Just my theory.

Taehyung was a sculptor who lived alone and his art was so great that the sculptures had souls and he created people in this world who had a white essence. But when he was born, he saw a black essence in this whiteness that he had not created himself. At the end of the music video, he stood in front of Taehyung and Taehyung realized that he had created the creator of the blackness himself and that he was not the creator. The essence of both whiteness and blackness is a much bigger creation and that was why he cried at the end of the music video. He understood that whiteness and blackness only think that they create the world around them. But they were not just statues, that human and animal souls had been created inside them. This is what I took from the content of the music video.

Totally agree. Even something simple like Winter Bear is a triumph of art. V has a way of taking film and sounds - like background iPhone text beep or sounds of voices at a restaurant or whatever - and adding these beautiful instrumentals to them, and you are already absorbed. And THEN he hits you with his voice and you completely transcend space and time and you are not released until the end. And I think it's his own love for all those details where he doesn't care if he sings for 30 seconds and plays a saxophone for the next 2 minutes with NO vocals; or whatever. He takes things into a direction of a unique vision instead of staying with the latest trend. And that makes his work captivating and desirable because you know you won't see someone trying to be the best at the latest trend. You will see someone starting a trend you didn't know existed.

Inspired by the story of Pygmalion who disdains the world and lives only for his art. He creates a statute of the woman and loves that sculpture so much he wished it was alive. Aphrodite grants him his wish and brings the statute to life. Tae adds his twist to this and at the end the creator comes face to face with his creation. The ‘creation’ (red jacket V) comes to realise that he is looking at his creator. He expresses the realisation that he is actually the statute living in the ‘paradise’ where he thought he was the creator of the female statue. This is seen by him touching the mark on his neck which is the same as the one on the female sculpture. The creator (Black Jacket V) expresses that as the actual creator the ‘paradise’ belongs to him. Tae inspires critical thinking with his are allowing for multiple theories to coexists in his artistic story telling. And he always gives a masterclass in acting. I see a running theme now of our duality king. Two V’s ending MV’s, first in the friend’s MV and now this mv. V vs Kim Taehyung, Tiger vs Bear, he has told us he has his stage persona V the tiger and he is Kim Taehyung the bear in his normal life. I’m wondering based on the timeline of the song releases if the 2 V’s in the Friend’s MV at the end was a teaser for the ending in this mv. He made winter ahead 2 years ago so he knew the storyline before he made slow dancing and friends so dropped the Easter eggs in those mv to tease us. BTS are known to tease the next mv at end of songs. Kim Taehyung’s Duality storyline in his own VU (V universe) - C-Coffee, Friends and Winter Ahead, not to forget the multiple V’s in Slow Dancing…to be continued?, I wonder? Who knows. Only V! This man should act and direct movies. He really should be the creative director for the group MV’s. He’s so talented, creative and artistic. I hope he gets a chance to continue to develop his artistic visions in the future. Kim Taehyung has officially left kpop and is a bonafide artist now.

I don't have words to describe this masterpiece that Taehyung has made.! He sculpted a woman, embodying his softness, kindness, and innocence. This creation led him to a realization: it wasn't about the woman but about his own self. Ultimately, he found peace in his reality.! I remember RM saying in one of their BE-hind stories: "Kim Taehyung the man who rejects what's normal" and this really shows how unique he is.. His voice is like slow waves washing down the seashore, it's so calm yet deep
