It still cracks me up that BTS put 15 year old Jungkook on stage screaming the name’s Jungkook, the scale is nationwide. They knew even then. I know they didn’t know if they would succeed & certainly didn’t know they would reach the level they have back then but they knew they made good music. I love that they were confident in their music from the beginning.

Blood Sweat & Tears is definitely something they should look at. Not only is it one of their best songs lyrically, aesthetically and choreography-wise the fact that it was based on a book and incorporates the whole essence of the book in just 5 minutes just makes it one of their most well thought out songs ever. (The book is Demian By Hermann Hesse and it's actually a pretty good read about the contemplation of life. Made me think a lot)

They (hip hop artists who made fun of them) said it’s impossible. To be an idol and a true hip hop artist. RM and Suga received so much backlash/hatred for that. So he placed a period on that thought/idea. Because he says, I’m possible!” , meaning he can make being BOTH possible! Both he and Suga can. And not only did they make it possible, they are incredible at it, and have long surpassed all the haters. 💜
@saraholadiran70052 жыл бұрын
And the double entendre and play on words there: In impossible, after " I and m" pause before you pronounce the rest of the word "possible" then it becomes "I'm possible" and The fact that idols are not taken seriously and Idols can't get acknowledgment as real artists at the time, he said he will make that "possible" (which they did)

It's ironic really, Supreme Boi was part of the original line up for BTS (see We Are Bulletproof Part 1 again) and moved into the production side, while Suga - who originally wanted to be a rapper and producer - became the second (and core) member of the final lineup of BTS. Though Supreme Boi is still an integral part of the team; just behind the scenes. But let's be honest BTS would not be BTS with any other lineup. They are where they are, because of WHO they are. Because of the combination of members. Because of their synergy. Their unique compatibility. The magic that is the 7. Borahae 💜
@tifadreamers2 жыл бұрын
So true. BTS would not be BTS with any other lineup. I think Supreme Boi mentioned somewhere that he had a change of heart after BTS was starting to be formed as the current seven member lineup. But I personally think that it also has something to do with Iron stepping aside and BTS gravitating to idol scene

This is just my own opinion after years of seeing BTS and the industry they've grown into: they say "mere idol" because in South Korea, idols are seen as perfect humans, basically puppets. Idols are defined as a celebrity but with a lack of creative input, most of the time just given songs to perform and attract a fanbase for a few years and then fade into obscurity, but never seen as true artists. And tbh, it is true many times because the agencies that sign them, restrict them heavily. It depends on the agency, but some agencies restrict idols so much, it's like they think they're managing an object, not a person. Agencies can even restrict an idol from dating, from contributing in their music, and even have a food quota for diets and activities. I believe you will discover more of this in the Rise of Bangtan if you choose to watch it (and how BTS have changed the meaning of "idol") 😉🤗 but yeah, I do believe RM mentioned this because he's saying it's ironic a "mere idol", someone they look down upon (especially those from the hiphop scene in S.Korea, as seen in the BTS hardships video) is stating this message in WAB pt2. Hope I explained myself clearly because my first language is not english 😅💜. Love your videos guys, thank you for getting deep into BTS's lyricism and artistry. :) LMAO THE WAY YOU'RE FIGHTING FOR YOUR LIFE TO SEE THE HAT SCENE 😂😂😂🤣🤣🤣 I relate so much 😂😂

guys, a lil trivia. idol is a term used for members of a kpop group. idols are generally looked down by other artists in genres like k-hiphop because idol music is stigmatized as manufactured music. hence, rm saying "mere idol" but he gives those underground hip hop haters a better worldplay. by putting a period on the "impossible," rm put an apostrophe and then it's now "i'm possible." as for bighit, there's been an ongoing joke among older armys that bighit planned everything in the 1800s. because bts could be performing for a year end music show and they'd already be dropping hints for the album that'd come out half a year or a year later. lol

Originally, Bangtan was supposed to debut with different members including RM & Suga as a hip-hop group. But because Bighit changed the project and wanted them to debut as a hip-hop IDOL group that involves choreography some members didn't agree with the change and left Bighit. But Supreme Boi stayed and decided to work as a producer instead. You can see RM & Suga complaining in Rise of Bangtan that they originally didn't expect to dance. At that time, there were hip-hop groups but the idea of an IDOL hip-hop group was new. And that is why BTS was mocked for in their early days. So you can say they wanted to express their commitment in this song to strive for their dreams no matter what the others say or mock about them. But at the same time RM who came from an underground background was troubled with his identity being an idol up to a certain point.

This comment is for the 41:00 mark.That is what makes them keep it tight and get it together. Nobody wants to be the one that makes the their other teammates have to do it over and over again. Talk about being your brother’s keeper and being accountable and taking accountability by practicing. Shoot, BTS was a force to be reckoned with the minute they signed on to BigHit. Now we are always talking about the seven members but without that incredible team of people behind them they would become like to many groups of old that we have here in America. Their label doesn’t hype one member and use the others as glorified backup singers and dancers. They give them the opportunity to grow and make individual projects. They don’t have anyone saying, “they are the voices”. They are all ‘The Voices’. There is no need for anyone to leave the group to grow or be able to put out the music that they want to. I ran across your channel last night where you were reacting to my Bias, J-Hope at Lalapalooza and I had to stay for P.O.P. , my favorite song from him. Of course I couldn’t stop there and ended up watching the whole concert and three more of your other videos on BTS. Since I was on my iPad today instead of my smart TV I had to comment.Thank you guys for taking the initiative to search things for yourselves instead of asking the audience everything when you are on the internet and have the information right there. I fell down the rabbit hole in May 2018 with Dionysus and was stuck there for about two and a half years. Also, BTS has so so much great music, but they are not the only KPop Artis out there putting out good music so don’t get stuck, venture out there and broaden your playlist. Good luck with your channel.

Yes, it's true that initially the group consisted of three guys. RM, Iron and Supreme Boi. At some point, Iron left and Supreme Boi remained a producer in the company, he still works with BTS on music. Iron made his solo debut after finishing 2nd in a show competition, and then even RM and Iron performed together on the show. At some point, Iron was arrested (it was something to do with drugs), later he was tried for assaulting an ex-girlfriend. Last year, after he came out, after some time he was found lying near the house in a pool of his own blood, he is not alive.

Thinking about the commitment to marginal gains, you are looking at BTS as a whole. However, the reason BTS is so flawless is the fact that those 7 young men ALL made that commitment. Bang PD could have chosen better singers, rappers, and dancers, but he realized that all of the members had to share that same commitment and WORK ETHIC. If even 1 of the members had a different mind set, they would not be BTS. That’s why I believe that BTS is a perfect storm that will never be replicated.

The mere idol comment, I believe is a jab at those in the hip hop industry that looked down on RM because he had to choose between being a "rapper" or "idol". These "hyungs" basically saying RM couldn't make it as a rapper and had to choose to be an idol and RM laughing back like this mere idol made it.
@candykoo61582 жыл бұрын
The plot twist is that the underground "rappers" had told them a true hiphop artist or a rapper cannot be an idol because normally in the kpop industry none writes their songs.. Groups and idols just perform whatever(song) is fed to them.. But bts brought the plot twist, they took part in writing, producing and composing and everything... And even outrapped those people while being an idol. The "mere idol" phrase because they're not like other groups, most idols are chosen on their looks/visuals and then their talent(they got a lot of hate for not "fitting the kpop criteria" too).. They proved themselves to be both hiphop artists and idols.
@Funtan_Sonyeondan2 жыл бұрын
"a mere idol" I think it's because in South Korea, an idol isn't considered as a real artist... you'll see this conflict(?) in their future songs (it's also in Born Singer) but they always have a conclusion that they don't care whether they're an idol or an artist (because they just love music)
@LeylaM0032 жыл бұрын
I loved the idea of patreon, there are movies, BTS run series, bon voyager, the soop and interviews that show a lot of the artistic journey of these boys who only had dreams and talent, showing us with sincerity and teamwork everything is possible, as for the choreography SUGA (Min Yoongi) did them with a bruise on his shoulder where sometimes he couldn't lift a 200ml bottle, and if you look at the performances you almost don't notice that, how can someone have such ability and determination? THEY ARE HUMAN I ask myself sometimes, I'm just proud of them and inspired by my goals.
@amiii52922 жыл бұрын
28:04 My interpretation of that part is that he meant with “mere idol“ himself. Idols are looked upon in South Korea. Especially Suga and RM, who were underground rappers before debuting as BTS, were insulted by “real“ rappers and hip hop artists, because they chose to debut as idols instead of staying in the underground scene. They were told that they aren‘t good real rappers, because they are just idols, and that they won’t make it. They were told that it’s impossible. So RM states that he, as a mere idol, made the impossible possible. It’s a plot twist for those people, who didn’t believe in them. He writes it in a clever way by breaking the word impossible into two words and placing a period by himself in between. With this he shows their haters that HE can make the impossible possible. Your reaction to the hat trick was hilarious! It‘s like a magic trick and I - as a dancer myself - was stunned by the choreography. Kudos to J-Hope for dancing his knees bloody for his dance part. To Jimin as well, because of the great aerial flip over J-Hope. It’s an amazing stunt, because the dancers must have great trust in each other. Also kudos to JK, who shows great dance moves with the hat. I‘m still amazed that JK hasn‘t dropped the hat once on stage! It‘s more difficult to use equipment when dancing. Love your reactions! Keep up the good work!

Watching the dance practice, can we just take a moment to appreciate how good a dancer Suga actually is. He so seldom gets credit for his dancing, which is such a shame. But he and Jimin always draw my eyes during the dance practices. But, to me, Jimin's dance beats everyone.💜 Suga, though, needs far more credit. The Man Can Dance. And these days he enjoys it more.💜

A lot of groups release the dance "practices" because there are a LOT of people (around the world) who participate in "K-Pop Random Dance Play" - dozens to hundreds of people show up, in Asian countries, you could have kids as young as 6 up to adults with ages unknown - and someone brings a speaker. They play around 30-45 seconds of various K-Pop songs. Those who know the dance come out to the middle and do the actual moves. A lot show up "in costume" (the outfit of a favorite member, of their favorite group, from a specific video) or sometimes "teams" will show up in matching gear (like, everyone is in red shirts and white pants or all-black outfits with blue sequins strategically sewn onto the outfit, etc.), but there are also a lot of individuals who just happen to be there at the right time and do the dances in whatever they happen to be wearing. Many colleges/universities now even have "dance clubs" where they specialize in the Random Dance Plays - often practicing in their college's/university's gym. You should look a couple up when you have time between filming...or do a reaction to one. Sometimes they are group based (only BTS songs or only BlackPink songs, etc.) but the vast majority are extremely random, so any song by any group could be played. They're actually really fun to watch, even if you don't know all the songs.

Reading the captions and seeing what's happening in the video is a skill that definitely develops over time. Now I am not even consciously aware of reading the captions. It helps that I used to watch TV with captions to keep from waking my daughter, but it definitely gets more natural over time.

Your statement “talking there talk” reminds me of there not so recent song Permission to Dance(PTD). The song carrys a message of hope during the pandemic. “Don’t need to talk the talk just walk the walk TONIGHT”

Hey guys! I absolutely love watching your reactions. I’ve been here since your first BTS video and I just really love your attention to details. I saw how much you loved the dance practice and now you understand the dedication and hard work that comes into the dance aspect of their craft; the dance practices are some of my favorite content from BTS, but as a tip I wanna say one thing-listen to their footsteps. When they move together you hear ONE single stomp, not seven. It always blows my mind.

I don’t know why I’m so excited about your BTS reactions. It’s not like I haven’t watched all these videos a hundred times already. Maybe because I respect your opinions.
@joaniewwh35022 жыл бұрын
yeah the choreography is amazing and that's just microscopic care to details by bts, their choreographer, the camera man, and you guys reacting to it. 🔥 also, this track has always been one of my fave bts songs sonically, and live performance-wise. love it! oh also, for the "jungkook" worldplay, a lil trivia. the last name of jungkook is jeon. ;) jeon jungkook = jeonkook (nationwide).

🛑 Here is some information about the pre-debut time of BTS: In a 2017 interview, Bang PD said that he wanted to create a hip-hop group with Namjoon at center, and then over the years this idea turned into an idol group. BangTan was first shown to the public on August 30, 2010 during the promotion of the first casting of "Hit It!". The two show participants were Namjoon and Iron. (they were billed as having an underground experience; the band was promoted as a hip-hop collective). [*Namjoon and Iron (rapper who was hired in Big Hit after Namjoon) recorded two songs before the start of the first casting of "Hit It!" (which lasted for several months). around the same time, they recorded the joint tracks "Hook Gayo" and "We are B.P.B.*" with Supreme Boi, which were laid out on hip-hop boards in the likeness of "Hiphopplaya"] (*"B.P.B." - the old abbreviation "BTS". initially, english equivalent was "Bullet Proof Boyz".) The name change from "B.P.B." to "BTS" most likely roughly coincided with the transition from a hip-hop team to a hip-hop idol group. BangTan was always announced as debuting around 2011, but for some reason the plans were canceled indefinitely, and instead the second auditions of "Hit It" began and the line-up was changed. [when we are transported to 2011 and 2012, it is difficult to piece together information, as many of them conflict with each other when it comes to members and dates. something obviously interfered with the plans for the debut and delayed it for almost 2 years] There is speculation that the original debut was canceled to make BangTan an idol group. Then they added new members (including, eventually, everyone in vocal line) and prepared for a new debut. 🛑 If you want to listen to "We Are Bulletproof pt1": - kzbin.info/www/bejne/qIfdo6WEdr9kkLc (BTS ver.) - kzbin.info/www/bejne/Z2fLlaOmft58jNE (B.P.B ver.)

Loved that reaction guys. I love that you look every time at the lyrics! It’s a thing not many reaction channels do so I’m so thankful for that. Please react to we are bulletproof pt 1, it’s such a underrated song. Many new army don’t know it exists. BTS have a choreography there they even needed to change one thing because they got hurt so many times doing it. In dionysus they had to do a turn and fall onto the ground, that move is pretty dangerous because you can hurt your arms, shoulders and knees pretty easily. They changed it to prevent that the members hurt themselves even further. Taehyung for example got his arm or shoulder hurt one time in a live performance. BTS and other kpop groups upload dance practices for fans to see the full choreography and so the fans can learn the dance easily. ^^ I purple you guys!💜

I think they changed the Dionysus choreo when JK got hurt with the fall move . V got hurt rolling backwards off the table.

This song is really nostalgic for me, THIS song was the one that helped me discover BTS cause I "accidentally" downloaded We are Bulletproof dance practice version thinking it was a dance routine just like 1Million😭❤️🔥

Argh I love this second single of theirs and your reaction. The hat trick blew my mind too! It’s choreo and they repeat the same kinds idea with cards in their recent Grammy performance from this year; imma go check if you’ve already reacted to that but if not; it’s a must especially after you loved this choreo so much. Big Hit may not have had a huge budget (and probably should have spent less on RM’s hair in this era! 😅) but they were right in their manager, choreographer and tutor budget, the boys were really well schooled and protected. 💜

I'm so unbelievably excited that you have a Patreon! I'm already clicking over now :) Also, it's a little off-schedule, but I highly recommend you check out J-Hope's solo debut. As you may already know, BTS recently announced they'd be pursuing individual albums for a while, with J-Hope's being the first, ahead of his headlining act at Lollapalooza. The album is titled "Jack in the Box" and will release on July 15th. The pre-release track is called "MORE" and it's unlike anything we've ever heard from him before. J-Hope stated in his Weverse Magazine interview that he wanted his music to be more raw, more real. He said it will take a darker turn, and it definitely did. Seriously, whatever expectations you have for the track, you should bundle them up and throw them out the window because I promise they're wrong (unless you're only expectation is that it's amazing, of course)

Wow chicos.

Loved thissss!!! I don't know if y'all know already but Yoongi (Suga) played basketball for a long long time, well his stage name Suga comes from Shooting Guard, the position he played. Would really really adore if you react to SUGA's intros Nevermind and The Most Beautiful Moment in life where he raps in a really intense way, and the second one I mentioned (TMBMIL) have in the video and lyrics a lot of basketball background, I think you could really relate an connect to those intros! Lots of hugs, thank you for your craft!

I always look forward to your reactions. Another example of this perfectionism is 3J's (JK, Jimin, JHope) behind the scene dance practise for their Butter remix with Megan Thee Stallion..The amount of effort they put in for a dance break that would only last 1 minute long is beyond amazing. They never stopped until they were happy with the result.

@brionyfakatou16202 жыл бұрын
Idol is the Korean word 아이돌 ( pronounced ah ee dohl) used to describe someone who performs in kpop. You’lllearn more about that in the first episode of the rise of Bangtan. Idols are kind of looked down on in Korean society as sort of brainless dancing monkeys who are trained to do whatever their company tells them. (Although that is clearly not the case with BTS.) that’s why RM says a “mere idol.”

even though it was originally a pre-debut song, the 'we are bulletproof pt. 1' released in 2015 is incredibly slept on, like- extremely less known if compared to we are bulletproof pt. 2 -- however, it is one heck of a banger and deserves so much more attention than it has received, me being an army of 4 years, almost 5 years now only recently discovered it and if that doesn't say anything then i don't know what does. guys- i'd 100% recommend it! calling it a banger would be an understatement, it really is awesome and deserves tons more recognition!! please do give it a listen in future!!

Regards to them saying “We are Bulletproof”, this was still more like a second introduction as BTS (for those who haven’t seen their debut MV) as well as them talking about the meaning behind “Bulletproof” in lyrical terms.

j-hope has many fans and millions of followers/monthly listeners! no reason to be worried he’s being slept on anymore cause he isn’t (hope we can finally put those untrue “underrated” labels behind us) 🥰 jhope personally said he’s aware how very loved he is as well, isn’t he the sweetest? plus there are threads every week and a common understanding between everyone that his verses always SLAY. so many people appreciate and support hoseok, we love that so much for him! 🥰
