I've been here many times and have always felt different energies. I never saw anything but you can feel it strongly on the 4th floor.

The actual accident happened on August 3, 1895 to a 14 year old boy named William Wallace who was employed as a sweeper on the third floor of the Columbia Mills. He was leaning over the safety rail into the open channel of the elevator's counter-weight to watch the elevator ascend. As the elevator ascended, the 1,000 lb weight came down and hit him on the head breaking his neck. He was not decapitated, but he was killed. A coroner's inquest concluded the death was a result of carelessness on the part of the Columbia Mills Company. (See "Nearly Guillotined." The State, August 3, 1895, page 8.)

The 1895 newspaper article about his death was written on 8/3 but stated that the incident and his death occurred 8/2.

Back when my kids were little we did a sleepover with a homeschool group. We actually slept across from the Hunley near the American Revolution solider. The next morning I was talking to the night guard that I had shared a snack with the night before. We were chit chatting and I told him how thankful I was that he was watching over our group. He said, "I didnt stay here all night. Are you crazy? The place is haunted!" He walked away mumbling about there was no way he was staying around someplace at night when there was a ghost about. I was stunned and cant help but laugh about it now

I worked in a Warehouse in Forest City. When I took the Nightshift some workers told me to watch out for "Terry". This man was killed in an Injection Mold Machine . Some night he knock down safety mirrors . Sometimes stacked products. But I shrugged take off to temperature changes Then there were I night I would physically see him walking through the warehouse ,have me thinking it was the 3rd shift supervisor. Only to have him disappear around the corners. I'd tell my Boss about it in the mornings and he'd just laugh. He said "Don't worry , that's Terry playing jokes on you.
