these aren't the usual pearls used in bubble tea. The actual ones are black and require boiling for about an hour. Also, the usual tea concoctions are normal stuff like black/red teas or milk teas. Jasmine usually doesn't go as well with the pearl due the the fact that jasmine tea isn't meant to be extremely sweet. One can also use other things such as "grass jelly" and "ai-yu Jelly" or even "nata de coco" to help enhance flavors! Hope you guys see this!!

you're right. the white ones arent really commonly used and are used in desserts. the black ones are used in tea . however not all tapioca needs boiling for an hour. you can also find packets which have the tapioca a bit softer and allows you to boil it in five minutes and tastes the exact same but they are just quicker to make because they are softer in the packet

The white centre in the tapioca balls means that it's undercooked and not fully cooked through. It should turn translucent once it's fully cooked. The tricky thing about these balls of starch is that no matter how long you boil them for, they never seem to turn fully translucent. The trick is to boil them and leave them fully submerged in boiling water overnight. I'm Asian so of course I'm a pro at this bubble tea thing. Like, duh.

Did the bubble tea actually turn out good, though?? The Tapioca pearls looked undercooked. I've tried making bubble tea several times, and whenever the pearls would turn out like in the video (white inside), they were basically half-uncooked :( Is that how they're supposed to be??? Or have I been using inferior ingredients and/or an inferior recipe, perhaps? (I'd really like to know how to do this. The coffeehouses and ice cream parlors here in Germany haven't stocked any bobo tea at all this summer, and I doubt I can get any warm versions in fall either. But I really like the drink because I'm Southern so of course I like tea, especially sweet, especially cold lol)

You should be soaking the pearls overnight before boiling them. They're ready when fully translucent.

If it is cooked thoroughly, then the the color of the tapioca would be translucent white (like you see on the outer area of the tapioca in vid).
