I started carring the Buck 110 in 1973 when I first went into the AF. Had it on my belt for about for about 15 years . Got the 55 when it first came out. It is called the 55 as it is 55% of the 110. At least that is how they advertised it when it first hit the market. Great video someone will be very lucky getting this.

It is a good looking knife. What I would picture for years when someone said folding knife or pocket knife. Usually the 110. I bought one for someone that said they wanted to try it. He seemed to like it. I only opened and closed it a few times to be sure it worked before sending it across the pond. The one I want to get is the grey ghost I believe and eventually a 110 just because it is a classic. Thanks for showing it.

My first and only Buck was a 110. Like you I got it when I was in high school. Unlike you, mine is long lost. *snif* I recently got a new 110, though not wood handled. I've been surprised at the sheer heft of the thing, both in size and weight. This looks like a much better EDC carry just for those reasons alone, especially if you're set on a Buck lockback.

I carried a 55 for a year. Mine looks like it might be walnut. It’s from before Buck started using wood from the rare Dymond tree /s. Perfect EDC size imo. I switched to a Case Copperlock after that. Currently the Vic Cadet has this spot. Got to love a small knife. Sometimes the big one isn’t the right time or place.

Buck nuts, like myself, will tell you that the 55 would be more accurately compared to the 111 model. The 55 and 111 both have the curved bolsters, whereas the 110 does not. Maybe it should be named the 55.5...? The 55 comes in at about 2/3rds the length and 1/4th the weight of the 110. The ebony scale material is a recent change (upgrade in my opinion) and looks really nice! Thanks for sharing.

@Lex55763 жыл бұрын
I think 2020 is the first year the 55 has come out in ebony wood. Previous versions are still being sold with walnut covers. I'd say the 55 is roughly 1/4 the size of the 110 when considering weight. Both the 110 and 112 are beasts. I really like the 55. I wish Buck had something with about 1/2" longer blade, 1/2" more handle, with the same slim profile.

Man I see you everywhere! And I was looking around at the small Buck knives. How many styles are there of the 110? I know about the 112, 55, Prince, Squire and Knight. Im looking for one with about a 3 inch blade or slightly less. I’m liking the 55 and Prince the best, and I’m guessing the only difference between the two is the blade shape?
@BigRedEDC3 жыл бұрын
There are a few different versions of the 110 as far as handle material and a couple of aftermarket spruced up versions! The Prince would be a good choice choice for the 2.5 to 3" blade!

I'm not into lock back knives. I prefer a knife that I can easily open and close with one hand. Now, having said that, I have to say that any knife collection containing more than two knives is incomplete without having a Buck lock back in it. (He said while fondling his Buck 110 that seldom sees the light of day and never any pocket time...I got it out to watch this video with. Seemed appropriate) As for, is the 55 half the size of a 110?...uh, no. My 110 has a (roughly) 3.7" blade while the 55 has a 2.5" blade. Even though I don't carry a 110 or a 55, I think they are beautiful knives but, they're just not my cuppa tea.
