Buck 3 Yards From My Tree

Went looking for the Bamboo Buck I jumped off bed a few days earlier. Not sure if this is the same deer, but he walked right under me!

Soon as that buck hit your scent trail he turned and went back the direction he came from. Good example why access is key and you do not want to walk where you expect the deer to come from. Great video looking forward to the next.

That ole boy could smell something but just couldn't figure out where you were at!! He had a little bit of mass on him.. If he makes it through this year, he should be a good one, but the second buck behind those branches and leaves looked like it was a shooter but couldn't see it real good!! Man Kat, at 6:21 I would have snapped an arrow in him. Hes a very nice non typical and then you still have a buck tag left for a nice typical. Thats a solid season when you get one of each.

If that was yesterday and that was me, fried venison with the beautiful oyster mushrooms I found, smashed potatoes and venison gravy, got to say, he would be down. Can't say I can tell the difference in flavor of a six point compared to a 12 with drop tines. Deer in Maine aren't as plentiful.

I'd like to know what causes these lopsided racks. Used to hear, "Oh it's been hit by a car while in velvet." Not sure I buy that. Today's the opener for our early muzzleloader doe season and ML bear season. Winds going to be a challenge.

He's after what he wants at this point in the season. He's gotten at least 4 deer this year already, and donated all but 1 to Hunters For The Hungry. He actually kept the smallest deer to eat. Probably looking for a quality buck now that pre-rut is in and bigger bucks are starting to ramp up activity. I would've passed on that funky-horned buck too.
