"Puberty blockers" is *Lupron*. I think people should know the history of Lupron, and most importantly, stop using the euphemism "puberty blockers". I feel like it is deliberately used to obfuscate the fact that this is a serious drug that definitely doesn't fit the definition of a "wait and see" approach - it's an intervention that messes with the developing brains and bodies of children and can damage them permanently. Lupron was initially developed to treat prostate cancer as an alternative to surgical removal of the prostate, and then as treatment for repeat sex offenders (which has mostly stopped because of side effects and lack of demonstrated efficacy). Use for precautious puberty is already shaky as it is - some children have developed severe, permanent side effects from just a few years of use, enough to sue the manufacturer and make the medical community question this treatment. It's absolutely BONKERs to me how detached "gender affirming care" is detached from these realities in order to placate the fragile feefees of some perceived oppressed class.

I've never heard of any child dying or having serious medical issues from starting puberty early. Stop giving kids all these drugs. Just because a child develops differently, does not mean it's unnatural and needs intervention. My nephew was diagnosed with something at the age of 3 ad put on meds, then diagnosed with something different at 5 and put on different medication. There nothing wrong with him except for having bad, uninvolved parents. Kids in the US are constantly being misdiagnosed and put of drugs because it's easy and the doctors get paid.

You are so right Buck after I had children I was very uncomfortable in my body and I elected to have a tummy tuck which was not covered by my insurance because it was not medically necessary. Why should sex change surgery be paid for by insurance just because someone is uncomfortable in their bodies, most people who get plastic surgery and any kind ofsurgery to change their bodies do it because they are uncomfortable with how they are. What makes transgender more special than anyone else that their plastic surgery should be paid for.

I had precocious puberty and I was totally fine. Little awkward but other than that nbd. I was 9 when I got my period, 7 when I had noticeable boobies and body hair. Just from a medical perspective, precocious puberty needs to be halted when it occurs in children who can be as young as 5. While it CAN be genetic, sometimes it stems from trauma, infections or tumors. It`s not just a bullying issue that causes psychological stress for the children, it ironically has the same issue as putting children with gender confusion on it. It prevents them from having a normal puberty and gives them many of the same medical problems. Children need to move through their Tunner phases at a natural pace, especially for their bone health. Female puberty is already starting early with 9 year olds, where it used to start as late as 16, that is already a large gap in development. However, a child going through puberty between 5-8 years of age is lacking considerably more important development stages than a 9 or 10 year old. Short height is often the greatest concern for boys, but bones who`s growth plates fuse too quickly are also simply weaker bones prone to injury. Girls reach terminal height faster than boys, because a considerable amount of time needs to be invested into the development of their hips. Skipping through the Turner phases here can lead to abnormally narrow birth canals making future delivery more difficult, and carrying a full pregnancy to term more complicated. Precocious puberty also increases a child`s risk of other medical conditions like: Cancer, insulin resistance, diabetes, PCOS, and cardiovascular disease. Obviously, this can also cause mental health disorders like MDD, and anxiety, but children with unresolved precocious puberty also tend to suffer from higher rates of addiction as well. So, for the LEGITIMATE use of halting an UNNATURALLY occurring puberty, puberty blockers can save children from objective, physical issues and increased risks of diseases and injuries. Ironically, ILLEGITIMATLY putting perfectly healthy children on puberty blockers to UNNATURALLY halt their natural puberty causes many of these problems. It really just does seem like we`re an animal that is supposed to go through certain development phases in a certain window of time, and natural and unnatural things that mess with that timeline do damage. Yet, somehow these endocrinologists couldn`t figure that incredibly simple fact out.... or, they pretended they didn`t know for a neo-religion/politics/money.
