Great video, Clay. I'm looking forward to more like these. Thanks for highlighting XChecklist. Looking forward to trying it. Was also wanting to try Plane Command. Informative and easy to watch videos. Thanks so much - PT

Great idea with Plane Command. I'll look into it a bit. Great to see you back flying along PT!

Thank you very much for these great Videos!! Watched the bahama series in one rush and learned so much to improve in my sim flying :) xchecklist looks good - looking forward to the rest of the Werkes :):)

Thanks for watching them all and flying along, MrLPMirror! I'm glad your sim flying has improved. More series to come!

Awesome video.

Thanks for flying along! I’ve really enjoyed that plugin and stay as true as I can to checklists in the sim. It’s allowed me to know them so much better in the airplane.

nice vid as always! control lock: I think you need to push the yoke forward and look at your bottom-left and mouse click the white and red lock. might I also suggest trying a leg or two in nasty IFR conditions?
@clayviation7 жыл бұрын
Thanks for that gugiek! Yes I do have some weather conditions on the horizon. Thanks for the suggestion and stay tuned!

Great video! The control lock is located in the left door.

That makes perfect sense, ddv2511 - exactly where it should be, huh? Thanks!

Great video, as usual. Thank you very much. May I ask you in a future video to tell the truth about calibrating the altimeter before takeoff and landing. Why is it important and what could be the results of not doing it. (in x-plane). Thanks.

Hi Nonkelbeer! Great to see you flying along with me again. I'd be happy to work that into one of the legs of this series. See you up there!

I have a question about leaning the mixture. In the Cessna 172 is it more appropriate to lean the way you did by referencing the RPMs or should lean to peak EGT and then enrich back to 100°F of peak EGT (or something in that neighborhood). I am only a flight simulator pilot, but I look to go for as much realism as possible, and a few other channels I have been watching will lean the mixture using the EGT.
@clayviation7 жыл бұрын
That's a great question, Jonathon, and I think you might get different answers from different pilots. I've seen both methods used, and my understanding is that both methods achieve the same end result.
@jon4197 жыл бұрын
Thanks! I think I understand now, there is a difference of leaning for best power and leaning for best economy (fuel use). Now I just need to do a bit of research find out when and why you would choose one of those leaning methods.
@clayviation7 жыл бұрын
Yes, if you lean TO the peak EGT, you are leaning for best economy. Hotter temperature, all the fuel is burned, more range. If you enrichen 50 degrees or so rich of peak EGT, you are leaning for best power. More fuel burn, cooler operating temperature, slightly better speed. Ultimately, not much difference in performance. Most of the disagreement would come down to maintenance and the well being of the engine over time.

Either I'm blind, or the xchecklist file that I downloaded has no file named clist at all. AND maybe Im ignorant, but I don't see a default checklist on my Cessna c172 on xplane 11. Someone help please.

Great video, very entertaining! For some reason, when you turned off the engine, the tachometer did not follow.... "simism" maybe
@clayviation7 жыл бұрын
Thanks Ebel! I watched it back and see what you are talking about - great observation. I tried to recreate that in the sim and couldn’t. Normally it does fall off - very odd. I’ll watch out for that and see if there is something more to why that happened. Thanks for flying along!
@ebels.rodriguez62787 жыл бұрын
clayviation could be because of the failures you set on the previous videos, i think that the tach was one of those. "wild guess"
@clayviation7 жыл бұрын
It’s a good theory. I’ll have to double check that they are repaired. Thanks!

Haha, touché, aakksshhaayy! I know most hardcore gamers are PC, but I’m a Mac guy, so I do my best. Thanks for flying along!
