I know I'm late to the party, but I want to say that your tutorials were extremely helpful to me. I just got into "realistic" flight simming in preparation for Flight Sim 2020, so it's all new to me. Two additions from my experience to this video: - If you want to reactivate a leg that has already been deactivated (because you have reached the target WPT) or skip a leg in your flight plan, you can open the FPL page, push the cursor button, choose the target WPT of the leg you want to activate, then enter and "activate". Now the leg you've chosen is pink again and the AP will head for the starting WPT of the leg. - If you use freeware aircraft, you may have to bind the NAV/GPS button to your keyboard or joystick or whatever you're using. Some freeware aircraft don't have that button in the cockpit model but have AP, NAV computers and a GPS that still let you use the "fly by gps" function.

Ok thanks. I would like to know if it is possible to failures to occur based on the pilots actions in the cockpit or if it has to be set on the failures tab in free flight for it to occur. For example, can I cause an engine fire if I don't have the plane engines set up right?

Dear Doofer911, Trust a true Scotsman to another Scotsman on the other side of the world, and I should thank-you very much for this tutorial. I flew reverse VORs and am having trouble getting up to Kiribati from British Samoa in the basic FSX B737-800. Need you choochter a lot, I,m a Glasgow Engineer and am a bit out of touch with the technologies. Shall be flying the B737-8 soon, so I better "pull my socks up." My friend is a private pilot-Granny was from Buckie-and father bomber command out of Lossiemouth. Your tutorial shall blow his mind, so thanks for everything. Hope you had a grand Hogmanay. Yours sincerely, Swaggy 213.

Excellent video. Regarding the orbit area, I found this on a forum; The Orbit areas are for the use of E-3 AWACS aircraft (both RAF and NATO). Each area has a number of nodes to allow for separation and spacing as the E-3 effectively becomes a mobile HIRTA when it is "active" and additional protection must be given to it to avoid frying any electronics of other aircraft. With the nodes in use, separation can be provided to the node, rather than the whole area. It also allows for multiple AWACS to work the same area of sky with adequate procedural separation.

Hi Doofer. I was so sad when this series ended and somewhat relieved knowing that I can now go and try out everything you taught me. I just wanted to thank you again for your amazing series. I also see that after this your videos were all over the place and you didn't know what to actually do :) Please can you start a fresh series on Prepar3d? FSX is so outdated and old and Prepar3d feels so fresh and looks so good. You can always give instructions using the Bonanza A-36. Another options is to shows the steps in using Prepar3d and online flights. I have not seen any decent videos explaining how to use the online multiplayer mode or showing the correct way when flying Multiplayer on IVAO. I mean there is another series to think about :)

+Doofer911 Hi Doofer. I found that people don't do enough research into Prepar3d and initially think the game cost hundreds of dollars and that they will lose all their FSX mods. The full game "Academic License" is only $59.95 and the great news is that most FSX mods work with it.

This video was extremely helpful. Thank you very much. The only thing I wish I'd seen was exactly when you would disable the GPS on approach for landing. I understand you decided to show a missed approach, which was also very helpful, but I ended up not quite getting the full picture. Thanks though. Amazing vid. I'd love to see another vid on how to use the GPS on an IFR flight, with ATC, takeoff to landing. Know of any good tutorials on that? You are a total pro at this. Cheers.
@Doofer9117 жыл бұрын
You would either disable the Autopilot for landing or switch from GPS to NAV mode for an ILS. The GPS doesn't provide Vertical Guidance so there's no way to automate the final approach to Landing.

The default FSX GPS is unfairly maligned. Apart from its rather slow and jerky update, it is an extremely accomplished gauge, and offers a comprehensive set of navigation options. 9 out of 10 flight sim pilots hardly ever use it. While not as slick as some addon GPS packages it is still a very powerful tool. Thanks for uploading.

I had to re-play and re-play many, many times to follow what you were doing and what button your cursor was pushing because you move so fast I couldn't follow. Remember different age groups, learn differently. Pleas slow your instruction down and explain slowly and plainly.

VORTAC = a combination of VOR and a military TACAN. VOR utilise VHF frequency, where TACAN utilise UHF frequency. VOR, when first established, solely provided infinite amount of radials for navigation, to and from information, NO distance information. TACAN (Tactical Air Navigation), provided military aircraft uninterrupted radials, to/from information, and Distance (DME) information. In the USA, they decided to combine the VOR with the TACAN, (VORTAC), Civil aircraft can now receive VOR radials, with DME(Distance) information from the TACAN part. The frequencies are paired, you dial the VOR frequency and you receive both radials and DME. For military aircraft, they use channel, you may see on a chart,for example, VOR 112.4, CH 77. The military aircraft dials up CH77, and he receives radials and DME, from the same facility.
