I emailed you last week asking to buy an axe, and you told me it sounded like I needed to make my own. I just finished my first axe today, restored the head and made the handle from scratch. Just in this video you answered almost all the questions I came across today. My wedge not fitting, how far down it should go, how the shoulders need to be tapered and how the fit should be, and what to do when your wedge doesn't fit or if you don't have much room. If my head comes loose I'll know exactly how to fix it and hopefully reseat it to get a better fit. Thanks for telling me that Buckin. It was a simple thing but it was all it took to get me to make my own and it was one of the funnest things I've ever done. I can't wait for the next one.

Billy I need your help my family has a walnut orchard in California. We have a ton of huge rounds like 4-6 feet wide(that’s massive for a beginner like me) and I need a splitting maul/axe that will work for walnut. My family doesn’t believe someone can hand split these rounds but I’m determined to prove them wrong, something like $150.00 or cheaper but ya apreacate your help if possable just a suggestion to a good splitting ax or maul thanx billy

Buckin could you explain why you use an undercut on almost every tree? Seems like on some hard leaners you could just back cut and she would go right where you want. I’m trying to learn and I just wanted to know if there is a reason to undercut every tree.
