Thank you. My 2 year old son hurt himself a week ago and the x-rays at the emergency room showed nothing and his primary doctor said to just wait it out but we just weren’t sure about that so we got another x-ray done a week later and sure enough it shows a green stick fracture. Now we are just waiting for the primary doctor to actually diagnose it but we aren’t gonna wait we’re gonna wrap it up for now maybe put a splint/boot on it.

Sounds good. At 2 years old they heal so quickly which is amazing. Splinting or boot will help. Usually healed in 3 weeks depending on amount of deformity. See your doctor though. Best of luck. Thanks for watching and subscribing

What about a video on radial head/neck fractures? My 5 year old just had the pleasure of suffering a (now confirmed) radial neck fracture from a fall. Of course I googled the heck out of it and there seems to be some major inconsistencies between treatment options. Clarification might help parents while waiting for followup. I overheard the ER doc saying in older patients, they wouldn’t even cast it. Found that interesting.
@TalkingWithDocs4 жыл бұрын
Hi Mom2Boys. We do have a video on that topic coming. Usually in kids it does very well with immobilization and yes in adults it can be just a splint or sling depending on the severity. Each case is a little different. Often some physio afterwards. Hope that helps and thanks for watching as always.

Hi Cheneille. Typically patients this age go on to heal without any difficulty or issue. If you have specific questions be sure to ask your physician. And be careful going down the stairs! Thanks for watching.

My 6 year old daughter's forearm is bent after a fall. It has little to no swell I think. Would it be just fine if it will not be treated? Will the bone straighten up on their own? Or should I have it treated by a physician?
@TalkingWithDocs2 жыл бұрын
Hi Alvin. Often the cast can help get it straighter faster. Without casting there is a possibility of permanent deformation of the bone. We would recommend seeing a doctor. Hope that helps. Thanks for watching, subscribing and sharing with someone if you did.

@TalkingWithDocs3 жыл бұрын
Hi Stacey. The greenstick in the very young is an injury that heals very quickly. Splints are often enough however we have shared your experience that the splint can come off and sometimes that is the only reason for putting an above elbow cast on - so it can't be taken off! It will typically heal in a couple of weeks as long as he doesn't fall again out of the splint. Hope that helps. Thanks for watching and subscribing if you did.

I had a green stick fracture at the age of 13 ! Now I am 15 ! My arm has little bent ! How can I cure it ?
@TalkingWithDocs5 жыл бұрын
Hi Legendary Assassin. Over time, when young, our bodies do have the ability to remodel these fractures to a certain extent and straighten the bone. Usually this will take place over the first couple of years. If it is still bent, there is little you can actually do to change the alignment unless it was severe and had significant impact on your function. If that was the case, you could have an osteotomy which is an operation where the bone is broken, straightened and then held straight with a metal plate and screws. Hope that answers the question. Thanks for watching and good luck!

Ok Logan. Be careful and get better. Green stick and buckle fracture often mean the same thing. It just means that the thick skin on your bones prevents them from completely breaking - they kind of bend. Usually they heal well. Good luck

I have a buckle fracture in my wrist (they called it a radius fracture) I did it by slipping while playing basketball can u explain why that happened? by the way im 14
@TalkingWithDocs4 жыл бұрын
Hi Reliable Rants. The buckle fracture happens in younger patients because they have a thick lining - periosteium - on their bones that causes them to bend rather than snap. It happened when you fell because of the way you landed on your wrist. These types of injuries usually do very well. Thanks for watching and good luck.

@TalkingWithDocs5 жыл бұрын
Hi John. It would depend on which bone was broken. It is rare to break your shoulder blade but any fracture around the shoulder can make your posture a little different and can therefore make your shoulder blade (or scapula) stick out a bit. Hope that answers your question.

Does buckle fracture happen only with children? or it happens with adults too ?? please answer.
@TalkingWithDocs6 жыл бұрын
Hi Bella. Good question. Buckle fractures only happen in children due to the thickness of their periosteum - which is a thick tissue that surrounds their bones while they grown. In adults the periosteum is much more thin and not as strong. This is why a child's bone can bend sometimes rather than break - similar to a green tree when you try to break it. Hope that clarifies things for you.

I fractured my clavicle two weeks ago. It sounds similar to a greenstick fracture. My bones is angulated and there is now a bump over the fracture site, which I know is common to happen. Should I be able to look at it and see that it's not as angulated as before? Because it doesn't look that different, but I am able to move my arm around better. I am able to take off my sling in a few days
@TalkingWithDocs5 жыл бұрын
Hi Jeff T. Often the bump will persist but healing will still occur and you will be able to move your arm with less pain. This sounds like a typical course for a clavicle fracture in a younger patient. Good luck!

I didn’t get a cast. I got a brace splint thingy which is made of fabric. It hardly helped, I could still move my wrist which was painful. It was supposed to heal in 3 weeks yet mine has not healed yet after almost 5 weeks. It still gets painful but not when I move it just randomly and if I overuse it, it becomes very painful. I would have been much better in a cast and would have probably healed quicker.
