So true-- "like wildflowers"! Thank you for describing it so well. (I grow wildflowers & trees instead of lawn or pasture, so i see a world of butterflies, bees, fireflies & dragonflies & hear tree toads & birds & crickets, all whom the flowers sustain like a Mayday parade float, so it's the right term for these dharma talks).

Thank you Ajahn Brahm for sharing your “talks” year after year. You may not know it, but I hit quite a few(not one) low points about 11 years ago due to a separation and eventual divorce resulting in basically a “broken” family. I ended up homeless and what I considered “displaced /removed/eliminated “Cutting to the point; about a year into this “displacement “ I found you on KZbin and you’re wisdom, calmness, and kindness saved me. I’m sorry if that sounds too personal but I mean that. You spoke so much, but your story of the closeness of the hand to the face really helped me. Thank you so much!!!

Dear Ajhan Brahm, thank you so much for the story of the cat and Buddha. Today, at the end of this online event my telefone rang. The vet said, my cat Jaran (what means: friend) Carlos Ganesha had died. The doctor had done what she could, but Jaran was brougth too late to the vet. Jaran had lived in the house of my ex-boyfriend. I could do nothing but cry this afternoon and was wandering aimlessly through the town. Jaran was so special. Yesterday I sang mantras for him and asked even Ganesha to help him and put a statue in his basket. But I am so glad, that yesterday evening the doctor gave me an hour alone with Jaran, I sang to him mantras and held him for the first and last time in my arms (he never had liked this). And I gave him his basket. And when I was wandering alone this afternoon, suddenly the story with the cat and Buddha. .. of the artist, that painted all the animals, except his cat... and the cat became more and more sad. And finally, he painted it into the picture and the cat died of happiness - it struck me when walking: that was exactly my issue today. As an artist (musician, mainly) I was so involved in my work.... and my poor cat lived in the house of my ex-boy-friend. I thought, Jaran was o.k., but he was not. And I had to care of the hamster of my son, after my son had left the appartment, and when I was taking a walk the last years I stopped at every cat to caress her. Hamster Charly died on Sunday. And I was looking forward to take Jaran in my appartement now, had arranged everything already. There he would get the care he needed, there he would be healed. I meditate al lot. But yesterday night Jaran passed away. I did not give him permission, but I chanted and prayed and loved him like I never have loved an animal before. Jaran is so much more than just an animal. As every animal is just so much more than an animal. Each animal is unique ! And Jaran was so special, like a philosopher with the body of a cat. I hope he sits right beside the Buddha right now! This is my only comfort so far today. God bless Jaran Carlos Ganesha. What would I give to have one more look into the eyes of this cat! Thank you, dear Ajhan Brahm for this talk today.

I'm not a monk, but I can't stand possessions because I feel so heavy emotionally and spiritually. However, I do collect things and put them in my closet for future giving. My children call it the store of love. Because I love giving what I have. I don't own these things. Even if the store were empty of things, I'd always find love in giving.. TIME . I don't own time. So I just let it go what ever way it goes. Again that's just me. Is that still owning?
@isceaakajessicaogradach9359 Жыл бұрын
I love this talk because I identify with Mrs. Monk. However I have learned that my children are not the things they give me, but the love in the giving. Does it mean I don't live them if I give away a few of the things they give me? Nope. My love AND my children's love passes in to the next person. That's just how I perceive life. 😊
