The night in 1968, when I met Buddy Miles and Jimi Hendrix, They were sitting across the room at The Village Gate nightclub watching Buddy Guy wreak havoc on an innocent guitar. Also on that bill was King Curtis and Albert King. I got a chance to speak to my hero, Jimi Hendrix, and got to hear some of the best blues I've ever heard in my 72 years on this planet! What's truly amazing is that he's still doing it after all these years!

Buddy Guy was a force of nature in his prime. I don't think anyone truly realizes how special he is and his music contributions to the overall culture of all music in America. Also those note bends are killer.

Buddy displays his trademark licks and exactly why he was such a huge influence on Hendrix, and Jack Bruce shows why he was a supreme jazz-rock stylist bassist who single-handedly invented electric bass. Also of note is Dick Heckstall Smith, on the far left, who played with JB and Ginger in The Graham Bond Organisation and was an underrated musician whoh was capable of playing multi instruments-tenor and soprano-simultaneously, a la Rahsaan Roland Kirk.

Buddy Guy. His legend and influence cannot be overstated. Old rockstars walk in his shadow, Many long dead and legends themselves. Close to 90, this cat is still out there, doin' it. Jimi recorded him every chance he got. He had a reel to reel and set it up with a couple microphones. And he never denied he stole everything he could from him! I haven't researched Jeff Beck's relationship with Buddy but they sure were great friends. And they sure tore up them guitars when they got together. Buddy actually scared me several years ago when he threw down some Voo Doo Child (A Slight Return) at an outdoor show in Denver. It didn't just sound right, it FELT right..... And he can still do it. When we lose Buddy, we lose the last direct link to the Delta, to Muddy, Wolf, all of it. Born in a plantation cabin, he was so determined that he built his first instrument - it had two strings. He's a Living Legend, for real. Blessings L

Saw him in college back in May 2017 at the Indiana University auditorium. Was a great show! He was 81 at the time and still killed it !

I’ve had the great fortune of hearing BG live several times. First time was many years ago at a little club in Northern California. Before the show, I happened to walk by the dressing room and the door was open. Inside I could clearly see the band. Buddy was seated and looked PISSED off big time. When they came onstage - Buddy laid the place flat. Never seen anything like it in my life and I have seen the greats. Not sure if whatever I saw backstage was driving it but it was next level. Over the years have seen him a bunch. Each show is different, his vibe is different, and what he brings is diff - but always major.
