Budget Action good in 2024? IceFox 4K action camera review

I usually watch YT on an old Chromebook, not my better quality PC monitor, or my 4K television. So I rely on your judgement when it comes to TRUE 4K vs upscaled when viewing on the Chromebook. That being said, I did not need to load this video up on my 4K TV to tell that the video and audio on the IceFox is inferior. With Akaso dropping the ball, and Campark neglecting to follow up on their decent, but older V40. I'm wondering if ANY company plans to fill the void in the budget 4K action cam space.

I honestly think that we're at a point that the top 3 action camera companies, GoPro, DJI and Insta360 have advanced the field so much that the budget cameras will never catch up and always look subpar at this point. Really a shame, but maybe because the budget sector was nipping at their heels a few years ago, it caused some big advancements by the top 3 and we the consumer benefited from it.

I haven't checked about action cam for a long time..just found sjcam sj11 active..now I'm still comparing between sj11 and sj8 pro..which one is worth having..to record video while riding a motorcycle..

I would have laughed if it came with a really nice case. This looks like a step down from our original SJ cams but with a vestigial front screen. Thanks, as always, for reviewing this. I stopped buying budget cams years ago but like any addiction, I'll never be truly cured.

It's unfortunate for the people at IceFox but I think your review was totally fair and honest. It's just a bad product. There's too many youtubers that get free products or other types of compensation and then just shovel out superficial reviews.

I still have the first V50x that you recommended, it still has pretty good video. I use it in my garage where I don’t worry about it. It just has very low sound. I video when I do major work on my vehicles. So I know how to put them back together !!! Too bad this Icefox isn’t better. I would say it’s more of a $50 camera. For $99 there are better ones out there. Thx 👍

Somehow I knew the conclusion before watching the video. It seems there hasn't been any progress at the bottom end of the market for a while. The Akaso looks so much better. Honestly I've seen 1080 action cams with better image quality than the IceFox.

Hey Andre, a lot of cyclists here in Chicago now are wondering what happened to the basic, affordable, workable action cams. Everything is over $300+! It seems now that only car dash cameras now are reasonable. Can you give any current bike action cam recommendations for now? Cyclists need it for their safety. Hey Tom ! Yeah the budget action camera market is very weak right now compared to the top 3 makers, GoPro, DJI and Insta360. I'll break out all of my older budget cameras and do a video on which one is still good in 2024 when on a budget. Regarding Akaso, since they pulled a sneaky and changed the internals on the V50X I'm very hesitant to recommend any Akaso camera as I don't know if they did the same thing with their other line of cameras. Give me a few days and I'll have a video for you.

It's definitely a shakycritter, especially in the pan shots. Also, I like my v50x. Maybe I got an older warehoused unit last year.

@@WORTHITORNOT You're probably right. The only thing "bad" with it is that the audio is terrible. I use that as my lower fork camera on the motorcycle. I never use that audio anyway.

I bought the Akaso V50 Pro and the Campark V30, because i was impressed with your video reviews. I still have them and they are my action cameras to this day (both blow the IceFox out of the water). As for IceFox i have to say a big no, no 👎. Nice review Andre.

@@TheVirtualsherpa To be fair, it would be virtually impossible for the majority of product reviewers to buy all these things out of their own pockets, so getting a product from a company is easy when the reviewer tells the company they only do honest and fair reviews and don’t allow the company any input on the final review, which is what I do in my emails to these companies.

I think right now campakr may be the best deal. Assuming they are honest akaso downgraded their hardware and it's trash now. Campark told me they didn't change anything in their cams. And the v30 is shown to be equal to the older akaso cams before the downgrade.
