Re the yellow packs - it's likely no accident that the Asda marketing team chose the colour yellow for their budget range and it's the same reason the McDonalds arches are yellow. This sunny shade is associated with warmth, reassurance and wellbeing, and is the most eyecatching colour in a sea of other colours, such as on a busy street or stacked shelves in a supermarket - advertisers use it to grab the customer's attention and reassure them that all is well within whatever it is they're selling. In the 80's a supermarket called Fine Fare had a budget range simply labelled "Yellow Packs" which had a very devoted following in my family - it's actually quite nostalgic to see Asda doing something similar in the 2020s! I'm trying them for the first time in my weekly shop this week and couldn't care less if anyone thinks it's somehow "common" or whatever, it makes identifying the cheapest product on the shelf so much easier (plus we're not living in the Downton Abbey era anymore so ppl need to get over themselves!😁). I've always gone for the budget ranges in any shop since expensive isn't always best when it comes to flavour and nutrition - I actually prefer many of the cheaper cuts of meat and varieties of fish for example, plus stuff like pasta, rice, beans, porridge oats are usually just as good from budget ranges as more expensive ones in my experience, so why pay more? Learning how to shop for taste and nutrition rather than "brand snobbery" is a skill but one so worth learning - 9 times out of 10 I've ended up having just as good if not better results with cheaper products once I learnt how to cook and what to buy etc.

The garlic bread for 32p was amazing no one noticed when I served it with our spaghetti bolognaise, the fresh orange juice 55 or 65p I poured into the old branded container see if anyone noticed again no one did! Ha! The apple juice was sooo nice too! X

I will say that all the food is made in the same factories your just paying for a name and your put all that boxes and packets in the bin, I have always bought each supermarket own label range and I just put my order for Asda and 99 items came to £80

Hi I recently tried some of the just essentials range and thought most of it was good. I would definitely try it again. With the cost of living ,it's nice to have cheaper options available ,and I wouldn't feel ashamed to be seen buying it.

I absolutely agree with what you said re people being ashamed, I would rather feed my kids than feeling shamed.

I love the yellow branding... I don't want to spend more time than I have to in a supermarket when I don't have the money to buy the mid or top range items and when i see someone with just essentials in their trolley i just see them as sensiblevand money savvy

You’ve really inspired me to spend less on my weekly shop! Currently I allocate £40 a week for just myself for 3 meals over 7 days, after watching this video I’m feeling i’m allocating too much towards my groceries

Hi great haul. I've tried alot of this myself but I'll still be buying better quality meat I can't help it. But I have switched to cheaper beans, ketchup and alot of other cupboard staples and snacks. I'm with you on the kitchen roll though, I find that the thicker one lasts longer anyway, the cheaper one you need like 4 or 5 sheets at a time and doesnt last 2 minutes lol. ☺️ X

I would love to know what you enjoyed. We have only had the cheese (love) garlic bread (love), coleslaw (ok), and spaghetti (same as other brands, so its good). I will be trying more. The colour really doesn't bother me - no difference between the previous white smart price and the yellow

i love lidl and tesco but did some online shops with asda just because of the summer holidays as it was easier ive tried a few things from the just essentials some of its nice but some stuff i didnt like including the roast chicken the one i got delivered had barely any meat on it :/
@Realmumsclub2 жыл бұрын
Oh really! Ours fed all of us but we had it as a roast dinner. I’ve always found Asda online doesn’t give the best dates. But u suppose it could be smaller as is a cheaper price. I don’t know 🤷🏼♀️

The is no shame in buying yellow sticker items or asdas yellow range of food or wonky veg in this day and age everyone is tightening the belts with electric gas and food rises not so long ago I was in aldi and a couple infront of me they talked with a plum in there mouthes in othe words they had plenty of money was buying a load of wine and other things so I thought if aldi is good enough for them it's good enough for me . I love shopping around especially if I can get a bargain I think everyone that gets bargains is cuffed
