I had a T reg hornet in 2004 as a second bike. Loved that thing. Had as much interest in me surviving the next corner as i did to the point where im convinced it took over the steering for me. Safe little piece of kit...and im sure alot of it had to do with the 16 inch front
@will4may1755 жыл бұрын
I've owned both these bikes, the Bandit 600 was my 1st big bike also, loved it, but, once you are confident on riding and want to do more twisty roads you need to stiffen the suspension on both of these, as these two bikes were aimed at beginner/intermediate/commuter riders, and the suspension is too bouncy for throwing round corners. Didnt do a lot of long ride outs on the bandit so hadnt tested the tank range, but the Hornet 600 was terrible, wasnt the fuel economy just the tank didnt hold much, when you are on a ride out in a group for a long ride you will be the one needing to fill up 1st. I would've preferred a Hornet 900 over the 600 for that punch out the corners, in a ride out with Thunderace Gixxers ZX7R's at the time in the corners I could hang nicely with them but out onto straights wringing the Hornet 6 neck still left me behind until the next corner. But my vote has to go to the Bandit (not the zebra coated mess) as theres a lot bigger fanbase even now where you can pickup parts/advice to keep your bike sweet.

@@yeoldchief7711 yeah I think all the 600 bandit were carbs I believe untill the 650 bandit came out I think even the 1200 bandits were aswell early on not to sure on them but I had a honda cbf600 which is basically the hornet engine in it and that was an 07 plate and that ran carbs, fuel Injection on bikes costs alot so not many of the lower end bikes had fuel Injection not untill recent years. Of course you seen them on the fireblade and some other bikes by 2001- 2002 the hayabusa is another but that even started off as a carb model so i have heard but then how much is a bike like that vs a commuter like a bandit 600 so those bikes had fuel Injection cause they had a price tag to match how much the fuel Injection system costs.

Big smile on my face. I picked up a Bandit 600S and a Hornet 919 about a month ago. They each need to go to the mechanic for Stem to Stern check up, but they both start and run! But I paid $2,500 for the Hornet, they bring a lot more money here in Virginia, USA. The Bandit, on the other hand was an abandoned storage container bike for $600. But what are "relative crap bikes" for you are a couple of steps up for me. So good choices, IMO.

Looking forward to another epic BBB. Chris, I have the fully faired sister bike, GSX600F Katana. Would not be surprised if all you need to do is put his fuel petcock on prime for a few minutes, let the carbs get gravity fed fuel, then set petcock to run or on with the choke fully on, and start right up. Those old Suzuki air/oil cooled inline fours are rather reliable, provided you do not wheelie too much and starve them for oil.

@@JC-nx5xx i'll be honest the Hornet is the faster and lighter more nimble bike, but the bandit it just hillarious to ride as its fun. Fuel range about same, but i'd probably lean towards more the Hornet. The hornet is much comfier and seating position is slightly better on the hornet. Only down side to the hornet is 16" front wheel, however someone changed mine to a 17" so it was great. Also the brakes on bandits are terrible in all honesty as its a very heavy bike. The hornet has CBR600F brakes i believe so they were pretty good, also im sure my hornet had a hydraulic clutch which felt great
