Budgets for tourism and budgets for everyday living are vastly different. The items and places in this video are generally a collection of some of the pricier things you can get in Copenhagen. Buka bakery is regarded as one of the priciest bakeries in town - 50kr for a croissant is very expensive - most places would be around 28-40, some places go to 20kr. Last time I visited Buka, their croissants were 58kr a pop. To Øl is a beer brand in the ‘niche’ category, and generally craft beers are going to be around twice the price of regular beer. So you can usually always expect a good but expensive beer if you go for those. Most bars have a tap-beer price where it’s around a pint for 50-65kr, so 80kr for less than a pint is already getting into that craft-beer pricing area. Some places even do beers down to 20kr per pint, but those beers aren’t the fruity craft beers. Juno the bakery and hart is also on the pricy side, and I mean, if you hear words like “excellent”, or “famous”, or that something is included in lists, or that there’s a line outside when you want to go in, you can expect the prices to be up-there as well, although the prices aren’t as bad as Buka. Smørrebrød is alså one of those things where… you have two versions - one is called “højt belagt” which is where you have all those different toppings and it looks good for photos and this is usually what you get in restaurants, food markets, etc. - and then there’s something called “Håndmadder” which is more of the to-go kind of unimpressive but still good one. Højt belagt will usually run you ~100-195 dkk per piece, and håndmadder will usually be like 15-30 per piece. (usually you can get these at butcher shops). Døp is also like… it’s the hotdog that some hippie in copenhagen recommended to one tourist who made a video, then that tourist recommended other tourists, and now it’s the de facto hot dog stand that everyone puts in their videos for no real reason other than ‘it’s the only one people know’ - but in reality, the quality is about average, and the prices are above average because it’s organic and doesn’t do white bread. Going to a normal hot dog stand would be cheaper, and in many cases taste better too. 50kr for a hotdog is about 15-20kr more than they usually cost. So while you are more than welcome to visit any place you want, I think it’d be helpful for everyone else if non-budget items weren’t labelled as budget items.

We know these places aren't the cheapest budget options, but we were just showing places we ate at and what the budget would be for those wanting to go to them. Thanks for watching and if you have other Copenhagen food recommendations, let us know because we'd love to go when we're back in town!

@@MYTravelBF Cheap places: The one thing that everyone must try, is Rio Bravo - it's this cowboy styled saloon-esque restaurant near rådhuspladsen. Historically iconic due to what's called "the rio bravo settlement" which was one of the foundational elements to the modern danish welfare state. This was almost not voted in, but was saved due to a meeting held at the restaurant. It's traditional danish food served until late at night. Every kind of person goes there, party people, bikers, mom and pop, and it's just a collection of people from all walks of life. The place is mainly known for Stægt Flæsk med Persillesauce ad libitum (all you can eat). Also very cheap for a restaurant dinner. Båden - kind of a young-people place, kind of like the hipster place to go for food and stuff - sells rye bread dishes as well as baked stuff, they only do lunch of breakfast. for beers, most brown-bodegas will suffice. here you get a flask of beer for like 10-20dkk. Vibe is a bit dark and brown/orangy, but it's good people who are kind if you meet them with kindness, despite them seeming kind of like a rough patch. Proud mary also sometimes does events, happy hours and similar, where you can get a pint for 20dkk. Hija de sanchez is a medium-pricy place, because you can get a high quality taco for like 35-40dkk, or 3 for 100 so for a meal, it's cheap considering where it's at and what you're getting. Pico Pizza -got a few different stores around the town, but conceptually, it's around the same price as a big regular pizza, but you get 3 small ones so you can try different stuff - weight-wise those three correspond to 1 person's meal. As soon as you start to venture outside of copenhagen's inner city, like on Amager, more north (but not too much north), or west, then the prices also start to drop. Could find cheaper places, but then we get into the area where you eat for convenience and not because it's something worth going for.

Looks like an amazing tour! Though it’s surprising to see some of the city’s priciest bakeries on a ‘budget’ list. 😊

I suppose it was more of our total budget as opposed to being budget options. Otherwise, we would have included 7-Eleven😅

Thanks for sharing your opinions. It might be helpful to other viewers if you shared some of your recommendations for eating in Copenhagen on a budget. We were only there 3.5 days and just showed what we ate. Thanks for watching!
