Have been sewing for 50+ years and my rule of thumb if shopping online for garments is checking fabric content first, since IMHO it is the foundation of performance. That being said; I therefore applaud you for your advice as often is omitted by influencers when promoting even the best of labels.

Loved the video Elana. I have the last blue and white floral dress you had on with the striped trousers and in another plain color and I love them. H&M jas been my go to for new spring pieces in my wardrobe. I just received an order and I'm waiting on two more orders. I especially love their 100 per cent linen pieces. Ty so much.

I hear that from people all the time about H&M too! Especially from people in Russia - if you shop at H&M your clothes will not survive one wash. And I have my best clothing from H&M. Reason #1 - because I follow Elena’s recommendations for many years now. :) ❤Reason #2 - apparently in different areas H&M targeting different needs ( in their opinion). I live in Vancouver, Canada and in downtown store ( as well as online) you can find the best clothes. The further away you go from the city, the more basic, cheap and bad quality you find. But also even some of my friends who shop at downtown location say that they can’t find anything nice in H&M. Because they go randomly to the store and there is too much to see and they do not know the sections of the store for certain type of clothing. I recommend to keep track of their new arrivals in the app (or online) and, of course, watch Elena’s videos with exact links to the product and styling tips. So when you come to the store, you have an idea what to look for. And if you see the item hanging somewhere in the corner, you’ll know what it is and how it looked like on the model in the app. And since you are familiar with their most recent collection, the unique pieces will be easy to spot.

I just started buying from H&M this year. I find their 100% Linen shirts and linen blend dresses to be a very good value. They wash and wear very well so far. Hopefully they will hold up over the years. I make a point to check their cotton and linen blends. They are reasonably priced. I also bought some of their rayon dresses on sale which are fine for the summer.

I owned an H&M denim colored 100% linen dress for over 15 years (!!!), and it was in regular rotation EVERY summer. I finally let it go when the seams around the zipper started wearing out after I gained weight.

You have so many great tips and inspirations that I really have found useful. However, your suggestions for 'summer'...Is for us here on the Med Sea in Spain is more for our late Spring...no way summer. Far toooo warm and covered up even considering the fabric. You are in Portugal on the Atlantic and opposite side of the Iberian penisula, although high humidity, it is most likely cooler where you are than here. Layering for me, now is too warm...unless night time. I love your colour combinations and I am really incorporating those tips nearly daily.I may have mentioned it already, but I now own (and use a LOT) an orange handbag. Love it!

Pull on linen pants are more comfortable for those of us with bellies. You may be pear shape with a very small waist. So a few stores are now making pants in what they call the curve line for people with a pear body shape.

Thank you for showing us items from a shop that isn't over-priced. I shop at H+M a lot. Some of the tips, such as the one about the trousers, are helpful. I have a couple of the items that you showed, so it's giving me some fresh ideas as to how to wear them. Plastic shoes?? I have had quite good wear out of mine. If you want to pay for leather ones, then go ahead. I appreciate you reminding us to shop our closet first.

I shop by fabric/fiber because I can’t wear synthetics. So, I’ll search for cotton, linen, or silk, etc. This eliminates most synthetics, except some brands, like Banana Republic and Reformatio, keep offering polyester items in the search results for “100% mulberry silk”. No way! They just won’t give up hope that we will buy this plastic crap!
