Some interesting kit, the down boots are great value, used to be you had to buy them for cottage industry folks in the states and they were a fair bit more expensive, same goes for down quilts. Just a tip on the seam sealer, make your own by mixing regular silicone sealer and white spirit, 3/4:1 white spirit to silicone,it needs to be quite runny so that it soaks into the seams and stitching rather than sitting on the surface in a thick layer which will eventually peel off. I use a 30 year old Phoenix Phreeranger that didn't come with taped seams, no leaks whatsoever after using the silicone/white spirit mix. The tongs look good but I'd use a piece of bicycle inner tube to keep them closed for packing. Not sure about the tent, I prefer a tent that pitches with minimal fine tuning, each to their own of course. Good video, keep it up :-)

Had the Lan shan 2 for over 2 years now with over 70 nights use, I have modified it over this time and sewn 8 extra pegging points with bungee cord, and change the guy line structure so the tent can be lowered somewhat for winter and cold windy conditions, I have fab-sealed it now, as wear and tear had caused silicon breaks and eventually leaked after heavy rainfall back in January, just need a 4 season inner, but I guess I will purchase a Khaki 3UL 4 season and change over the inners, so I have the white for winter and, the Khaki for the warmer weather seasons and stealthier camps! once you have put the tent up, after a few 3 to 5 nights hiking wild camping, you get a good feel of putting up the tent in different environments, terrain and weather conditions, of which in the freezing early autumn in the Norwegian mountain's, and winters in the UK, v cold and in heavy windy rain and sleet conditions, and in the dark, with icy fingers, you learn to throw the tent up a lot quicker! persevere with the tent, it is worth the space it provides, it has also held up in 40 to 55 MPH gusts,

Aw man I missed it too 😔 and I’d a reminder set. Anyways another great video Ben. I use the IKEA children’s play utensils for my camping utensils lol. You get tongs, fish slice/spatula, like a spaghetti strainer and a mini whisk 🤔. Not sure if that’s everything off the top of my head but they are small and light weight and have stood the test of me practically using them lol. Think the whole set set was something like £2.50. Like the look of your little table, is that from ali express ?

Hello Ben. I heard you mention you had some condensation challenges on the walls of your tent 🏕 !! Have you given any thought and tried some very small mesh bags of salt in your tent ? I normally just help myself to the free salt in the burger shops and wherever I see them. I carry them in a container (airtight) - about an hour before I crash I hang them from the roof of the tent all night. (Inside) my friend also has them on the outside of his tent as well !! The next morning there is no sign of condensation in the tent. I also feel the atmosphere and “pressure” in the tent “cleaner “ with no blocked up nose or crap on my chest. I also use these salt bags in my campervan all year round to ensure that the outside atmospheric pressure is equalised in the van to avoid the inside windows dripping with condensation. Just remember to change the bags out on a regular basis - if the salt is damp it’s working !! Talking about free stuff - a lot of these coffee shops now offer “Bio Degradable” serviettes from a dispenser. These are excellent to keep a load in your rucksack 🎒 for all types of use, from cheap toilet 🚽 paper to ensuring your utensils, pots ect ect are kept clean if you are on a two or three day trek. They burn 🔥 well and can be buried and the structure will break down very quickly. Thanks 🙏 Take care and stay safe 😷 Enjoy your camp nights: ⛺️🫖🍰☕️ James...
@DaleyOutdoors
@DaleyOutdoors 3 жыл бұрын
Thanks for the tips 👍 I haven’t tried anything yet as that was the first time I’ve had any condensation. Canteens/cafes are a great source for stuff but I wouldn’t bury anything no matter how quickly it breaks down (follow LNT rules). Ben

I have the same tea bag squeezers; they do a great job with bacon, sausages and butterflied chicken breast. I reckon anything chunkier might be more of a 'struggle' though. That looked like a really nice spot to pitch up. Did you get disturbed by wildlife? I've been looking at the Lanshan and the cloud up 2. While I like the idea of a trekking pole tent, it looks like bit of a faff on. Anyways Ben, another great vid. Thanks for sharing!

Yeah the 'teabaggers' don't open very wide but are a great for smaller things. I didn't get disturbed no, there a few mice/rodents in the wooded bit so I just make sue I don't leave any food open to attract them 😁 I prefer the Cloud Up 2 over the Lanshan to be honest, unless you use trekking poles anyway (I don't and end up carrying them just for the tent).
