My .308 savage 10 was 750, swfa scope 249 with that same bipod with a dish towel for a cheek rest.. shoot F class @ 300 yards for a couple years with it and smoked many a 10k bench queens on the monthly. pissed off one guy some much next to me he packed up mid tourney and left to never return. I spent all my time working on my loads and ballistics vs fancy gear. Took her out july 4th and she still holds a great group with bergers and Varget.

I have some rifles that are $699 and some rifles, so decked out you could purchase a pre-owned Prius with 4 brand new tires in the upper $14k mark, and when you get into price range its really isn't fun. Pretty much point, aim, hold, and squeeze with linked up bullet drop indicators autohold off and blue tooth kestrel custom built ammo. Then you take that $699 rifle with a $15-1600 scope on it, build and work up a couple of load variations, and test how far you can stretch that round. I prefer cheaper rifle setup and a challenging shoot day!!

I have the Mossberg Patriot .308 and changed that to an MDT LSS Gen 2 chassis. I have a TC Compass II in .308 that I had used the original stock and for that, I used craft foam, Goda Grip, and some vet tape. The foam and vet tape from Amazon. You can also get it in camo. And I have the Mossberg Patriot Predator Strata in 7 PRC cerakote and I put that in a chassis. My problem with the Mossberg Patriot stocks is that I cannot get enough torque on the rear action screw because they use the mag well as a shim and that is a gap in the rear action screw guide. Put the Patriot in a chassis or even a Boyd's with pillar bedding and you have a 1 MOA or less rifle that will perform, regardless of heat.

I kinda did the same thing with my Mossberg ATR, 3006 several years back. The stock was very flimsy so I dropped in a length of 1/4-20 all thread in JB weld, glass beded the stock with tainless steel action screw pillars. Cleaned up the bolt action some as well. Puts everything in a dime at 100yrds.
